Speaker Gingrich called it. I think the selection by Senator McCain of Governor Palin is an excellent choice.

I want a Vice President whom is not afraid to go hunting and shoot someone. Just "kidding'; she's a perfect choice. Now, women have no excuse except themselves to keep a woman from shattering that "glass ceiling" wew all know is there. GO Sarah and John!

    Thanks Greta

  • Darlene - 18 years ago

I am so tremendously encouraged about the election now... finally someone has courage to stand up for what is right and holding people accountable. And it just happens to be a beautiful woman... Awesome.

Don't you know there are people trempling right now! You did good John... you definately are your own man. I respect your choice and bid you and Sarah health and blessings all through the race and new positions in the White House. My prayers are with you...

    LETS GO

WTG...John McCain, You made a great choice. There are too many un-answered questions about Barrack Obama's past. I couldn't believe Illinois elected Obama to the Illinois senate in the 1st place. He is all about the Chicago/Illinois Democratic machine and the trial lawyers including the full support of the Madison County "HELL-HOLE" and political machine.
Sarah has far more experience than Obama ever will.

  • Pat - 18 years ago

What a day! Bye bye Obama and his ridiculous campaign of lies and prejudice.

    Look at all these comments!

  • Terri from NJ - 18 years ago

I have never voted in my life but I will now. I believe pushing Hillary aside was the last straw for American women. Whether you liked her or not it was very unwise not to respect her presence in this election. I believe women across America will be sending a clear message to all that we will not be ignored any longer.

  • ANN - 18 years ago

Amen!!!! To all of the COMMENTS!!! This is AWESOME!!!!THE WOMEN AND MEN OF AMERIDA NEEDED THIS TYPE OF HOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!AMEN, AGAIN.....

  • Barbie AR - 18 years ago

Sara Who? Wow! Sara Palin is already a house hold name around this house. I am so impressed. She takes on the bad guys in her own party and wins. Wow! She's smart, honest, ethical, has a resume of experience that counts, has a great family, a fabulous personality, and is a looker. I was in Juneau, Alaska, last summer. What a gorgeous state she is governor of. Interesting that there is someone from Alaska and Hawaii running in this election.

  • Marian - 18 years ago

I think that John McCain's decision to choose Sarah Palin as his running mate is brilliant. From what I have read and heard, she is an amazingly accomplished woman, and more than qualified to be the Vice President of the U.S., and if necessary, President. As a pro-life Republican and a mother of a Down Syndrome child myself, I give Sarah kudos for being willing to put herself under the scrutiny that she has and will no doubt continue to receive for her strong stand on "right to life".

  • Keith - 18 years ago

As a registered republican, and after watching the DNC convention, for the vast majority of the week to see the degree of negativity from the Dems, seeing John McCain choose Gov. Palin was quite a coup.

While I was hoping for Sen. Kay Bailey Huthison of Texas, (and I believe she'll make a great Gov. for Texas as some news reports indicate, Gov. Palin is an outstanding choice.

Let's see what we have here. Grass roots politician, does the right thing for her state (what a novel concept, aye?), knows a great deal about energy and most likely very well versed about energy policy, mother of 5 to what is and will be 5 very grounded kids, wife of 20 years to a guy who is familiar with labor issues and they both love the outdoors, former athlete (high school basketball state champion), most likely is an expert or near expert on the environment and natural resources. I mean the list goes on and on. What is not to like and be very impressed of her ever-expanding public resume?

This will make the next 9-10 weeks of the general election really quite interesting - and yes - the Senator and Governor have my vote locked up.

Let's get out and support this ticket. I'm psyched for early November.

  • Kim in MO - 18 years ago

Way to go John and Sarah! BTW, Happy Birthday Senator McCain & Happy Anniversary Governor Palin. You two will make an incredible team in the White House! I think I speak for everyone with a Christian-based faith when I say that I couldn't be happier with the Republican ticket. God Bless you both!

  • Mario - 18 years ago

Hispanics Wake Up! You are NEXT and will not be forgotten. I am confident that before the Republican Convention is over we will witness McCain come up with another Great IDEA and give us another proof that this year we will have a Voice for "ALL" the people. I am proud to be an American, I am proud to vote for the McCain/Palin ticket, and I am proud for what is coming to Washington DC. Watch out, enjoy the little people of Congress run for cover. You deserve what is coming and I will be right there to VOTE you OUT!
God bless America and God bless McCain and Palin families.

  • Deborah Olmstead - 18 years ago

I am so excited about this election, now! This was really out of the normal box, but so is McCain, in many ways. Niether of these 2, are at all same-ole-same-ole. I actually think these 2 candidates represent more of the kind of spirit that founded this great country and at the same time very representative of the majority of our population or atleast what we hope to be like under scrutiny. I really believe that Gov, Palin is a breath of fresh, salt of the earth air. Not jaded by Washington politics, but groomed non-the-less on legitimate training ground. I first read about her in the Houston Chronicle many months ago in reference to her many accomplishments as the formidable Governor of Alaska and in reference to her dealings with corporate oil companies, while championing her state. I was impressed then and I am just so delightfully surprised by Pres. candidate McCain's excellent judgement now! I now see hope in this election and for our future here in the U.S.A. I love my country and I am so tired of the games!!

  • Angela - 18 years ago

I am so thrilled at John McCain's choice in his VP running mate!!! Gov. Palino has more experience and more of a record to reflect back on to make a better informed judgement about who is more ready to lead this country than Barack Obama who the Democratic party has chosen to run for President, not Vice President. I would love to see a debate between Obama and Palino instead of Obama and McCain because I believe with all my heart Gov. Palino would win hands down! She would be able to debate him without a teleprompter because she has experience to give her her answers, unlike Sen. Obama who has done nothing but run for office since he became an elected official, which is why he has to have speech writer's and a teleprompter to answer questions. Without these things he pauses alot, has to say umm alot, and most of the time his answers are not accurate, he has to come out within a few hours and correct his original statement. He talks about McCain being more of the same and then when he has to make his very first most important decision about who he would want to run this country if God forbid something happened to him, he choses a man who has been in Washington just as long as McCain has. So, who is the one who is going to be more of the same??? Atleast Sen. McCain picked someone who is a proven reformer and someone who has a proven record of reaching across the ailses to bring people together, Obama on the other hand has no record what-so-ever to prove that he is willing to do anything but vote along party lines on everything that really matters to average Americans. How can we elect a man that voted over and over again against funding the very military that he would be Commander and Chief of while they were in harms way? In his acceptance speech he said that he would never send our troops into harms way and then not fund them, but that's exactly what he has been trying to do since he became a Sentator. As a matter of fact he went out of his way to cast these votes to not fund our troops that were in harms way, but was absent on so many other important votes. He chose a running mate who voted to send our troops into harms way, but then voted later not to fund them, leaving them in a situation where if they had their way our troops would have been left to die in a war or fend for themselves the best way they could without their weapons and ammo all because they don't support the war and are so beholding to the far left of their party. What a discrace both of them are!!! I'm looking forward to the upcoming debates and Nov. 4th!!!!! Finally, Obama won't even face Bill O'reilly on Fox News so how can we trust him to face our enemies in Iran, North Korea, and all the other extremists out there who want to destroy us and everything we stand for??? The simple answer is that, WE CAN'T!!!!!!

  • J. Fannin - 18 years ago

Read a lot of the comments that have been submitted and am wondering just how much kool aid one will have had to drink before coming up with something negative like, for example, Ann. I was somewhat impressed with Senator Obama's acceptance speech last night, but was blown away when I heard Govenor Palin today. Will be voting that ticket!!!!!

  • Gina Myers - 18 years ago

What a great choice! You can tell that she was born to be a leader. Confidence, a great speaker, perfect stance on all the issues, wife to a world champion snow machine guy, mother to five kids, and she is an athlete.
I have always voted but I wasn't sure what I was going to do this November. Now I know what to do. Vote Republican!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • bodhi - 18 years ago

Senator McCain, you have made the American troops very happy!!!!!!
Congrats John McCain........you are the man!
You know how to pick them!
A woman with brains and beauty, who is not afraid to stand up
for what she believes in......honest.....integrity.......she won't
have to worry about facing off with Biden......no....no.....the
the democrats are the ones who will be worried!!!!!
GOD BLESS AMERICA AND GOD BLESS JOHN MCCAIN FOR PRESIDENT
GOD BLESS SARAH FOR VICE PRESIDENT 2009-2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Kelly - 18 years ago

CONGRATULATIONS!!! To John McCain for his choice!! When I heard it, I thought it was PERFECT!!!

This will really wake the republicans and get them excited again!!

Obama made a mistake by not picking Hillary - once again - Hoorah for McCain!!

  • Eric - 18 years ago

It's unbelievable still some democrats talking about experience! Since, Gov Palin has more executive experience than Mr Obama. She has been A Mayor, A Governor, she is a journalist, she is a full package of an American Lady !!! An after all, she is the VP, hers boss is who has and need the experience. That, is what Sen Biden has (just in Washington) , but "HE IS NOT THE BOSS". Sorry Mr Biden your boss must go back to the Senate, and never try to be President of this wonderfull country again. Maybe, he could find a better place for him in Hollywood, acting as a clown or who know...in a Socialist Country..?

  • alphamom - 18 years ago

As a full time Mom, I have never been busier in my life, nor have I been more productive. Around here, if I don't do it, it just doesn't get done. Leave it to a fed-up Mom to just go out there and start cleaning up the mess and fixing it all herself. I could not have imagined yesterday being this excited about the McCain ticket... Knowing her the little I do from her exposure today in the media, I trust her more than any other potential candidate I have seen.

  • Audrey - 18 years ago

(Greta, you are brillant--I have watched your career for several years and have wanted my twin daughters to be so like you in your integrity and determination--they are now both in law! Who knows what will follow through the years!) This mother, wife, daughter, govenor and now V.P nominee is more outstanding than anyone that the democrats are now offering us as Americans for our nation. I do not want to have someone lead this nation who is merely an'empty promise and a lot of noise. I am a country girl taught that 'actions speak louder than words.' I pray that the citizens of our nation will not be taken by the slogan of 'nothingness change.' I do not buy a 'pig in a poke'--as my grandparents would say. It is time for our nation to continue on with the full and equivalent rights of all American citizens. My faith is refreshed in John McCain and Mrs. Palin's value systems. We need that for our children and their future--no more run away 'movie star' type characters--our children and our schools are suffering with the selection of 'idols without substance and values' to mentor. Hurrah for both of these fine Americans--I pray God will bless them with a hugh victory--it would also be a victory for America.

  • Sheila - 18 years ago

I told my husband - no way was he to put a McCain bumper sticker on my car....then I woke up this morning to the wonderful news. Go McCain and Palin. The best news I've had after a depressing week of Obama/Biden. Praise God!!!!

  • Don c. Belford - 18 years ago

Wow!! As a conservative patriotic American who is a life menber of the NRA, a Navy veteran and proud of all of the above, I am very pleased with this choice.. I have never been anti-woman in a political sense. My mother was a woman and loved us and her country. She would have fought like a mama bear fou us and her country. Golda Meir of Israel was a great lelader as is Margaret Thatcher of Great Britain. My wife is a new and patriotic American citizen. What qualifies a woman for president is the same as the qualities that make a man a good choice. It is what is in his heart and head, not what is between his legs. Good show John. You did us all proud and you have our vote. God bless America!

  • Hunter - 18 years ago

I am outraged at the comments I have just heard coming from the Democrats. They are calling this woman stupid and comparing her to Dan Quail. If his is what their next talking points are going to be. I have just lost all respect for all democrats. This shows how little respect they have for women.

  • mart - 18 years ago

There is something likeable about Ms Palin. It gives excitement to the presidential race. I believe many others will feel the same way and vote for McCain. Mr obama is a good speaker and many democrats believe what he says but there is not enough money to accomplished all he promises. I don't believe he can fulfill the many promises he has made.

  • JOY - 18 years ago

I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!! Between the "showdown" debate and McCain's judgment in selecting his VP---I AM SOLD!!!!!! Most of all, I thank God, because we are living in a very dangerous world with very corrupt "politicians". Obama's word "CHANGE" in his case, is just "words"----and NOW, the excitement is palpable---because McCain is showing us he is serious about CHANGE in Washington. Obama threw away a winning ticket by not considering Hillary's 18 MILLION votes--McCain is "walking the walk" and Obama just "talks the talk".

  • Connie Carvill - 18 years ago

I am so proud of the Republican Party and John McCain. I am the sister of two sisters (one of them lives in Juneau) and three brothers, one of whom was born retarded. Governor Palin showed incredible courage to have a Downs Syndrome child. My mentally challenged brother has been a blessing to all five of us and we wouldn't have traded his life for anything. I am a strong pro-life supporter and will do everything in my power to get this wonderful team elected. They reflect the strong moral values that Americans stand for.

  • Barbara - 18 years ago

John McCain hit a grand slam today with the selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate. I am going to support this campaign financially and will check out to be a volunteer. By the way, I am 1 year and two days older than McCain. Lets get out the votes and put this country first. Go McCain/Palin

  • Shades of Gray - 18 years ago

Sarah Palin is an incredible chose. She is strong, honest, determined, she stands on principle. Whether I agree with her on every issue doesn't matter. As a women, all I can say is about time we had a women politican that is honest, straight forward, is firm in their belief, understands that being an elected offical means serving the people, not self interest, not power, not money, not a political party, it is serving the people. Go Sarah Baraccuda Palin. Oh, regarding her brother in law, maybe he was a corrupt cop, used his power to intimidate women or the politicans she exposed were able to use him, his anger, his corruption, to discredit her. Vengence can be hell. There are always at least 2 sides to every story.

  • Faris - 18 years ago

One negative on here, and it is from a staunch democrat not willing to give, not willing to be flexible just because she is a democrat. This candidate for VP was not chosen by McCain just because she is a woman. She was chosen because she is a strong, honest, do what you say and do it right kind of person... And your Obama?? WHY do you think he did not pick Hillary??? Do you think maybe he didn't want her there because she does know more than he does and he would not feel like he was really the president. Hillary would have had more sayso than anybody knows, and Obama knew that and he did not pick her even though she would have been better for the country had he won than Biden will ever be. He just lost himself an election because he didn't want a woman suggesting what he should do, a woman who was ready to work on the first day and not be an "in training" president.

So, the lady on here who was the only negative, you are far outnumbered. Go stick your head in the sand and see what has happened after you pull it out. We will have a seasoned president and a get it done VP.

  • Pierre - 18 years ago

I am part of the GOP and in the military. I admire SEN. John McCain, though I haven't' always AGREED with him, I would trust him as President and admire him being a Naval War Hero. What he endured, shows his character as an American.
Gov. Sarah Palin from what I have known about her, she is AMAZING! I have read about her and have known her just following politics. She has more EXECUTIVE experience that Mr. Obama, and is more conservative than McCain, and compliments him nicely.
This is a outstanding move, and all those unhappy 18 million Hilliary/ Women Movement that felt wronged. Time to jump onboard the GOP movement and make Sarah Palin, an amazing woman VP of this GREAT COUNTRY.
God Bless America, and Please vote McCain/Palin =)
    From a U.S. Sailor

  • Linda - 18 years ago

I think its funny that so many people are ready to jump on this woman's band wagon when they know nothing about her. She tried to have her former brother in law fired because he was trying to get custody of her sisters children. When the woman wouldnt fire him, she fired the woman - foul play?? or just plain illegal?? She also wants Rowe vs Wade reversed. This does not make up for Hillary not being put on the Democratic ticket...women are smarter than that. I think the media will go into her background like they have every other politican and the Republicans will cry foul play like they always do. Funny that they can say and do as they please but if anyone reverses the roles its foul play. I didnt care for Obama, but he will get my vote now!!

  • LB - 18 years ago

I had no intention of voting in Nov because what I have heard from both candidates is what we Americans want to hear and have heard in the past. However, since the announcement, I am impressed with who she is and what she has done in her short "political" career. Alaska is the biggest US state and right now the most important state with is oil resources and pipeline. No one on Sen. McCain's "supposed" short list of VPs wowed me. But SP has my attention and I eagerly look forward to hearing and seeing more of her. Way to go McCain!!!!!

  • Rick and Cathy L. - 18 years ago

The choice of Governor Sarah Palin is brilliant. We think she will blow the election right out of the water. She is not just words (like Obama) but has a proven record of real action. She will make a great Vice President and possible future President. Unlike Obama she has experience as commander-in-chief of a large military unit, the Alaska National Guard. She stands for ethics in government. And, like Senator John McCain, she has experience working together with people of both major parties and independents.

  • Rita - 18 years ago

I have prayed for a person bold enough to run for a national position who is not now, and has the integrity to resist, falling in line with the crooked antics of too many of the "politicians" in our federal government-regardless of their party affiliation (MY opinion). I was becoming seriously more distressed about the future of our country. Governor Palin instantly raised me to a new level of hope. I realize it takes many people WORKING TOGETHER to make our government what it should be. I am now excited about the next 2 months-and beyond! We need to encourage everyone to vote for REAL change. My vote goes to McCain/Palin!

  • ED JONES, ARCHDALE, NC - 18 years ago

Mc Cain hit it out of the park!! The DEMS haven't begun to see the "CRACKS" in the ceilng YET!! OHH, and she is already working on alternative natural gas resources in Alaska! I'm more energized and ready for the ride of my life! She represents all things good in Amereica. Look out Biden, It's time to go Ridin'. Got Natural gas? BRING IT ON!!! AND DON'T FORGET... I BELIEVE SHE IS A LIFETIME MEMBER OF THE NRA. THAT'S HOT!!!! IN THE WORDS OF THE GREAT CHARLTON HESTON, 'FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS"!!!!!

  • Denise-AF Spouse/Woman Owned Small Business Owner - 18 years ago

    Greta
I am so impressed with McCain's choice of Palin. She is positively "todays woman" she stands for family!!!! something our society is truly lacking these days.
Our country can not afford Military cutbacks nor raise taxes for small business owners. wait, Obama changed his mind AGAIN about that last part :)
I really have a tough time keeping track of what he is going to change. Obama, every time he speaks - gets rederick over what hes said then changes what he's said by saying "I didnt mean it that way" then switches sides. Its amazing to me how blind people are to his bs, lies and arrogance!!

  • carl - 18 years ago

Shutting down corruption in D.C. too? Obama better run cause I think his name is on the list

  • Bob - 18 years ago

Excellent choice, this has excited the Republican base and will bring Independants along with Democats to support McCain in this election. Governor Palin's stands for conservative values and I am thrilled with this selection. Go McCain "08".

  • Grace - 18 years ago

It is amazing that Gov Palin run and won againts an incumbent Republican Governor and then fought coruption effectively.
I am proud of her, not only as a woman but as person, it is true that women have produced great statement think of Margaret Thatcher, and even Catherine
the Great of Russia who changed that country in the XVIII Century.
Also I would like to mention that while OBama visiting Kenia promised big help to a little school in that country and has done nothing yet to help them, on the contrary a woman, in this case Mrs. McCain, when visiting accidentaly a local hospital at a US territory and finding a sad state of affairs as soon as she returned home, she arranged for medical equipment and teams of doctors to be sent to treat the island children. So much for women.... !! they say we talk more than men, I wonder.

  • R. E. Scott - 18 years ago

Bravo Senator (soon to be President) McCain!!! Just what the GOP needed! Had McCain made the announcement yesterday - before Obama spoke to the stadium full of his Kool-Aid drinkers - he could have just given his concession speech instead and closed out what was a very boring convention!! Soon to be President McCain and Vice President Palin will rock the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul next week!! This is true "CHANGE" we can all be proud of!!!

  • Rachel - 18 years ago

I love it. McCain picked a small town girl who clings to her guns and religion. In your face Barack Insane O Bama!

  • Wilburn - 18 years ago

Wow, what a woman; she has it all! John McCain sure stole Obamas' thunder. Just wondering, how long did it take for Obama to pick his chin off the floor?

  • Dawn - 18 years ago

Happy Birthday McCain! You have clinched it! What a blessing she is!

  • Beverly L. - 18 years ago

The woman is a lady! She wears our flag proudly. Mrs. Palin is very well spoken, and has not thrown one insult in any way, instead she is telling us what she stands for. What does Mr. Obama stand for other than anything not American? What a blast of fresh air, there are some of us who had gotten so tired of the ususal rhetoric, and game playing, Mrs. Palin states what she stands for. I hope that we just met our next Vice President. God bless America

I applaud the honesty and sincerity that I witnessed today. Sarah Palin is a breath of freash air in a politcal soup of distortions and outright lies. I was embarrased at the staged event that closed out the DNC. I didn't think anything could overhsadow an Obama speech but those Disney fireworks took center stage. After viewing that over priced spectacle I think Obama should start getting his resume up to date so he can orchestrate the opening events if the Olympics come to Chicago. After November 4th he's going to need something to do.

  • Vickie - 18 years ago

Hey guys! Remember after the ObamaNation's speech lastnight???? Our beloved John McCain did a short ad, congradulating and commending Barack on his night and a job well done! Remember the grin that was on the Maverick's face?? Now I know what was behind that grin!!! Alaska's Governor Sarah Palin!!! Thank you Jesus!

  • Hayward - 18 years ago

Great selection! A true conservative with proven conviction.

  • Jay - 18 years ago

What a great choice!! I was not going to vote, but now I will for John Mcain.

  • wrlok12 - 18 years ago

With everything I admired about Hillary, her abortion position, or her being a democrat, never came into the mix. I admired Hillary because of her never ending spirit, her loyalty to a position, and her dedication, truthfullness and honesty as a true American. Mixed into that, was the reality this was a woman! What I don't understand about the rest of the Hillary supporters is: Why the feelings of indifference about Sarah Palin on first impression? Something is very strange about the type of comments in the blogs, that are supposedly from Hillary supporters, saying she is being 'used' as a political tool....without even giving her a chance?? As a Hillary supporter....I am totally confused from these responses. Seems more like a 'macho' attitude, but from women. I don't get it!! It didn't take me long to realize, how very very similar they are.

  • Christine - 18 years ago

I knew I would vote Republican (pro-life & pro-Israel/military), and I highly respect John McCain. Also, there is no way I could support Obama (liar) or the democratic platform (pro-abortion & anti-military).
But, as of today, THANK YOU LORD! Now I am EXCITED about voting in November !! John McCain's choices so far (always taking the high road) are a great indication of his excellent qualificatons for being President of the USA!
I knew nothing of Sarah Palin before today, but I am VERY IMPRESSED with her AND her political record! GREAT CHOICE, JOHN MCCAIN!!

  • Sue in Upstate NY - 18 years ago

If the McCain-Palin team loses in November, I'm moving to Alaska.

  • Jerome H. Berry - 18 years ago

Stacy, in case you missed it. Gov. Palin is a great pick. She has no problem putting members of her own party in jail or out of Business. Dems don't do that, they rather look the other way or cover things up. Wake up, order your bumper sticker now. Get 10 for me to, if you don't mind. Thanks

  • Vikingfan - 18 years ago

I am thrilled with McCain's VP pick! Sarah Palin is a woman after my own heart. She's extemely well spoken (unlike Obama) and easy to listen to. I will be sending my contribution to the RNC asap!
Go McCain / Palin! You've got my vote!
(I can now put up my yard sign!)

  • Marie Conner - 18 years ago

At Last!!Now, we can confidently ignore Obama, his wildly liberal supporters, and the equally liberal, biased media. I thank God that there are still some politicians and leaders who are actively seeking His will for this great country. WoW!! I didn't know there was such a perfect running mate out there!! A pro-life conservative female with governing and business experience who is not afraid to take on corruption in government or the big oil companies. I think that Mrs. Palin will bring much balance to the partnership with John McCain. Now, I know I'm getting ahead a little, but I surely hope that President McCain finds a place in his cabinet of advisors for Mitt and Mike. I liked both of them and felt either could have made a very viable republican candidate, as well.

  • Robbie - 18 years ago

McCain-Palin! This is the best ticket a Republican like myself could hope for. I admit that I was a bit worried, but now I am absolutely thrilled! I would have voted Republican anyway, but this really puts the icing on the cake. Happy birthday, senator McCain. Happy anniversary on 20 years of marriage, Governor Palin. God Bless you all and GOD BLESS AMERICA!

  • Ralph - 18 years ago

she's got the looks and the brains & she will help Mcain to presidency

  • CHRIS - 18 years ago

I am so excited! When Senator Clinton was passed over for VP I was done with this election, now I can,t wait to vote for Sarah Palin"sorry,John McCain".What a great selection Senator McCain,I can,t wait to vote!

  • Brian - 18 years ago

From reluctant McCain supporter to avid McCain/Pailn adxocate. Gov. Palin is a fantastic choice.

  • Joan - 18 years ago

Holy Cow! A gathering of Republican comments. Gee, who would have thunk?

  • Jim - 18 years ago

What a genuine person! One of us! What excitement in her voice! Why could't McCain show some of this zeal too!

  • Alice - 18 years ago

Gov. Palin is the topping on the cake! We knew we couldn't vote for OBama; even though lived in ILL all my life, never heard of him until he ran for President. Heard John Kerry on liberal radio talk show in CA say OBama had done so much for down state ILL. Amazing, where we live, and we didn't have a clue what he had done for us. Of course, Kerry didn't tell elaborate on what OBama has done for us. McCain gave responses to Rick Warren that really were far above OBama's and we felt better about voting for McCain. Then, Gov. Palin can be nothing but top choice - integrity! One smart classy lady!

I think John McCain chose a running mate that is perfect for him. I am so excited! She is a true American and brings American spirit to this campain. Her morals and principals seem unwavering and I don't think the Obama campaign will ever admit that this was a great decision by John McCain and although it seems she may help with the Hillary voters, I believe Sen. McCain still would not have picked her if she did not share his extreme sence of morals and determination that is so badly needed in Washington. What a day in history. I will never forget where I was when I heard her acceptance speech. Many of the Obama followers were in tears as he spoke in that huge arena, but I tell you, I didn't have to have the fireworks and all the hooplah when I watched Gov. Palins acceptance speech, I was also in tears today as she spoke in Ohio. What a fantastic team. McCain\Palin 2008

    Country First!

How 'bout that for CHANGE, Obama!!! Gov. Palin is a breath of fresh air; not the stuffy, partisan Washington air. She reminds me of what history tells us of our forefathers. The ones that shaped this country for the good of the people; not for their personal agenda. It is unfortunate that so many in political office focus only on the party and not the people. But, I do believe that Gov. Palin portrays someone who doesn't let the party get in the way. I believe that she will be a terrific asset to Senator McCain, the USA and everyone of the citizens of this great nation. I believe that she can help make this a proud nation again. Thank you Senator McCain for always sacrificing for our country and for making an outstanding choice for the Vice President. I know that, together, you will get this country back on track. Happy Birthday, Senator McCain & Happy Anniversary, Gov. Palin. I am looking forward to the next 4 years.

So far today, McCain has raised over $3 million dollars since the Pallin announcement. Seems like there is some energy out there!

  • Vicki - 18 years ago

By the way, my husband very much wanted to see Mitt Romney as the VP choice, but after listening to Sarah Palin, he was quit impressed and thinks she would be a great VP and potential Prez.

    He's voting for McCain/Palin!

  • Tess - 18 years ago

Wow! I'm so excited about this election now! I will for sure vote for McCain/Palin. It is done!

  • Barbara - 18 years ago

I am so excited about John McCain and Sarah Palin! He is a man of experience and character who is not afraid to do the right thing for the good of the people. She is a sharp, independent thinker with proven executive experience who has shown courageous leadership that will be evident in this country as well as around the world. Leadership doesn't stop at our borders. She'll be great in the White House and in every government "house" across the globe. Real leadership works! By the way, listening tonight to the pundits of the Democratic party, and, unfortunately, many journalists, one might think John McCain is on his deathbed. The man is healthier and more fit than many folks much younger than he is! So the whole "heartbeat away thing"...get over it! Yes, I would be confident with Sarah Palin as my president! But, right now, I'm ready for John McCain as my president with Sarah Palin right beside him working for us!

When a friend told me McCain picked up a woman as his VP, I said: Ooooohhhh No, no, no, nol but when I heard her speech, I said: Wow, my God! She is great, and this also showed me that Mc Cain is a very smart man, he really did it! Nobody talks about Obama any more in Union City, and everybody knows Sarah Palin. Beautiful family, a great lady, a wonderful woman. The democrats are jumping around like a chicken without a head...
Who is going to beat this couple? No way, Jose...!

  • Ken - 18 years ago

I wish I could write to some of you that have written on this blog! Some of you wrote beautifully! Wish we could all meet for drinks! I hope MCCAIN/PALIN (darn that "caps lock"!.........I stole that from another blogger! lol!) Beats Obama and "pretty boy" severely!

  • CPT Willy - 18 years ago

John McCain said he would choose a VP who would govern as he would. Imagine a politician who tells the truth--McCain did it. Palin is a reformer who governs according to strong values and a wish for the common good. She is of the people and for the people. She doesn't appear to be the Washington type politician who uses flowery words to increase and preserve power.

Yesterday I was dreading the election. Today, I am excited about it. For the first time in my voting life (16 years) I am excited and eager for an upcoming election.

  • Ross - 18 years ago

Great move, panic time for liberals. I predict that after the first turn
Sara Palin will be the Commander in Chief of the USA
Good bye Obama Hussein & Hillary

    ciao, ciao,
    Ross

  • gracie leal - 18 years ago

I was saddened this morning when I heard McCain had not picked Romney.
However, after listening to Sarah Palin, and learning of her accomplishments, and her beliefs, I am refreshed, excited and can't wait to vote for my party....

  • Mary - 18 years ago

I consider myself a socially liberal, but a fiscal Republican. Much to my Republican husband's disgust, I don't alway vote straight Republican and have been known to cross party lines. While McCain has a better congressional bio than Biden or Obama, he did not excite me. I was a huge Guiliani supporter and was disapointed that he fell out of the election before my state got to vote in the primary. While I don't agree with all of Sarah's social positions, I'm happy to see someone in this election talking fiscal responsibility! She has my vote!

  • Brad - 18 years ago

Where did she come From? Her speech was very impressive , and more important, believable! I was going to vote for Mccain because of his consistency & experience. But now I am very enthusiastic & hopeful of the reform this great country needs.

  • Jeff - 18 years ago

Well, Stacy, you've proven exactly what I have always believed about "real democrats" that being you care more for your party than for your country. Sounds a bit like another socialist party leader-Hitler.

Wow is right! An excellent choice for V.P. I am sure once more an dmore comes out about his fantastic woman we will all grow to love her more and more. She is the beginning to the rebuildng of the Republican party. Now if she can convince John to drill, drill, dill, we will all be on the road to foriegn oil independence. Oh yeah, NO PANT SUITS! A woman who walks, talks and dresses like a woman, how refreshing! McCain definatly hit a grand slam! Hw cute she is. The media was commenting on the fact that the her and the Mccain's must not know each other very well because she called Senator McCain, Mr. McCain.....di they ever think that she was rised with the proper upbringing and that as a show of respect to both her superior and elder she chooses Mr.? I think it shows just how classey this beautiul woman really is.

  • Claudette - 18 years ago

I AM ABSOLUTELY THRILLED WITH MCCAIN'S CHOICE. AS A MOTHER OF A NAVY DAUGHTER, ARMY SON AND RETIRED MARINE/ARMY HUSBAND I BELIEVE THEY WILL TAKE BETTER CARE OF OUR TROOPS AND SEE WE COME HOME WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT. I LOVE THE FACT SHE IS PRO LIFE. SHE IS A ONE HOUSE WOMAN AND I BET SHE KNOWS THE PRICE OF MILK. I WILL SURELY BE VOTING MCCAIN-PALIN FOR PRESIDENT.

  • NoBama - 18 years ago

Thank God for Sarah Palin! She is awesome and what a great family. I believe in her and John McCain. My Mother and my Aunt who are Dems both called me today and told me that they are voting Republican! I never thought I would have seen the day.

  • Wayne - 18 years ago

Just when most of thought we would have to settle for politicans who say one thing to inspire us and then do something else less than honorable, we get two people of character. When faced with an easy way home Mcain said "NO". When faced with a bridge to nowhere or corruption Palin said "NO". These two honorable people connect with the majority of Amerca and give people who feel character is import and not just a punch line hope.

  • Harry - 18 years ago

Obama wins!NOT!!!,I think Sen. John McCain has made a very wise VP choice ,they have my vote!!!!!!!

Gov. Palin is a role model for young girls and all woman every where

  • Carol - 18 years ago

I am thrilled about Govenor Palins addition to the Republican ticket! I truly danced around my kitchen, when I heard her acceptance of Sen. McCain's offer as his running mate. History is being made here! She is smart and articulate, she has and lives her values! I think some of the politics as usual people, are quaking in their seats!!! Watch out Washington! We're going to elect people that put the American people before their own party and get rid of the corruption and greed that has caused so much stagnation in Washington! Way to go Senator McCain and Happy Birthday! Way to go Govenor Palin and Happy Anniversary! My husband and I just had our 40th in January. Many Blessings ! Thank You Fox News!

  • SC - 18 years ago

It is really upsetting to see that Fox News would create a bogus poll in light of the republican party. If you were really paying attention, this poll reveals that 96% of the voters of this poll are mostly women who are so desparately looking for a female leader and are willing to flock to the next runner up who happens to be a soccer mom turned politician.

  • Rita Purnell - 18 years ago

OK, what's not to like. And, if you think 140 working days a year in the Senate is MORE experience than any sitting Governor, of I don't care how many people, every day of the week, is more experience then you got marbles in your head. I say McCain knocked the ball out of the park.

  • NEVER FOR OBAMA - MCCAIN/PALIN IN 08 - 18 years ago

Thank you John McCain for choosing the right person for the V.P. spot. Sarah Palin identifies with the working class women who juggle with work, home, and children, especially a child with special needs.

She identifies with me, as I also have a special needs child in his 30's. My son has given me more love and joy now and for many years to come, he voted for Hillary Clinton.

Great choice President John McCain! Women should not be treated as 2nd class citizens when they carry the family fabric of America!

This will be a welcome change from all the divisiveness that the Obama campaign has given us. McCain/Palin in 08!

    HILLARY DEMOCRATS FOR JOHN MCCAIN!

Vote for the Patriot of America and of ALL Americans JOHN MCAIN IN 08!!!!

  • Linda - 18 years ago

I was so disillusioned by all the political mumbo jumbo these past months...that is until today. I am excited again for a "breath of fresh air", a real, sincere, no nonsense, intelligent woman filled with purpose, passion and integrity. My vote is now both excited and solid as can be.

  • Debbie M. - 18 years ago

I voted for Bush twice--now, sorry I did. As a Hillary supporter, I honestly did not know if I was going to vote at all. Now, there is no question. What a brilliant choice McCain made. How brilliant a VP candidate in Sara Palin. From what I have seen so far, I love her honesty and integrity, something hard to find in politicians. I hope that does not wane. She is the BEST pick. Come on you Hillary supporters; it's not JUST a woman, but a very INTELLIGENT WOMAN that has many years of legislative EXPERIENCE . Not even the democratic Presidential nominee can make that claim.

  • D & L - 18 years ago

I also predict Sarah Palin will be the FIRST women president in 2012

  • Traci - 18 years ago

After sitting on the fence with the nomination of John McCain, my husband and I are so very excited by his choice of Sarah Palin. As active campaigners in Pa. we worked hard on Senator Santorum's bid for re-election and have been very subdued and uninspired since November 2006.
We weren't very excited about the prospect of McCain at first, then we definitely started to warm up to him when we watched him in the Saddleback forum. His admission to the break up of his first marriage being his own moral failure was so sincere and genuine, we put the McCain for President sticker on our car.
Now we can hardly contain our enthusiasm.
He really hit one out of the park.
We are proud to be Americans and will work diligently for our party once more.

  • Phillip - 18 years ago

To sort of use Joe Biden's own words (with a little twist) BARAK OBAMA MADE THE WRONG CHOICE...JOHN MCCAIN MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE. More of the same??? HA!!! This woman is going to wipe the debate floor with Joe Biden. She has way more experience than Obama could ever hope for. She has actually done something while in public service. She has used her veto power, signed legislation, ran a state, fought big oil. What has Obama done? Worn down his finger tip by pressing the PRESENT button so much he now has a callous.

  • Regina - 18 years ago

After agonizing through this past weeks 'joke' of a convention and then last nights hollywood performance, I couldn't believe this was actually a nomination for a political party to be our next President!! Thats what the next 4 years would be, embarrassing and a disgrace to the greatest country in this world! Its all about him!
Today, thank you God, brought a new day! a new hope for America! Great choice McCain! congratulation Governor Palin!
