Although, it was a very tough decision, we voted for SHF! St Judes is normally my charity of choice. I felt though, that SHF needed this and that with 10k they can do a lot to help children also. Lots of really Great charities to choose from. Thank you Nick for helping make a difference in the lives of others! Danny, if it goes to you, Thank you for what you do to help those in need!

If u do not want to vote for this foundation, that's perfectly fine. All these charities are worthy of your vote. However, please show respect to SHF. Keep your opinions to yourself. SHF is a beautiful foundation. Danny Gokey has a wonderful heart and this is his wife's legacy. she lived to help people and children. Wow....I see a lot of really rude comments on here. These sad people need to learn to shut up if they can't say anything nice. ALL of these charities deserve money and it would be nice to see ANY of them get it. That being said, I voted for SHF because it's newer and probably doesn't get as much funding as the rest.

I voted for Sophia's Heart Foundation. A fairly new charity which could use the money. Danny Gokey lost his wife to heart disease a year ago and this foundation is in her honor and will broaden awareness and help others.

I am really surprised at all of the hate on this poll commentary. There is no need for all the negativity. Nick is trying to do a good thing and getting people involved in the decision process. Whether you like Danny, his family, or his church is not the issue. Children here in milwaukee and around the states will surely benefit from the amazing passion Danny and His wife have and had for their safety and well being. There are more people involved in SHF than just danny and his church...so the money cannot just be spent at their choosing. Please people do your research and stop the hating. This is a positive thing that should be fun and not hateful. And the hurtful hateful comments about Danny "partying it up" only a few weeks after his wife died are absolutely rediculous. If someone is to lose someone are they to not move for months and months on end. Staying at home depressed is not going to help the situation, nor does it bring the loved one back. But going out and "partying it up" does not mean that they loved them any less. Each heal in there own way. and being surrounded by friends and family can at times help lessen the blow...but it does not take the pain away. So please to not fault him for having a life even after the tragic passing of the biggest part of his life. He is human and we each need to grieve and process situtations in our own time and at our own pace.

I voted for the Sophia's Heart charity. I also want to add that just because you vote for one charity doesn't mean you don't care about sick children. That is a really stupid thing to say. I voted for this charity for several reasons, none of which are because Danny Gokey was on American Idol. I share this charities love for children and feel strongly about sharing the gospel with the next generation. If we do not support the next generation and lift them up with positive reinforcement what are we left with? I also feel that due to the fact that this is a new charity it could use all the help it can get.

All of the charities on Nick's list are deserving of funding. I know that whichever organization receives the money it will be put to good use to help others. Sophia's Heart received my vote because it is in it's infancy and it is inmportant to make sure it succeeds because people depend on organizations like Sophia's choice to make a difference in their lives. Many children who come from a background of abuse, or who live in poverty, or who come from broken families or broken neighborhoods are most often neglected by society. They have little hope for their futures unless someone reaches out to help them to find direction in their lives and to give them hope for a better future. Sophia's Heart does not want these children to fall between the cracks. It may sound cliche, but children are our future. We must do what we can to help all children become productive and caring adults. The people who are on this site denegrating this wonderful foundation are pitiful. Almost none of them can articulate why they voted for a particular charity. The reason for this is because they do not care about the charities on the list. They care only about making sure that Sophia's Heart does not receive the money because they unreasonably hate the man who started the foundation. I don't understand how anyone's heart can be filled with so much hatred that they would use their hate to try to influence the outcome of a charitable effort. Their motivation is not because they care about people with malaria, cancer, tay-sachs, or homelessness. Their motivation is the burning hatred in their hearts for a man who lost a spouse and who's mission in life is to help others overcome tragedies and difficulties in their lives. Regardless of which wonderful organization receives the funding, we must all be thankful to people like Nick Barnett who has expressed his humanity in this unique way of using Twitter to make a difference in peoples' lives. Thank you Nick, and thank you to all of the people who are supporting this effort and are being respectful in their comments.

I voted for SHF. Clearly, people who are stating that SHF does not help children and is just working for Danny's church are extremely ignorant. If you simply go to sophiasheart.org, you can see that there are several branches of the foundation:Music and arts program, Sophia L. Gokey Scholarship Fund, Sophia's Heart of Compassion, and SHF Medical Fund. These all help children in need by giving food, shelter, medical relief, clothing, and musical instruments.
HAWS is a wonderful organization with fabulous caring individuals. They provide much needed assistance to not only the animals they care for but the community as well. They are all about love.
I voted for Sophia's Heart Foundation. If the people who are bashing/'hating' on the foundation and on Danny because, apparently, that's all people know how to do online these days, then look it up:

The 10k should definitely go to Sophia's Heart because there is nobody who is going to fight for those who are connected to the charity like the founder will. Danny Gokey is obviously a hands on kind of man who is very passionate about this foundations success, I believe that this charity is the one that needs the 10k the most. Even though all the others are wonderful to give to as well, they have the publicity and etc that Sophia's Heart does not. The world owes it to such an amazing person like Sophia to do something wonderful in her favor, and I know that Danny would never let anyone down. The 10k should definitely go to Sophia's Heart because there is nobody who is going to fight for those who are connected to the charity like the founder will. Danny Gokey is obviously a hands on kind of man who is very passionate about this foundations success, I believe that this charity is the one that needs the 10k the most. Even though all the others are wonderful to give to as well, they have the publicity and etc that Sophia's Heart does not. The world owes it to such an amazing person like Sophia to do something wonderful in her favor, and I know that Danny would never let anyone down.
