Tess, You can say that this has nothing to do with hate or with Danny Gokey, but in your particular case I know this to be false. I have "listened" to your over the top unwarranted hateful rantings about Danny on a particular website for awhile now. In fact, I remember on the opening night of the tour, during Danny's set on the cellcast....your words were "I hate that man." So really, let's just be honest. The only reason you and some of the others are even contributing a vote here is just to vote against Danny and then come on here and discredit him and the good that he is trying to do.
All of these organizations are very worthwhile, and I have no problem with the money going to one of the others. However, if we are being honest, Nick would not have met the deadline with followers if it were not for the fans of Danny Gokey. So, for which ever organization gets the funds, they will have not only Nick to thank, but also Danny.
At any rate this process, which should be something that warms the heart, has made me very sad and disheartened. The hateful comments should NEVER have been allowed to stay on this poll. I appreciate the fact that maybe Nick did not know how to take the comments off, but seriously, people coming on here and saying that Danny killed his wife? She died in surgery people! Wow, the commentary in here is shocking! I suppose if a "charity" is fake, it should be exposed, but it looks like some people are turning a site meant to do good into a personal venting forum. Advice: If you aren't sure what charity you're choosing, you should look into them all BEFORE making a selection. I already knew about Tay-Sachs, and what the foundation is doing, so I knew I was voting for it before I logged on. I would imagine that most people made their choice before coming to the site, and all this arguing probably isn't changing anyone's decision. In fact, if it keeps up, some people might be so disgusted at what they're seeing they might decide not to vote at all! (If you are one of those people, please change your mind. Look into the organizations if you aren't sure, and VOTE!)
I truly believe that this money should go to the Cure Tay-Sachs Foundation (www.curetay-sachs.org). My brother, Charles Lee, passed away from Tay-Sachs disease at 28 months old. Charles and so many other children are suffering and had suffered because of this disease. There is currently no treatment or cure. Tay-Sachs is ALWAYS fatal in children and can also affect adults (LOTS). The Cure Tay-Sachs Foundation has been working extremely hard for the last 2 years trying to find a treatment or even better, a cure! Please vote www.curetay-sachs.org. The money will be going toward a great and legitimate cause.

I have many concerns about SHF. Being such a young charity they have not proven they are a reputable charity and we have no idea how they intend to spend each dollar they receive.
They have a lots of lovely plans listed on their website but I am yet to see any real action.
I would love for them to prove me wrong, but until such a time, I would be very cautious about donating money to any organization that is not up front about their finances.
There are too many questions about Sophia's Heart. There are zero questions about the rest of the charities... give it to someone with a track record, not a cult.

My cousin Dylan died of Tay-Sachs in 2006 at the age of four. Dylan never spoke a single word, but he touched people's lives in ways you could not imagine! There is little known about Tay-Sachs, but the effects and outcome are absolutley devestating! It has changed our family forever! This money would mean so much and it could possibly find a cure!! Justme some of us are calling some of these posters haters because people are constantly hating and spreading lies about Danny. They have been doing this all season long all over the Internet. They have made up a lot of ridiculous lies about him, all which have been proven wrong. And they are always questioning his intentions on everything and saying really horrible stuff about him.
One poster on this page, said that they hoped Danny burns in hell. Is it surprising that we would call that person a hater? Danny's haters are disgusting they have been trashing/dehumanizing him every since he went on Idol.

I say donate to Tay_sachs. I would hate to watch my child or anyone else's child succumb to this terrible genetic disorder with no chance to survive. A cure is possible with further research which such a generous donation could make an impact. SHF probably made 80k since Danny tweeted his plea to buy merchandise on twitter. All his followers are happily obliging. I think his foundation is off to a profitable start. Good luck to his vision, but I believe saving LIVES should take a front burner.

That is all very lovely Juni and would be excellent if they follow through on that mission however, they have not proven themselves as a reputable charity yet. They do not have any financial information on their website and they are not listed with the BBB, IRS or charitywatch.org. FAR too many red flags.
Please vote for the other charities that have a proven track record and are reputable and will put the money to good use in a short time. These charities are established and have everything in place to utilize the money wisely.
I voted for cure tay-sachs as they are a very deserving and worth while cause.
As someone who has worked for and with non-profits and charities for 20 + years, I urge you to do your research before voting.

I just wanted to make it clear that SHF is a real foundation doing real work and there's nothing fake about it. Think what you want, but if you dont know the facts, please dont try to pretend you do. If you don't like DG, great, fine, whatever. He's not effected by you, so please keep your hate to yourself. SHF is doing amazing things as we speak and the people involved are working so hard. personaly i believe st. judes deserves it the most. Dont get me wrong shf is important. But lots of kids are dieing from this terrible desease called cancer. They deserve the 10k the most.

Wow, the commentary in here is shocking! I suppose if a "charity" is fake, it should be exposed, but it looks like some people are turning a site meant to do good into a personal venting forum. Advice: If you aren't sure what charity you're choosing, you should look into them all BEFORE making a selection. I already knew about Tay-Sachs, and what the foundation is doing, so I knew I was voting for it before I logged on. I would imagine that most people made their choice before coming to the site, and all this arguing probably isn't changing anyone's decision. In fact, if it keeps up, some people might be so disgusted at what they're seeing they might decide not to vote at all! (If you are one of those people, please change your mind. Look into the organizations if you aren't sure, and VOTE!)
I truly believe that this money should go to the Cure Tay-Sachs Foundation (www.curetay-sachs.org). My brother, Charles Lee, passed away from Tay-Sachs disease at 28 months old. Charles and so many other children are suffering and had suffered because of this disease. There is currently no treatment or cure. Tay-Sachs is ALWAYS fatal in children and can also affect adults (LOTS). The Cure Tay-Sachs Foundation has been working extremely hard for the last 2 years trying to find a treatment or even better, a cure! Please vote www.curetay-sachs.org. The money will be going toward a great and legitimate cause.
If you don't want to vote for SHF then don't vote for SHF. But do NOT come up here trashing Danny and his family making disgusting comments about him, his wife and his fans.

You guys can't say a lot of these negative comments aren't because people hate Danny, when there are comments on this page saying the stuff I just listed. Because it's BULL and you know it. I said this before, I will say it again, if people really cared about this money going to a worthwhile charity, you would vote for a charity that you think is worthwhile, say why you think that charity is deserving to get the money and leave it at that.

And for Hunter, you don't know that people haven't done some research on SHF, that is how some of us found out that they are registered with the IRS, because we researched it. Amen to that. I am voting for another legit charity which actually states where the funds go. As to all the comments about hating on Danny Gokey and voting otherwise, I suppose being a fan and just voting for that reason only instead of researching the other charities which help sick children makes your voting ok then?

I was the one who said they were not registered with the IRS - last time I looked they were not.
I have many concerns about SHF. Being such a young charity they have not proven they are a reputable charity and we have no idea how they intend to spend each dollar they receive.
They have a lots of lovely plans listed on their website but I am yet to see any real action.
I would love for them to prove me wrong, but until such a time, I would be very cautious about donating money to any organization that is not up front about their finances.
There are too many questions about Sophia's Heart. There are zero questions about the rest of the charities... give it to someone with a track record, not a cult.

Justme some of us are calling some of these posters haters because people are constantly hating and spreading lies about Danny. They have been doing this all season long all over the Internet. They have made up a lot of ridiculous lies about him, all which have been proven wrong. And they are always questioning his intentions on everything and saying really horrible stuff about him.
One poster on this page, said that they hoped Danny burns in hell. Is it surprising that we would call that person a hater? Danny's haters are disgusting they have been trashing/dehumanizing him every since he went on Idol.

I say donate to Tay_sachs. I would hate to watch my child or anyone else's child succumb to this terrible genetic disorder with no chance to survive. A cure is possible with further research which such a generous donation could make an impact. SHF probably made 80k since Danny tweeted his plea to buy merchandise on twitter. All his followers are happily obliging. I think his foundation is off to a profitable start. Good luck to his vision, but I believe saving LIVES should take a front burner.

Wow, is there some way this comment board can be moderated? Some of these comments are atrocious. That being said, I believe in SHF! As a very YOUNG organization, obviously it doesn't have the accredidation that the others do. However, donations like these will help launch SHF to reach their goals!
I myself am dealing with LOTS: Painful and no fun. Kids suffering and their families need this help to find a cure...

Wow! I'm really shocked on how many people take their time to tell the people not to vote for SHF. Its really sad. I believe ANY of the ones listed will make great use of the money. And I hope Nick doesn't let all those negative comment change his mind because its obvious that's what people are looking for. That is all very lovely Juni and would be excellent if they follow through on that mission however, they have not proven themselves as a reputable charity yet. They do not have any financial information on their website and they are not listed with the BBB, IRS or charitywatch.org. FAR too many red flags.
Please vote for the other charities that have a proven track record and are reputable and will put the money to good use in a short time. These charities are established and have everything in place to utilize the money wisely.

As someone who has worked for and with non-profits and charities for 20 + years, I urge you to do your research before voting.
I just wanted to make it clear that SHF is a real foundation doing real work and there's nothing fake about it. Think what you want, but if you dont know the facts, please dont try to pretend you do. If you don't like DG, great, fine, whatever. He's not effected by you, so please keep your hate to yourself. SHF is doing amazing things as we speak and the people involved are working so hard. They have truly dedicated their lives and all of their time to the foundation. I see it first hand daily, and I am glad to represent.
I think whoever gets the money will benefit greatly from it and do wonderful things with it! I don' think we can go wrong with that! I just hate that a good cause like this is bringing up such negativity.
