Joanna Taylor is an extraordinary librarian. She always has a cheery and positive outlook towards the students and particularly takes the reluctant readers under her wing. In classes she is always assisting students with choices of book and as an avid reader herself ( every night, often until the wee hours) she is able to make up to date and relevant suggestions. She is innovative in the way the library is set out and maintained. she keeps us all up with the latest books on line as well and journals etc too.
As an English teacher I find she is one of my greatest resources and is always very happy to find books, prepare reading lists on any topic and encourage the students to reach beyond the ordinary. I believe she should be chosen for her care , helpfulness, encouragement and inspiration well beyond anything I ever seen from a school librarian in the large number of schools I have worked in.

  • Nicole Doria - 13 years ago

Joanna's enthusiasm for reading is infectious, inspiring all those around her. And who else could also help design the colour scheme and decor of the library too!

  • lynette james - 13 years ago

I bought a laptop and ipod to download all of my cds. I was extremely nervous about achieving this goal. Without Anna G from Inverloch library I would not have got past first base. She helped me to set up I tunes on my laptop and then got me going. I am indebted to her help patience and diligence. I realise now how complicated the I tunes software is, and it requires lots of practice to master. She is also very skilled with computer technology and she is an excellent troubleshooter. Thanks again Anna. Lynette James

  • Margie Birbara - 13 years ago

Joanna Taylor is an amazing librarian. Not only is she a font of knowledge about the books in the library but she carefully and caringly helps students select books relevant to their interests and needs. She is an incredible devourer of books herself, staying up to the wee hours of the morning reading and reading. She can therefore give very up to date recommendations regarding what to read.
She supports me, as an English teacher in all that I do, whether it be organising booklists for particular classes, helping the students find books or inspiring everyone to read and locate resources.
She is the most active participant Ihave ever seen in a school library at any school i have worked at.
She should certainly win the vote!!!

  • Pauline Turner - 13 years ago

Joanna has an enormous wealth of knowledge in a broad range of areas pertaining to Library work.
Her ability to work with individual students and their specific needs in reading is commendable.
Joanna has a gift in broaden a readers thinking through accessing their particular preferences then adding to this with wide reading options and introducing students to books that they would never have accessed privately. I have witnesses many of our Boarders go from never reading to become avid readers and all because they found inspiration and understanding in Joanna. Joanna demonstrates true understanding and empathy to students and staff through the vehicle of a center for Learning/ Library.

Sharon is exceptional working with children. It is inspiring to see how she can connect and keep children many from non English backgrounds so focused and entertained with her story telling.
