Should the Justice Department reopen--and possibly prosecute--cases of alleged mistreatment of terror suspects by CIA interrogators?

The role of the Justice Department is to defend death row inmates in Texas who have murdered and raped young girls and to defend terrorists against anything lacking in compassion.

I can't help wonder why they are so eager to protect our sworn enemies when thousand of babies lives are terminated ever year in this country. I think their moral justice is misplaced

This Obama regime is a disaster and the Eric "pardons for terrorists" Holder is a disgrace! I trust we will be seeing the Clinton administration (including Holder) being investigated.

What a bunch incompetent imbeciles. These are the people in charge of keep this country safe?

Our "create a crisis" crew have h been busy destroying the country since they took gained majority of the House and Senate in 2006. These Soros puppets should be removed from office and sent to a land far , far away. This is not my daddy's Democrat Party that cared about this country and defending it. This Pelosi, Obama branch are the very vile anti American creatures that are the enemy with in.

Obama thought that releasing the so called "torture memos" would benefit them . To play political games with our security should be enough to charge them with treason as they conspire against our country and provide aid to our enemies.

I for one will NOT forgive these politicians using "torture memos" or pictures that would harm us and endanger the lives of our people. Obama /Soros /African Jihad are turning us into a Banana Republic!

If want to talk about torture they can take a look at what they are supporting and siding with.

Obviously, this is their tactic to distract from the Health Care Mess that is NOT going their way!!
The Obama Administration should be tried by the next administration for turning on the USA!!

Wow, how soon we forget, Bush did nothing but blame Clinton for years about everything, I dont recall all of you saying "Lets move forward, quit blaming someone else". Where is the law and order you speak so highly of in campaign and your finger pointing on issues you choose. Laws of the worse kind were possibly broken, they need to be dealt with, its not a blue or red issue. We need to get to the bottom of this to move on.

  • Jerry Eastman - 17 years ago

Obama would love to prosecute any Republicans he can, the higher in rank, the better. Bush kept us safe for 8 years after the 9/11 attack. Obama is weakening our nation by the minute and I can't believe we haven't been bombed into oblivion since Obama took office. It is coming and all this weakling will do is "wee wee" himself. God help America if someone doesn't terminate his presidency soon.

  • David S. - 17 years ago

How do you expect anyone at the CIA to do their job (PROTECTING AMERICA!!) if they know they may be prosecuted by some rogue regime at some point in the future?

These are Americans protecting our families and the liberties gifted to us by the US Constitution.

Anyone (Obama) who would attack our protectors has nothing in his heart except resentment for the country he is supposed to love and support.

God Bless our troops, our CIA protectors, and may God forgive the Liberals...FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO.

I believe America may be waking up to the fact that this current president and the type of people by which he associates and names to high ranking offices is purely nothing but the act of someone who is not qualified for the position he now holds. He has continued to blame the previous administration for all the woes he currently faces. Problem is he has not improved or shown a plan that anyone outside of his circle would agree that would actually improve anything. The one thing we must keep in mind is that these supposed terroists did not treat the Americans in the towers with any type of humanity, nor did they comply with any "Geneva Agreements" when they hijacked the airplanes and crashed them into the PENTAGON and the Field in Pennyslvania. That is because they are terroists and therefore not HUMAN.,

  • Carolyn - 17 years ago

This is just another tactic by the present administration to play the blame game. This so-called "president" has done absolutely nothing to help the American people and yet will waste time and money on the past, instead of focusing on the real problems we have.

  • michael king - 17 years ago

Absolutely NOT. This is a typical red herring to distract attention from the administration's falling approval polls.

  • Roland - 17 years ago

The interogation teqniques have kept our country safe since that fateful day on Sept 11, 2001 when our country was brutally attacked by terrorist thugs. SHAME on the liberal Demorats and the Obama administration for imperiling the safety/security of our country and bankrupting the country to boot!!!!

  • Sharron - 17 years ago

Absolutely not. Ask 9/11 survivors and their families how they feel about terrorist. Ask families of soldiers deployed. I quite honestly don't care what it takes to keep this country and our soldiers safe. They declared war on us not the other way around.

I find it reprehensible that a current administration would even consider taking action against a previous one for things done to protect this country.

This is just another example of government run amuck. It's time we let our elected representative's know that if they continue to support Obama and his totally incompetent decisions they will not be in office come next election.

The biggest danger this country currently faces is the present administration. They are without a doubt set on the destruction of all this country stands for.

  • Scott - 17 years ago

this is a political move to shift attention from how poorly he is doing to how badly we treated some mass murderers. By doing this he hope to reignite the fire in the far left to unite once more against George Bush the terrible war monger. He is hoping to cool the flames his healthcare overhaul is going up in. I personally felt much safer with GW in office not the great pretender.

  • Deanna Zohar - 17 years ago

The Obamanations' brilliant idea to protect the American people from the
H1N1 flu was for American citizen to limit our travel to Mexico?

With thousands of illegals' crossing our border everyday if they were really concerned for the safety of the American people they would have closed the border but doing so would have cost them thousands of illegal votes so once again this proves that the safety of the American is last on the liberal agenda.

This is the government we expect to protect us from terrorist attacks when they won't even protect us from H1N1?

    I don't think so!

TO BRAD- Look at the numbers, 95% say no. Do you really believe those numbers are all conservatives you need a reality check. Ckeck all the other polls around the nation which are 1/3 Democrats, 1/3 Independents and 1/3 Republicans and you will find that the no's win there too!

Obama and his administration are using this issue to take heat off his fast failing policies, and his out of control spending. The problem with rehashing these investigations is obvious. The CIA and other operatives are charged with protecting citizens of this country. Not terroists. If you put these people in a position of being prosecuted for doing their job, how long will they do their job??
It is time for Obama to quit blaming the Bush administration for his fumbling around on international policy and domestic financial failures. Period.

  • USMC Family - 17 years ago

Some crimes have no statute of limitations. Torturers, rapists and murderers and other war criminals in Sudan, Yugoslavia, Somalia, Rwanda, Nazi Germany, the Viet Cong, the Khmer Rouge and yes, even in the United States, can and should be prosecuted for such crimes - even if they happened a few years ago - even if they happened decades ago.

It makes no difference if the Viet Cong was 'worse' or the Japanese did 'worse' - Two wrongs will never make a right, no matter what kind of math you use.

And if we, the American people, feel that we have some kind of immunity to commit these kind of acts... Well, then we have already lost, because now WE are the terrorists and our laws and ideals mean nothing.

Further, if we condone this kind of treatment, it is open season on our military. We all know some countries do not follow the Geneva Convention... But, because America did, we at least had the moral grounds to protest the treatment of our people held overseas... and the support of other democratic nations around the world, as well.

If we simply chuck all of the ideals on which our nation was founded in the false hope that this will somehow keep us 'safe', what have we become?

And where does it end? Where does the 'new' line get drawn?

Timothy McVeigh was a terrorist. Who should we have tortured to get information about him? His mother? His Army buddies? It would have saved 168 men, women and children...

  • Hank - 17 years ago

Obama enjoys using the blame game, another attempt to hide healthcare reform from being the topic of conversation. But it won't happen and we won't allow it. What a coward!!

  • Robin - 17 years ago

From a great movie..... "You sleep under the blanket of freedom that I provide, then dare to question the means in which I provide it" !! These liberals wanting to go down this road are a shame to our country and, in my opinion, the thousands who had to die at the hands of terrorists ON OUR SOIL! I don't understand what they are missing.... despite what you may have thought about the Bush administration on any other policy, the fact is, Bush and Cheney kept us safe and maintained our freedoms during the most challenging time of our nation's history. Something no other President has had to face! Thanks to them always!!!

  • Wanda - 17 years ago

The AJ and the Justice department should be surrounded and let him know that since he dropped the charges against the "New Black Panthers", instead want to do harm to the US and the CIA brave agents and let the blacks go unpunished. Make no mistake about it, Obama is behind this. No AJ will ever make this kind of decision that is not approved by the President.

JACK BAUER FOR PRESIDENT ! ! ! ! HE got things done........

Those who use "terror" as a means to advance their adgenda do so without regard to race, nationality, age, sex, political affiliation, religion, or 'laws of the land'.

They care nothing for "politically correct" forms of questioning. IF they believe that WE are as -fanatical- (or more so) about our beliefs and people, they are more likely to be forthcoming with the information that will protect US.

  • j jazz - 17 years ago

Again, If your spouse and five children went to a Major League Baseball game and the U.S.A. had a TERRORIST in custody who had first hand knowledge about an imminent attack at the stadium your family was visiting, would you care if water boarding was used on the TERRORIST to stop the attack and save the lives of your family? Enough said.

The only silver lining to this "administration" is that America has awoke and will NEVER allow something as dangerous as this to happen again in a Presidential Election any time soon. Time to move the Congressmen who are just as pathetic out the door as well, they themselves are moving that scenerio along just fine, thank you.

  • Holidizzle - 17 years ago

Remember these people are SUSPECTS, people who arent convicted of anything, maybe just there at the wrong place at the wrong time. I guarantee if it was ur son, or you yourself, you would want some kind of retribution.

  • Austin - 17 years ago

I'm for waterboarding, threatening, demeaning....whatever it takes when dealing with a terrorist or suspected terrorist. Those who feel we should protect the rights of a terrorist or suspected terrorist need to WAKE UP...! Obama has betrayed America by freeing terrorists and protecting their rights rather than those serving and protecting our country.

  • Common Sense - 17 years ago

Of course, there must have been times when suspected terrorists were threatened or treated harshly in order to extract valuable information. That's just common sense. What do we expect. Offer them tea and biscuits and politely ask for information? Those same terrorists would not think twice about killing hundreds, thousands of Americans.

We should be thanking our fellow citizens who work tirelessly to protect us, not threaten them with politically motivated, self-righteous prosecution.

As for the allegation that a suspect(s) was threatened with sexually assaulting their mother, that's absurd. In Arabic that's a phrase commonly used in a fight, or even jokingly. (ha'neek omak or I'll $%$# your mother).

  • Chuck Pellegrini - 17 years ago

This is not about right or wrong it's all about pacifying their base. They appoint a special prosecutor who will come to the same conclusion as the former probe. This will take the heat off Obama and Holder with their base. IT'S ALL ABOUT POLITICS. Sad day for America....

  • Gay Maloney - 17 years ago

Obama and his czars agenda are to bring America down. What better way than to demoralize the CIA and expose their techniques that worked well in exposing secrets that kept America safe. Releasing Black Panters that were threatening at the voting polls, transferring convicted terrorists to plush resorts all show this President is on the side of our enemy. The real question is what is our elected officials doing to prevent this overwhelming abuse of our constitution? Keep America Safe----how? By destroying it from within. Smoke and mirrors while the real horrors are being committed against Americans.

  • Brad - 17 years ago

Why was I not surprised when most people said no to this poll? Leave it to republicans to think that torture and murder should be legal.

  • posterior_sling - 17 years ago

Every time Dems get in they try to find something to pin on the Reps. The field is sparse and this is a s-t-r-e-t-c-h of the imagination!

  • Deanna - 17 years ago

One thing that would give thousands of American people jobs the liberals will not allow us to drill here.
The media, including Fox, refuses to bring up the government backed insider trading involving George Soros, the largest Democrat supporter giving the Democrats millions of dollars. He owned 22,000 shares in the oil company in Brazil. That is all the media says, they fail to mention that he sold those shares and then bought 800,000 shares with a higher return rate just a few days before it was announced that the government were using our tax dollars to guaretee the loan for this drilling. Sure sounds like insider trading and payback by the Democrats. Sure smells like something very rotten is going on and there is a major cover up by the media and no demands for a full investigation.

  • MRT - 17 years ago

This issue really has nothing to do with terrorists and everything to do with upholding the constitution.
Either this country lives by the law or not, but let's not wrap ourselves in the flag while ignoring the law becasue we don't agree with it.

  • CI CI - 17 years ago

I don't see why Obama is so insistent on Bush's past when he has so much on his plate right now like continuously printing more money to give away or flying to every country he can appologizing for the U.S. As far as investigating the treatment given to our terrorist prisoners, where was he when our American soldiers were mutilated and hung from a bridge making front page news to all countries like they did something wonderful!! Those prisoners should be treated like American soldiers are treated when taken....they show no mercy on them.

  • Deanna - 17 years ago

Aol, another liberal backed company is messing up this page, they keep wiping it out so I have to start over three or four times. The reason I believe it is AOL is because this is the only page it happens on.
If you realy want the Deomcrats to hear you have to take the fight to their pockets. If you get in touch with everyone you know that agree with you and set a a time , say Sept. 1, 2009-Sept 7,2009, and don't buy anything that has a federal tax on it. Buy enough gas, smokes if you use them, anything you may need durring time and then nothing for seven days. This will show them that we are done paying for their taking over of our government and crazy spending. Are there enough people strong enough not to shop for one week?
I am as of today refusing to buy any GE products as they are refusing to tell the truth about Obama on ABC which they own and I will no longer by any new products made in China. If I need a toaster I will look for a used one until they bring the JOBS and INDUSTRY back to America. They don't think they have to listen to our voices so lets hit them where they have to listen.
Contact any group of people you can, seniors, tea party, etc. and get as many people on board as you can and we can get the message through. Our tax dollars are the only thing they understand and care about and it is the one weapon we have to fight them with until we caan get them out of office.

This administration is doing the same thing the Clinton administration did. Focasing on something instead of what is the most important thing. Because of the Clinton affair with Monica took precedence over getting Bin Laden and now the Bush admin is more important than this hornets nest about healthcare that Obama has started. Go ahead Democraps hide behind Bush cause you don't have an answer for America about healthcare

Would the liberals and Democrats not want to the CIA to investigate and do whatever necessary if it were their family members that had been bombed and killed?

  • sally - 17 years ago

the Congress has already gone over this and found nothing ! Holder is an idiot... Next we should re-open the investigation and impeachment of Bill Clinton. OB is trying to advert attention away from health care.

  • Tammy - 17 years ago

This administration is leaving out a huge factor here - these detainees are terrorits. So they want to just slap them on the wrist and let them go? What if said terrorists go back to their country and come up with bombing even mroe horrendous than what happened on 911? And sure, el-Megrahi is in bad shape but I'm sure he's still quite experienced in bombs. I'm there are lot of people in the middle east willing to help, since they don't believe he did, Is this what it has come down to? el-Megrahi can certaqainly order a bombing no matter how ill he is. Our White House has become the Wussy House. Why shouldn't guys be able to do techniques like waterboaring or shoot of a gun in the next room, as long as you don't kill him. I am going to hate to see what they come up with. Oh, let's just put them on house arrest. /scarcasm. These new laws, knowing very little can happen to them if captured, it's going to be a terrorist's dream.

Or is this another distraction to make Bush look stupid? Whatever happened to Peloci's problems with the CIA? Swept under the rug. I do love what that enraged said - if People wants to see a swastika, she should look on her own sleeve. That made me giggle. If Bozo Obama ends up shoving this so-called government option plan, I think there's going to be a revolt. He doesn't care. How many times has he crossed the line already? I hope they dig deep into his actions, some of which are, or come very close to treason. Since about 4-5 months ago, I keep having this vision of Obama, Biden, Pelosi and a few others being taken out in handcuffs. You had better believe they will eventually be caught. I hope they really probe deep because I'm sure already there's enough to charge him on.

To Tim and Jacob. The only idiots here are you and idiots like you. People like you make the destruction of our country possible. Too bad that none of you and/or your families were the once killed by the terrorists. Too bad. That, perhaps would be a a small blessing in disguise for the rest of us.

  • Jacob - 17 years ago

You people are all crazy nuts. I can't believe the consistency of uneducated relentless idiots continuously surf this page. You all have no respect for the law, no respect for human beings, no respect for any sort of decency. All you people do is act on emotions and fanaticism of the extreme right winger propagandists dictated by faith based fear. You all submit your intelligence and rationale for tag line fears, "OH THE SKY IS FALLING THE SKY IS FALLING!" This is called responsibility and it's about time this country practiced such a value. You can't act the way we have for the past eight years and ignore such a grave and negative imprint left from the very ideals that you continue to preach. Get over the election, you nuts lost for a reason. Now you are all mad because the President isn't white and you all shout the word socialism like you even have any idea of what that means. You all need to receive a real education before you pretend you know what political concepts actually mean. The dumb lead the blind.

  • Tim - 17 years ago

You got to love the stupidity of the comments here. If a CIA official violated the guidelines provided, it is a federal crime. If we don't hold violators responsible for their actions, we are no better than the savages from the Middle East they are trying to protect us from.

NEW YORK IS A SHINING LIGHT OF LIBERTY AND JUSTICE TO THE WORLD. ITS STRENGTH IS ITS ADHEARENCE TO THE US CONSTITUTION, GRANTING MILLIONS WHO WENT THERE A CIVILIZED LIFE. THAT IS WHY IT WAS RUTHESSLY ATTACKED. IF AMERICIA DOES NOT ABIDE BY IT'S CONSTITUTION IT IS UNDERMINING THE PRINCIPLES OF CIVILIZATION. NOT ONLY FOR THE USA, BUT FOR THE REST OF US ,WHO LIVE IN THIS WORLD. WE ALL NEED A STRONG JUST USA.

  • Ian - 17 years ago

Wow! As someone who thought I lived in a country of laws, I can't believe how many people don't care or actually encourage ILLEGAL insitutionalized brutality and torture. In the recently released CIA report, there are documented cases of CIA officials KILLING detained suspects. Now if you think the government should be able to kill and torture whoever they want, then of course there shouldn't be any investigations and we should make that law. But someone has to explain to me why right-wingers, who are scared into a paranoid conspiracy about the government killing old people through health care reform, don't seem to care about documented cases of government officials KILLING people...? Oh thats right, they're brown muslims, not old white people.

  • Joe - 17 years ago

Boo Hoo! Our guys scared the terrorists! Why don't the people in Washington think about the things they've done to us? I'd like to get on one of the juries that come about. I'd not only vote to acquit, I'd vote that they get a medal of some kind!

  • Pablo - 17 years ago

So they had a couple of guns pointed at them and a drill turned on. Big deal, where I grew up that is common. Welcome to the wild west.

  • William - 17 years ago

I've read some of the comments on here and they are some of the most idiotic comments ever. I bet the majority of the people on here only watch Foxnews though. The people on here need a lesson on objectivism. So we should forget about all the injustices the Bush era brought on this nation? I think Bush was the ultimate terrorist. I think he is one of the most evil men ever. Wait, let me take that back. He wasn't evil, he was just a good puppet for evil. I love this country but I hate a lot of the people in it, mainly the people that watch Foxnews all the time.

  • djsingh - 17 years ago

Though it may not seem right to torture those guys. It had to be done or 9/11 would be turned into 10/11. 11/11 and so on. We would be still living in terror today. It fast how people forget those innocent people that died in those towers. And more could have if not for those tactics that provide much need information. What about their families. Would it different if it had happen to your family? Fortunately,Times have changed and those tactics are done with. The people running this country have short memories and love government providing for them. You are degrading our country. Rationalizing that you want to be fair when what you really want is to be lazy and taken care of. The Silent Majority has awaken. No it's not just republicans, it's the "American People" who live in our beloved Democratic Republic known as the United States of America

  • djsingh - 17 years ago

What a waste of money. Blame, blame, blame. Obama and the democrats leaders cry that Bush created all this is a farce. They just love spending money. They can't spend the money on healthcare, pork and TART, so they waste on something else and attach the blame. Their on the hot plate for what they have done and want to do. So it's back to the blame game.

  • TC93068 - 17 years ago

Well, no big surprise on the results of this poll. Being a good republican means being unaccountable for anything. Especially when it comes to human rights violations. To use the words of George W. Bush: "America is a nation of laws." We have laws against torture yet under Cheney/Bush they were repeatedly and systematically ignored. This should not be a liberal vs. conservative issue. I don't care who is in power, if you violate laws, you should be held accountable for them. Its pretty clear that laws and ethics were violated and it came from the top down. And, we all should know by now who was making the torture decisions and it was not Bush!

  • Robert - 17 years ago

I don't think Obama cares for America or Americans~~those guys have either killed Americans, or planned to~~~also other innocent persons~~prosecute~~ , prosecute~~prosecute~~get rid of them ~~ and get on with the future !!! I am VERY concerned for our great land of the free~~~I think if Obama stays in office much longer , he will make AMERICA just another third world country !!! God please help us, and GOD BLESS AMERICA !!!

  • Lisa - 17 years ago

Hey! I've got an idea! Let's just tickle the terrorist with a feather until they're laughing so hard they can't catch their breath!! Boy! I bet they'd spill the beans then! Oh........wait a minute..........the animal rights activist wouldn't let us use a real feather......that'd be cruel to the animals....uh oh, double whammy! Come on, people!! Wake up!!! Islam wants us (any non-muslim) D-E-A-D!!!!

  • barnbaby - 17 years ago

Instead of CIA agents who are shackled by the supreme court,
the GITMO interrogators should be fathers of daughters and sons of mothers
who were murdered at WTC. Bet we would have a lot more facts now.

  • Deanna - 17 years ago

The ACLU is a private non-profit organization whose members are all hard left liberals who do nothing to protect the American people so can some one tell me why they are being supported by our ta dollars. I think it is time we all get together and swamp our represenitives with letters and e-mails demanding that they stop giving this group our tax dollars and I am sending mine tonight.

  • Deanna - 17 years ago

John, you need an education in the Geneva Convention. It does not cover terrorist. It is only to protect the men in capture in war and waring the uniform of their repective countries. The only countries to follw its doctrine are the United States and the United Kingdom. If you don't believe this then you need to sit down and talk to soldiers who fought in WWll, Korea and Vietnam about was done to them. What they are investigating right now has already been investigates three or more times by Congress, the Senate and the Dept. of Justice. This is a liberal farce to try to take the heat off them but it is again pee peeing the peope off. Hope it, as the President said, has his people all wee weed up! As far as torture is concerned, where our men are trained to resist torture their religion teaches that it is alright to talk to avoid torture so torture away. I am a 62 year old grandmother and I here to tell you I would have no prolem hanging them by their family jewels if it would protect my family. The fact is the Clinton regime so undermined the CIA and refused to listen to their warnings about terrorist cells for two years before the attack on 9-11 might not have happened and if you think this isn't true then answer why Sandy Burger stole top secret papers pertaining to what was known by Clinton and the Democrats before the attacks and shredded them if they didn't contain facts that would make liars out of them. American interests inculding our embassies, military barracks and the USS Cole were all atacked on Clintons watch and he did nothing. Because of his inaction the terrorist thought they could attack us on American soil without fear of retribution but they messed up because they came up against a man, )instead of liberal we are sorry, can we talk abut this and you can tell us what we did wrong to make you want to murder us wimp). They ran up against a man who said you don't attack my people and my country and get away with it. Now thanks to Obama Iraq, which had cone so far is again being attacked, something Bush warned them would happen if they set a pull out date, and the terrorists are again building strength in Afghanistan because they know the liberal Democrats don't have the guts to protects us. We will be attacked again because the liberals are once again underming all efforts to protect us from the terrorists and are putting our soldiers by undermining the very people they rely on for intelligence that will aid in saving their lives. God, save America from this Obamanation and minons!!!

  • Ray - 17 years ago

I want to ask the Justice Department and the ACLU to begin an investigation into the actions, decisions of every terrorist on the planes when they attacked America. I would like them to investigate their lives back through Elementary school to find out why they decided to take thousands of American lives on Sept. 11. I think we need to find those answers FIRST before we question WHY Americans acted in response to the TERRORIST ATTACKS people!!! Get a life! Cops don't act any different when questioning AH's to tell the truth...why are people acting SOOOO offended we would try everything we could to find the truth? Like Jack Nicholson said...YOU CAN'T STAND THE TRUTH!

    I have a better idea:
Can "WE THE PEOPLE," investigate Pres. Obama, his Administration & Congress for possible violations of the law, including: Phishing; Spamming; Confiscating personal property (cell phones) at the airport as he & his family went to Martha's Vinyard (I'm married to an elected law enforcement leader, who was absolutely insensed when he heard that!); for violations of FOIA & potential gross misuse of public funds - as American's continue to lose their homes, jobs, healthcare & lives (while the Obama's live high on the hog off our dime! For example, Did it really cost taxpayers over $30,000 for his daughter's birthday party & to fly her little buddies from Chicago to the Whitehouse? Exactly how many MILLIONS of U.S. taxpayer dollars did it cost us for their BROOD to take their China & European Family Vacation (& now Martha's Vinyard!)? We already know their one night date to New York cost us OVER $750,000 of our money! Again, while Americans suffer, they're living the life of luxury, even thought the Obama's are MULTI-MILLIONAIRES, already!); and how much taxpayer money are the Obama's using for their elaborate dinner parties to wine & dine some FELONS in ACORN, some of his unvetted CZARS & others they refuse to disclose, despite legal requirements to do so?! ABUSE of AUTHORITY comes to mind.
Nowhere in the U.S. Constitution does it say that anyone in government has the right to play God (HR 3200, Obama's healthcare bill gives him that "authority" & once he gets anything even remotely close to his socialist healthcare through, Obama & his Democrats will have CONTROL over EVERY citizen's most fundamental being...Their life)! I have openly heard Pres. Obama state that he believes he "is a partner with GOD" in a position of authority literally to determine life & death issues!
Every American MUST stand up & work to peacefully STOP THIS MADNESS & out of control socialism, hell-bent on ruining our beloved U.S.A.!
Every man, woman & child who'se died to protect our freedoms and promote the love & good will that our country has shared at home & abroad, deserve much better than this! If we don't stand up & defend our Constitution, they all will have died in vain. I love my country, my people & honor our Lord, God, Jesus Christ. I hope America's paying attention & working hard to stop this out-of-control madness. PLEASE..."Ask NOT what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country." - JFK (We can protect & defend our people & our U.S. Constitution.)

so many responders are taking the S curve around the question. "Obama is just creating a distraction" Obama wants to deflect criticism away from his current political agenda" blah blah blah. The issue folkks is that the Bush adminstration did not adhere to the Geneva Convention, What we signed up for was the protection against torture, plain and simple. If we do it to others they will do it to our troops ten fold. Oh, how we criticized the Japanese, the Chinese, the Nazi's,
and Vietnam for the torture of our brave soldiers..and in a wink it looks like the majority or responders are sinking to that very same level.
NOW, LET ME SAY that I am NOT a bleeding heart for terrorists. Hijackers and Pirates who threaten our citizens on the high seas should, in my opinion, be shot on the spot immediately upon capture. Hurray for our Navy Seals for taking out those Pirates when Obama waffled around for days. Torture for Terrorists, Hijackers, Pirates ? No way! A quick bullet to the head, no pain- just dead! That's the way a war is really fought.

To Obama and libs I'd say go ahead, stay the course on everything, health care, cup and f......k, kiss rears of the dictators, raise taxes on working people, call as MOB and un-American and in 2010 and 2012 we, the people will give you the ‘love’. As for the CIA. You are guys my and every normal person heroes. You are our defenders. If your actions, however harsh resulted in one American life saved then you should be given a medal and all the true Americans thanking you.

Obama is a threat to America!!
He is Anti-American, these FACTS, evidence his Anti-America views:

-his wife Michele: "I've never been proud to be
    American until now".

    -his association with uncontroverted terrorist Ayres;

-his association/attendance/friendship with Rev. Jeremiah Wright:
    ....you know...."God Damn America"......and... "U S of KKK";

    -his release of known and convicted Al Qaeda operatives from prison;

-his intent to prosecute our United States interrogators.

We must stop this Madman. Do all you can to prevent Congress from
letting him do anymore damage to our country. Be aware my countrymen.

This is another red herring to divert the media attention away from the failing Obama policies. Working to.

To all of the posters that want to bash the previous administration ....close your eyes, think about your family, your kids, your mom, dad, aunt and uncle. They are all on a plane headed out for a family get together ut on the coast, your driving to meet them; wow sounds like a great time doesnt it. Open your eyes, the plane has been blown up, they are all dead - now what? I guess you are ok with this and are not upset with your president for bowing to people that want to kill us. Why don't you say I'm sorry for your loss to all of the familes that lost members in 9/11 - we will never forget in Wyoming....ship the terror seekers out here and we will deal with them. God Bless America!

  • grandmaB - 17 years ago

Why would we want to protect those who wanted to kill us? And why would we want to prosecute those who were protecting us? This and must of the other things in this Admin. are mind boggling. I think that is what he wants. Notice I did not make he capital.

Obama has an agenda alright! He wants our government agencies, CIA, FBI to be "transparent" and "hold accountability" and shake hands and bow to the terrorists and those nations - why not tell them all our trade secrets? Whatever President Bush did when in office, he KEPT US SAFE. Obama is opening up the door so that we are not safe, from terrorists, and he's working the system from within towards breaking down our AMERICA, and letting in islamic idealogy AND the beliefs other than who we truely are!
Obama has a mission with Pelosi in his back pocket, blinking her eyes, yes Miss Blinkie!! every time she speaks! I hear "air" and watch her "twitter eyes"- I really Thank Dennis Miller for finally someone "speaking out about her!" Health care reform cannot happen the way his regime is going, he needs to be stopped in his tracks, and the media needs to be the "investigative agency" towards exposing everything they can get their hands on - - I watch Fox News because they tell it like it is, and encourage us AMERICANS to think!!
By the way, wish you would talk about AMERICANS - not black americans, not white americans, but - AMERICANS.....anyone who wants to put their country of origin in Front of American...should go back there.....I don't know when it went from Black Americans, to African Americans, but the Africans have an agenda, and I feel we should all wear T shirts stating: "Either you're an American, or you Ain't" -- go back to Africa if you want to keep calling yourself that! I'm not a racist, but I have grown to be more prejudice because of the behavior and attitudes expressed by those who want to gripe about it- using the word "racist" at every corner....and it's not the white person who started the spat! You wanna spat, go back to your roots where fighting and trading your own people to slavery is the history and heritage where you came from!

  • Chris - 17 years ago

Whatever happened to the U.S. doing the right thing and being an example to the world? When I was growing up, the thing that I always was told by my military father and grandfather was that we were different than the "enemy" because we had values such as not torturing prisoners. How can we lead if we are hypocrits? Now all of you people in this Fox chat room are willing to sweep those values under the rug for the sake of political expediency. The rule of law is the rule of law. You should go live in China or Russia where your views on torturing prisoners would be gladly accepted. Quit letting your political viewpoint get in the way of what is wrong and right. You lessen yourselves and the ideals that this great nation stands for.

  • Quint - 17 years ago

Seriously, George Bush and VP Cheney have truly destroyed a great country. By thinking they were cowboys, they rode rough-shod over the Constitutions with illegal wiretaps and by invading a nation that had not done us harm. It crimes have been committed they must be prosecuted. It the cowboys had not done such a poor job then the US would not be the laughing-stock of the world. Sorry, FOX face it. Please do not use these unscientific poll results as evidence that America has spoken about these alleged crimes.

  • GARY R TOMS SR - 17 years ago

Our enemy Alcaida wears no discernable uniform; therefore, under the rules of war agreed to in Geneva many years ago assign NO RIGHTS AT ALL TO ANYONE CAPTURED IN ACTION!!!!

This is a military dicision, not an American Court system with all the rights of an american citizen.

American has been punished by GOD with STUPIDITY!!!

  • Bobbie - 17 years ago

This Obama Administration sure knows how to waste time & $$$.
These brave people of the CIA who work undercover and in very dangerous situations, and now will be under a constant cloud of suspicion - how will this affect their performance?
And to think that "terrifying" the worst terrorists in the world will now be off the table? What's wrong with Obama? or whoever is running this administration ??

  • Joe - 17 years ago

It seems like we forgot 9/11. The next one could be worse like a nuke in Manhatten, Chicago or LA. These jihadists will stop at nothing. They could kill several huindred million Americans and take joy in it. This is a new era and may go on for decades until we have the guts to fight it with total force and dedication.

  • Joe - 17 years ago

I cannot imagine what must be going on in Langley right now. Where is Penetta in this outrage? Goodby America - Obama is in the process of dismantelling the country.

  • Lips - 17 years ago

Dick Cheney should be tried as a traitor and hung for betraying this country by revealing a agent of the US to our enemies. Then Bush should be stripped of his pension and secret service security for lying to Americans. Dick Cheney is a Stalin character and should be eliminated as Stalin eliminated his own countrymen. Rush Limbaugh should be tried for inciting racists against our government under the Terrorist Act. We would keep Ann Coulter, even though she is not that smart because of her legs and nothing else.

  • Duane - 17 years ago

If they prosecute Bush, their next target should be FDR and Truman. If you are naive enough to believe that there wasn't interrogation tactics far more abusive and harsh during WWII and the Korean conflict then you are living with your head in the sand. It is a darn good thing we didn't have the media we now have, during WWII and Korea. If we would have, we would have lost both WWII and the Korean conflict. Democrats just can't GET OVER IT.
They are a very vindictive party.

  • Robert - 17 years ago

Real interrogators, the kind that actually get useful information, say that torture doesn't work and that it is counterproductive--it puts US soldiers at risk. Former military interrogator in Iraq Matthew Alexander says "How anyone can say that torture keeps Americans safe is beyond me--unless you don't count American soldiers as Americans."

Former Naval intelligence officer and former Assistant Sec of Defense under REAGAN, Lawrence Korb said "The highest levels od the US military, the DoD and the White House must be held accountable for putting our troops at risk and diminishing America's authority across the globe."

We conservatives are supposed to be about military honor and protecting indivdual rights from the power of the state. We should be against torture and for accountability.

  • Roy - 17 years ago

Holder lets the Black Panthers off for intimidating our citizens from voting for someone other that Obama then turns around and gets high priced lawyers to investigate our CIA for intimidating the freaks trying to kill our citizens. Where is the justice.

  • MBGolfer - 17 years ago

Why doesn't Holder (Obama) go after the tax evaders with the same vigor?
Half of the Cabinet would be in jail.
Nothing but an attempt to take the spotlight off the sinking Health Care Plan.

  • Gary - 17 years ago

Just using this as leverage to pass ObamaCare. They hope to cover the front pages of all the newspapers with this bull while they throw another slight of hand trick to pass their agendas without anyone knowing it until its to late.

  • Mae - 17 years ago

We have weakened this country beyond anything I could have imagined.
How do we make an enemy believe we mean business after this witch hunt.
    A sad day for America.

  • Deana - 17 years ago

What prompted this investigation? Did those BRAVE TERROR SUSPECTS get WEE WEE'd UP over those mean old CIA agents?

  • Glen - 17 years ago

I think we should have tortured them like they did our men and women. Waterboarding is way to good for these scum bags. It is beyond me that we have to be so careful about getting information from these low life animals when the Geneva Convention states terrorists are not included. I pray to God we prevail and this backfires on these libs that want nothing but harm to our Nation. I have never in my life been so upset at what we are putting up with from the left. We must unite and get rid of the absolute total scum in the democratic party. If I was a parent of a fallen soldier I would be livid, and my blood boils over this now. I pray to all of our families having to deal with our own government that appears to care way to much about our enemies, instead of who they need to be worried about. God help us and please forgive me for wanting revenge on the dems.. but they freakin' deserve to go down, and never gain power ever again. We need to vote respect and honor back into all branches of government.

  • Joyce B - 17 years ago

Not only do I think this is to distract from the health care plan, I think Obama is a puppet who doesn't have a clue

  • Nancy - 17 years ago

This action of going back, makes me fearful for our brave servicemen and women. It also makes me fearful for the safety of my family and all American families.

The enemy did not waterboard our brave young men, they beheaded some of them.

I am praying for all our leaders, please make wise decisions.

  • Miriam Feldstein Case - 17 years ago

Anyone who would want to punish the interrogators should review the photos of 9/11! Did the victims, who were obliterated that day, have any compassion or laws to protect them? No, they were murdered, and anyone, who thinks that terrorists should not be harshly interrogated, must not remember the events of that infamous day.

  • uj - 17 years ago

comrad obama has once again shown America that he is a terrorist lover. Shame on him and the democrats for purposely weaking the nation's security, and making America the laughing stock of the world. The terrorists are probably having a good laugh at the naivety and idiocy of obama and the dumocrats. Once the terrorists were interrogated, they should have been executed instead of being fed at taxpayer expense. Obama seems to forget (or does he?) that these terrorists want to kill all Christian and Jewish Americans. Wonder what religion Obama is

  • Robert - 17 years ago

I feel that these Idiots (with a capital I - who are seeking and releasing information on how we are dealing with the enemy - and they are our enemies, and who are calling for reopening of the alledged abuses) are tantamount to aiding and abetting the enemy! If only 1 American citizen and/or soldier are harmed because of these Idiots, I will hold o'bama and his leftiest cronies personally responsible!
