Should the Justice Department reopen--and possibly prosecute--cases of alleged mistreatment of terror suspects by CIA interrogators?

Don't you notice the liberal Dem's love to hang everybody outside of their own Marxist party?

  • Deanna - 17 years ago

Everyone is mad at Scotland right now because they let the bomber go but that is what happens when terrorists are treated as criminals instead of terrorist committing an act of war. That is what is going to happen in this country because the Democrats and the ACLU are going to put these people on trial in our courts and then they too can be paroled and also be released for the same reasons Scotland did so look at our own courts and what can happen right here before casting stones at Scotland. The liberals and ACLU do not care how many more us us may die, their agenda is to do what ever they can to show the world how bad America is. We are the only country held to these rules, while the fact these terrorists were cutting peoples heads off and airing it on TV is being ignored. Where were the ACLUs demands for them to be prosecuted.
Now they are bringing them to America for trial. By the way if the liberals want them here where the sleeper terrorist cell are just waiting to use terror attacks to obtaiin their freedom the put them in Cape Cod. Oh, I forgot we acan't do anything to mess up the liberals playgrounds. Case in fact: no windmills in their front yard because it will ruin their view at the same time they are flying around the country dumping jet fuel on our heads demanding everyone else do what they themselves refuse to do.

Absolutely silly. Even if they don't meet today's legal rules, they did then, so it's a moot point. The only issue is as attempt to apologize once again for Terrible America and try to make Bush look bad, and thus make Obama look good. Another pitiful moment for the Obama administration.

  • Terrence Jones - 17 years ago

Yes, let's play this game. But the next administration must prosecute the Obama administration for killing 3 Somali pirates too!! Start keeping score now.

  • Mike Rogers - 17 years ago

I am a retired federal agent. Whether you believe terrorist suspects should be interrogated harshly or not, the law of the land usually guides us in what we do. If you want this to stop, change the laws otherwise you are opening yourself up to legal action regardless of who holds the White House.

  • njjohn - 17 years ago

Here we go again! The Dems with Clinton as President 'depleated and destroyed' our human intelligence resources and guess what happened? Obama and Holder are going to do the same thing! As far as I'm concerned, the ACLU and the Far Left Dems who are truly 'socialists/pacifists' are the true threats to American. It's as if the Islamic Terrorists who what America dead have strong allies here in America!

  • Starbeau - 17 years ago

There is nothing that happened at any interrogation that went beyond hazing at any college fraternity.
Yet there is no mention of the taliban cutting off fingers of voters in the recent election. Or the torture and murder of captured American soldiers!!
Get real people, we are in a fight for our very existence and the other side has no concept of compassion or fairness. War is hell!
They only respect brute force. You go easy in a war and your going to lose! You think twice before shooting the enemy and your dead!

  • B Semrau - 17 years ago

Begs the question of whether or not, Holder and his sidekick, Obama are 'closet' Muslims. By exposing the CIA operatives, it becomes easier to kill us non-Muslims.

  • Sam Anderson - 17 years ago

What Holder needs to investigate is......where is Obama's Birth Certificate? Let's see...a usurpher as our President or bring charges against some true American heroes? Tough call. Better console with ACORN.

I pray daily with many many others that this administration is eliminated ASAP and all the horrors they have creadted are erased. They are an abomination upon the face of the earth.

  • Jimt - 17 years ago

You are watching the undermining of the greatest country in the world by the most corrupt administration ever assembled with the assistance of the naive media and corrupt organizations such as the ACLU, seiu, acorn and the idiots of authority that are allowing this to take place.
In these times especially, you need the best offense and defense to combat the terrorists and evil doers that can possibly be mustered for America and the free world if we are to remain so.

  • DonB - 17 years ago

The only reasons this administration is interested in the past is when it benefits them, as in Republicans were bad then. Also it takes the focus off the failing health care unplan. If you absolutely know a man has info that could save many lives - then you use means not otherwise considered to get that info. Those not in the position of having to make these decisions do not have a good grasp of the reality or weight of the decision making process. And, at times, would be the first to complain if an attack was carried out and knew the info to prevent an attack was available. It is not being two-faced, its just the reality of the situation.

  • mahogma66 - 17 years ago

So funny to read the tiny fool's comments. Do ANY of you know that the DOJ is intended to operate independently from the influence of the executive and legislative branches? Gee Dubbya and Cheney tried their best to politicize the justice department, and Obama has tried his best to avoid prosecuting criminals from the past administration. Quite simply,if crimes were commited,it is in the country's best interest, and long term health, that those perps be held accountable. Get a clue, people.

  • Paul - 17 years ago

First thing Jude our country is not based on democracy it is a republic. Limited national goverment to defend the nation and regulate interstate commerce and individual state goverment rights to govern the people. This was setup this way because they all new that if the whole country was a democracy that the national goverment would abuse the people by oppressing the people and taxation would get out of hand. Second to all you bleeding heart liberals, prisoners of war are not governed by the law of the land but by military law. These have been in affect since the beginning of this country and do not give the rights that you are asking for to be given to terrorist. They are enemy combatants. As the Marines would say " Kill'em all Let God sort them out"

  • Mark McKillop - 17 years ago

Go for what you know Holder/ Obama! But when we dump you bastards out on your asses in 2012 WATCHOUT!! What goes around comes around!

When Roman politicians began to purge previous administrations when the poiltical winds shifted they ended up in a couple of decades of civil war that led to Julius Caesar and the death of the Republic. Obama and his criminal band need to wake up and stop this crap. The rest of the Dems need tomake sure this does not degenerate any further than it already has. One day they will be out of power and some other administration will be prosecuting them for decisions they make today. I call upon Obama to show a little spine and leadership and put a stop to this now.

  • h woodhull - 17 years ago

What about OBAMA CZARS! Nancy Pelosi? Dashel?Rangel? Many many more!! Lets spend all our time and money on investigations and forget about unimportent -things like Soc.Sec.-national debt -terorist -unemployment etc.Thank you Fox for exposing the real truth!!

  • Ed - 17 years ago

    NO WAY!!!
Let me get this straight. OUR justice department drops charges against people for blatant voter intimidation in Philadelphia, closes Guantanamo Bay but reopens and/or investigates closed cases against OUR CIA and past administration officials for allegedly “torturing” inhumane individuals.
    This is nuts!
Here is a novel idea. Let’s investigate and prosecute terrorists not American Heros!!!

If the aclu is so adament about the abuse of the detainnes why don't the CIA or Government just turn them over to the ACLU for care.

No doubt Al Queda is high fiving the Taliban as they read about Obama, Holder and their Justice Dept flunkeys going after the CIA. As no doubt looney libs are high fiving moreons.org. While the America haters now pulling the puppet strings, smile. You've been bamboozled America. Swindled, suckered and sold a bill of goods. Glad you voted for the obamination now, middle America? Green jobs for all now, is it? Keep focused on what they do, not what they say and the messiah will be a one term disaster.

  • Tony Lau - 17 years ago

Geneva Convention is for prisoners in uniforms. Prisoners caught not in uniform are sumarily executed.

The left is try to distract people from their current failure and heat which Obama has on the health care issue. This is totally ridiculous.

  • B - 17 years ago

I can't believe how many of you are so upset about finding out if our own Government abused the laws. Why should citizens be held accountable to the law if the gov't isn't? And by the way, how much money did the Republicans waste investigating Clinton's marital infedelity? Answer: More money than the gov't spent on investigating Kennedy's death. Sad. I bet most of you people are just upset that the Repub's got whipped in the last two elections, and unless you all start stealing them again, it's going to keep happening.

  • Russ - 17 years ago

I will agree to an investigation when one single Muslim country, tribal councel, court, or even group of people try and convict just one of the thousands of terrorists who have murdered and mutilated a US military member or one of their own countrymen or women.

    Until then "war is hell".

  • Alec - 17 years ago

  • deanna - 17 years ago

We are victems of the media lying to America about Obama and the continued
cover up by that same media.
When Obama ( I refuse to call him President)was running for the Senate the last time the media all said he was the Democrats best bet for retaking the White House and bemoaning the fact that he couldn't run because he was not born in the United States.
Then the Democrats tried to push forward a Constitutional amendment but could not get the needed support for that.
Then all of a sudden he was born in Hawaii.
These are not my ideas, this is what the media reported.
He is anti Isael, pro Palestine, He is cutting the military funds and now he is breaking the cover of our agents. Excuse me but didn't the Democrats hang a conservative out to dry for exposing a agents idenity( another trumped up charge to cover the fact that they were responsible for her husband being sent there, not the President, and the man came back and lied to the to the American. There is a lawsuit going on right now that the media refuses to cover. A liberal professor of the Constitution filed suit because Obama was not
born in this country and in fact has all proof needed including where he was educated. My major question is why are the taxpayer dollars being used to support the anti American ACLU when it is not a govenment group but a far left non profit group of hard left lawyers. It is time we demand that our tax dollars not be used to fund a group who hate America and who is only interested in destroying everything Ameria stands for and making America look bad in the eyes of the world as does the left wing media. When have you heard a report on any progress in Iraq or Afghanistan. When have you last seen tape on the good things our soldiers are doing or on the how much life has inproved.
If we don't continue to stand-up and say enough is enough we can say goodbye to Ameria as we have known it.
A good example of the media trying to brainwash America is their refusal to show film of 9-11. They use the excuse that it would be to distressing for the American people to see(not up to them to protect us from the truth) when in fact the truth is they wanted us to forget because if we didn't forget what happened groups like the ACLU and the left leaning media would not have found a way to convince the American people that we were at fault for the attacks and wrong for going after the terrorist. They don't want us to forget the shooting at Columbine and don't care if it destresses us because they believe it is an aid to convince people that our gun rights should be revoked.
They pick which destressing news we the people should or should not hear or see based on if it will help or hurt their political agenda.

Yes, its important to know the truth and uphold the laws. So many people are afraid we are losing our freedoms but they don't want to know what our government has been doing in our name? We need to shine a light in every corner of what has and may be continuing to gone on. No one is above the law in a true democracy.

  • Jerry - 17 years ago

Enough is enough. Lets move on. I feel when events like this pop up, it is an attempt to push the flames out on the current Health Care issues. Bottom line no after 911 events happened while or since the Bush watch.

  • Lynne - 17 years ago

Who are we kidding here folks?? These wonderful people hijacked planes and flew them into buidlings killing American citizens. To say that they should be afforded rights as American citizens have is absurd to say the least. No other country even remotely adheres to the Geneva Convention. I'm not saying two rights make a wrong....but it seems other countries torture americas and other individuals for S&G's and not to obtain any information that would stop a "terrorist attack". Information gleened from CIA interrogations stopped future attacks on the U.S. How about this....we send the democratic congressional members (all of them) over the Afghanistan and any hot zones in Iraq and let them "work it out" with the terrorist regimes there. They can negotiate with the terrorist and see how that works for them. If it were not for the CIA's efforts, homeland security and the fact that we are fighting the agressors on their own soil....you can believe totally that we would be fighting them here. Funny how we haven't had any attacks since the first one....which basically happened because we had a democratic president who set the precedence for letting terrorist go unpunished (Yemen bombing, first bombings in NY....anyone remember those?). Our wonderful democratic president was only too eager to let those terrorist slide after he promised the victim's families that he would pursue the terrorist to the full extent of the law. Yeah, guess he forgot about that....along with the dress. So what is a group of terrorist to think....hmmmm....Clinton did nothing to us when we attacked Americans before....maybe Bush will be the same. The American public needs to get their heads out of their behinds and wake up and smell the coffee. Terrorist countries cannot be bartered or negotiated with....they have one thing on their mind and that is jihad. Their belief is simple....allah will return once the world is in total chaos....so they just want to help it along a little faster. They don't care about our laws or whether or not we are waterboarding one of their own....their total goal is utter and complete devastation....only then can their "allah" return. So get a grip and support the CIA, Homeland security and our military or you might find yourself fighting a ground war here is the U.S. And considering the liberal congress really doesn't want you to own a gun or be able to buy the bullets to put in it....you might find yourself out of luck. I'm not a war monger and neither was Bush or any other person in his cabinet....but the plain simple truth is....we were attacked....we didn't attack them....they attacked us. Remember? I'm sure the families of those lives that were lost remember. And maybe they do want vengence. Don't be naive America it will cost us more than you can imagine. And to "L" 's comment up above....America has stood on the basis that all men are created equal....unfortunately.....terrorist do not feel that way. I am okay with equally torturing terrorist as they torture American troups when given the opportunity. Why don't you ring up Ahmadinejad and see how he feels about you being equal to him? Before he has you beheaded I'm sure he would share a great laugh with you about how naive you are. You and I are infidels get used to it, it's not going to change....and they will never change their minds about Americans. Let's all hold hands and sing Kumbaya as the Obama leads us down the path to destruction. I never post comments about anything....but you know what? This whole thing makes me so irate I just couldn't let it pass this time.

  • EJ - 17 years ago

Blaow, another homerun for this administration.

The truth must be reveled, only then can the healing begin.

  • Moon54 - 17 years ago

Obama has already appologized to practically every terrorist nation on earth. How much more does he need to do to make the U.S. look like a nation of wimps. If we have another major terrorist attack, I would hate to see what Obama would do. I'm sure he would call them a nasty name, like poo-poo heads, and send them to bed without dinner. Obama, grow up and take responsibility for your own actions, and stop putting our country in danger.

  • JohnjacobsJHS - 17 years ago

We all know, that there are terrorists and individuals living in America right now. Who want to see the destruction of our freedoms and liberties. So we can be ruled by Religious leaders. Expousing that hate of Satin worshipping and other religions that mimick, how Satin would rule the world, if she had it her way. I know, who you four percent are, that voted yes. These are the prople who want to destroy America. NSA, CIA, FBI I think if you checked out the four percent. You would find terror cells right on our doorsteps.

  • Janet - 17 years ago

This poor excuse for an administration, needs to direct the attention to something else to take the focus off it's poor performance. I want to know why they stopped investigating the voter intimidation case? Holder is corrupted!

  • calodo2002 - 17 years ago

Obviously we need to investigate/prosecute. The statute of limitations on war crimes was lifted in the late 1960s - to move on or turn the page simply because it was in the past is childishly ridiculous.

  • Mark - 17 years ago

We are the United States of America, we shouldn't stoop to torture or war crimes, even if it gives us valuable info (studies show it doesnt). Prosecutions must occur to prevent this from happening again.

  • Steven Ganey - 17 years ago

This is typical of the vast left wing conspiracy. These CIA employees put their life on the line to keep America safe and what thanks do they get? A witch hunt from the socialist. These armchair do goodies need to spend several weeks in the field with CIA Operators to see what the real world is like instead of sitting in their recliner eating Ben and Jerry's ice cream. Corruption at the highest level in the Democratic mindset. Next time their is an attack, we can blame the liberals for the slack oversite of getting information from our enemies. Problem is, we have enemies on the inside too.

  • P - 17 years ago

Responding to L: I agree with you to a point. I think good people did bad things, however I don't think it was out of vengeance so much as proactively trying to protect people. I don't think that excuses the actions, but if we're talking about investigations now, then the "why" is just as important as the "what," so we should be clear about that.

However, all of that said, for a guy who campaigned on post-partisanship and a promise to look forward instead of backwards in an attempt to gain the votes of Republicans who were disappointed with the Bush years, Pres. Obama has sure abandoned all of that at break-neck speed. Make no mistake, this is not about "righting a wrong," it's purely about deflecting attention back to "the most unpopular president" at a time when the current president is taking a healthy hit in the polls. I would wager that if the health care proposal was sailing smoothly, we would have heard nothing about this. I suppose there's no way to prove that, so take it for what it's worth.

I'll add that there is a time and place to look back on how you conducted a war and maybe even hold people accountable for their actions. During the war is certainly not that time though, at least imho.

  • Godfrey Daniels - 17 years ago

Absolutely no harm was done and continually looking for a way to embarrass the previous administration is a waste of much needed tax payer money. I know that since 2001, we have not had an attack on American citizens on American soil by terrorists. That is worth all the efforts our security forces have made in our defense.

  • Jayce Robinson - 17 years ago

Well now, If this administration feels it necessary to GET someone from the prior administration then they need to watch out because, WHEN (not if) the Conservative party takes over, only because America will really want change, you know, back to the way it was before the present government tried to rule us, anyway, when the conservatives take over it should be of utmost importance to pursue all of those who have degraded our country (an act of treason) by saying things like "this country is a country of cowards" and also go after all those who have stolen from us by forcing unread bills through that could bring about economic collapse. Remember, it is "IN GOD WE TRUST" not Allah. There is a difference. For God so loved the world..........

Holder is the man who calls Americans cowards. Only a coward would persue those that did EVERYTHING possible to protect our country after 3000 Americans were slaughtered a few Septembers ago. It may look good and seem popular from where Holder is sitting but to most decent Americans this is just another attempt to smear the good work done by the Bush team in keeping our country safe. Don't waste your time and our money Eric. Get over it.

  • DON IN BALTIMORE - 17 years ago

This is another example of Obama/ Holder trying to use any George Bush policy and practice to beat him over the head with it. Terrorist use mass murder, beheadings, bombing complete innocents and every kind of mean, nasty stuff they can. President Bush used what he had to just to keep us safe, and he succeeded with minimal impact to any laws, or common decency. He and Vice President Cheney should be thanked for all of the mayhem they spared us from.

  • ImMyOwn - 17 years ago

Good luck recruiting field agents from this point on. It's probably just a distraction to pull people's attention away from something else but, even if it is the men and women in the CIA or considering the agency have got to really be having second thoughts concerning their future.

Elections are coming, make them count.

To use Obama's favorite dismissive word, re-opening the CIA hearings would be a convenient 'distraction' which he hopes would take the focus off of the seemingly intentional destruction being foisted on us, of everything real Americans hold dear. God help us all and God bless what's left of our America! Elizabeth

To understand the democrats you need to understand the people that created the democrats.
From a quote from 1944 Socialist party canidate for President

"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism.
But, under the name of "Liberalism" they will adopt every
fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will
be a socialist nation without knowing how it happened. I no longer
need to run as a Presidential Canidate for the Socialist Party.
The Democrat Party has adopted our platform.

However uncomfortable it may make people, this overwhelming conviction that Americans should not be held accountable for how they treat terrorists only exposes the inconsistency of America's "preaching" that "all [people] are created equal." We are willing to tout this message when the issue involves groups or nations that affect us economically (Iran protesters, etc.)--but we are somehow completely willing to dehumanize the terrorists out of vengeance. How is this any different from what the terrorists have done? Of course, our desired extirpation of these terrorists is painted as a glorious and praiseworthy demonstration of patriotism--but the terrorists do the same thing as well: glorify their engagement in violence in the name of bringing about a larger supposed "good."

  • William Yon - 17 years ago

Small minded people have small ideas. This is what happens when the people of a great country elect a community agitator president. The Obama adm. seems to be made up of America hating individuals.

  • Lee - 17 years ago

How absurd and what a waste of tax payors money and government time. Enough already-get on with doing government busniess. In time of war we do what we have to do to capture and to the captured to secure truth. Our personnel need protection not violation of the government. No laws were broken. In this age of terrorism we need to search out targets and we need to question and gather all info possible. I do believe that we always give every benefit of the doubt first but then we need to be open to what is necessary to protect our own people. I think that Obama and his team need to get busy and leave others alone. We also maybe should begin to investigate all the Czars of questionable background maybe. Their power is unprecedented and I believe that is where we need to begin-with today. We have good people working for us and why this administration is so bent on working against us is a bigger question for investigation.

  • john ryan - 17 years ago

I don't understand the way the present administration thinks, notable, the democrats in government. Are they as stupid as they seem to me or is it something else going on. Why are they declaring war on the very people that are protecting us from the terrorists around the world. This country and the present government are either the stupidist people or out right traitors to this country. Which one? Has any one of the people appointed by obama served in the military? I'll bet very few if any. Let them walk a mile in the shoes of a CIA agent trying to find answers from a terrorist about a suspected plot against this country and its citizens without scaring the terrorist a little. IS THIS GOVERNMENT COMPLETE FOOLS

  • David - 17 years ago

  • stephanie - 17 years ago

I seriously think that Obama needs to move on. He has a personel agenda to bring down the Bush administration and at this point i can't help but to think it's because he's a failure himself but wants to constantly play the blame game. Leave it alone. The country has more important things to focus on.

  • Paul - 17 years ago

This is just another attempt by the liberal side to try and take the heat off of themselves and place in on someone else. They are never willing to take responsibility for anything. We are at war. Laws that apply to American citizens do not apply to prisoners of war. You do what ever it takes to get the information that you need to protect your citizens. I hear people all the time talk about the Geneva Convention and that we are suppose to treat prisoners a certain way. Bah Hum Bug. We are the only ones since that agreement that has ever ahered to that. My hope is that the military will take note of this and give an order that no prisoners are to be taken let them all die on the battle field. These people, in my opinion are not even prisoners of war, they are terrorist and should be executed.

  • vernell gray - 17 years ago

Obama is always pointing the finger of blame. This administration needs to go to work for America. How much lower does he want to bow down to terrorists?
