''Nokia Metro'' is the only real logical choice here . It's easy to pronounce, remember and it's universal because it's the new interface design standard of Microsoft.
Nokia and Microsoft have to get their stuff together.
Metro need to be recognized and popularized for people to easily recognize it and buy the ''Metro concept'' and it's ease of use.
Nokia and Microsoft need to build something new with the Metro Interface Design Standard, something similar to what XBOX Live did to the console market, it need to be in a class of it's own and help the brand differenciate itself!

Windows Phone has a great sandbox model - you can trust that there's no malware. It's a managed experience (over Android).
It also emphasises the Nokia brand, trust that's been built up before.

So what if they joke about Uranus? They will just talk more about Uranus which is good. It doesn't matter what critics say about the phone because the name will stick to people's head. Any other name will just be another name. Need to have a controversial name. Uranus is a fun word and the more people joking about it, the more people will be aware of it. They will be curious as to what this "Uranus" people are joking about. Uranus will draw a lot of people. All other names are just boring.

I submitted Nokia Glance.
It speaks to both Nokia’s ongoing design philosophy of reduction. As Marko Ahtisaari recently said. “..today’s touch-screen phones are inappropriately immersive, and that he would like to design in a way that allows users to keep their heads up again.” and Microsoft’s theme of “Glance & Go”.
Phoenix is a terrible name (as are most on the list other than Metro).
I do like Thiago Machado's idea: Nokia Sampo. It has a good ring, has Finnish roots and a positive menaing. Great name, I just don't know how "marketable" it is.
Also, if it’s going to have the 3 syllable Nokia moniker in front of it, is needs to be short.

Since Nokia's smartphones have always used the same naming, why not keep with it. Example the Nokia N8 (Multimedia focused), the E7 (Enterprise focused). They could just add a new letter, i.e. W, and start the series at 1. The Nokia W1, and of course all the variants would follow a hyphen, the W1-0. This way existing Nokia users will immediately recognize it as a Nokia.
I like miths and I like Nokia because of its nostalgic value that it has to me.
So, let's combine them.
In Finnish mithology, there is an magic artifact named Sampo (or Sammas) that brought good fortune to its holder. According to Lönnrot's interpretation in the Kalevala, it was a mill that made flour, salt, and gold out of thin air.
There are others intepretations for Sampo/Sammas. It is a World Pillar or World Tree, A compass or an astrolabe.
I think is a good name.
Cheers :-)

Someone on a different blog suggested resurrecting the Nokia Communicator brand - I think that would work quite well, as it's a series that Nokia didn't damage with crap products like the N96 and N97 did to the N-series.
Ive read through all the comments, and I think the Nokia Win should be added to the poll. Someone also suggested the "revive", (which I don't like the sound of, but do like the meaning). I think, though, that the Nokia Vive would be an iconic name the hearkens back to "revive", and provides a new word that doesn't exist but has a familiar association/connotation.

I think the name should set it apart from the myriad of Android phones out there. Many of the suggested names might as well have been a device from HTC. Most of these names have an adverbial quality, I would suggest something that is more verb-like, something that says what you can do with it. Another thing is, I think that the name should be a little more forward looking and not take into account that Windows Phone is 'starting over', hopefully the situation would be different in a year. The brand should be something that Nokia could build on for years.
I like the Nokia Connect name, because Nokia once had the slogan "connecting people", which they could dust off. The word is an action directly pertainimg to something the device does very well. Only thing is, it doesn't signal top of the line, so maybe this should be for the budget conscious. For a more business oriented line they could consider something like Nokia Deliver. For the top of the line phone I actually like the Nokia Win, for the reasons others have stated, but also in keeping with the action-based naming scheme. Finally Nokia Create could be used for a device with amazing video AND audio recording abilities, including stills of course. Please make a device with professional grade audio recording quality! MIDI-in, etc. Musicians would flock!!

Nobody cares about the "meaning" of the name and non of the names are very catchy... We need something very catchy and will stick to peoples head. I suggest something out of this world, unique and something that will stick in peoples head!
I suggest "Uranus"! Now thats a word that people can have fun with and catchy!
Uranus is Cool!
Uranus is the Best!
I wish I had Uranus!
I can use Uranus in everyday life!
Uranus is beautiful and the sound is magnificent!
Uranus is the seventh planet from the Sun and it has the third-largest planetary radius. So it does have some "meaning". Seven as in Windows Phone 7 and third as in Third Ecosystem.
Here's am excerpt from Wikipedia.
For some modern Western astrologers, the planet Uranus () is the ruling planet of Aquarius and is exalted in Scorpio. In Greek mythology, Uranus is the personification of the heavens and the night sky. The planet Uranus is very unusual among the planets in that it rotates on its side, so that it presents each of its poles to the Sun in turn during its orbit; causing both hemispheres to alternate between being bathed in light and lying in total darkness over the course of the orbit.Uranus takes 84 years to orbit the Sun, spending about 7 years in each sign of the zodiac. Uranus was discovered only in 1781 by Sir William Herschel.Astrologically modern interpretations associate Uranus with the principles of genius, individuality, new and unconventional ideas, discoveries, electricity, inventions, and the beginnings of the industrial revolution. Uranus governs societies, clubs, and any group dedicated to humanitarian or progressive ideals. Uranus, the planet of sudden and unexpected changes, rules freedom and originality. In society, it rules radical ideas and people, as well as revolutionary events that upset established structures.
The planet Uranus. Uranus, among all planets, most governs genius. In art and literature, the discovery of Uranus coincided with the Romantic movement, which emphasized individuality and freedom of expression. In medicine, Uranus is believed to be particularly associated with the sympathetic nervous system, mental disorders, breakdowns and hysteria, spasms, and cramps. Uranus is considered by modern astrologers to be co-ruler of the eleventh house alongside Saturn.[citation

I love the WIN series.
Reasons:
1. WIN means to win. Success.
2. WIN also is short for Windows.
The advantage of this is that it could become almost a generic term when referring to Windows Phones. Just like the Motorola Droid became the default name for many who were looking for an Android phone. They just asked for a "Droid phone" because to them that meant Android phone. And they walked out with a Motorola Droid.
So consumers might see commercials and think "WIN phone", even if they mean the OS. And will walk out with a Nokia WIN phone.

I like some of the metaphors possible in names like phoenix or genesis however it seems to me this is Nokia building their iPhone. I think that perhaps it has to have less specificity to last a long time. 5 years on and still people get excited about an iPhone whereas there seem so many variants of Droids that it seems to be a bit of a blur and hard to pick which is the iconic top of the line phone - similar to the naming conventions on HTC where it is hard to pick one from another.
Perhaps a name that is not so noun-like (will 'phoenix' still feel fresh and appropriate 2 years down the track)? To me these names do not seem to give me the sense they will have the staying power of a name like xbox or playstation.

I think NOKIA SYNAPSE would be a good name, because it corresponds to nokias punch dialogue "connecting people":-)
I like some of the metaphors possible in names like phoenix or genesis however it seems to me this is Nokia building their iPhone.
They should call the line simply "W".
Nokia Neo
Dominatrix
phoenix for sure!! Love that name
Go for NOKIA TESLA !
I actually think that "Droid" is reserved for Verizon branded Android devices, and not Android in general.
