Fox's polls show that most people want to know how government answers their questions. These taxpayers have the right to know. Only guilt, answering a question openly, causes hesitation or refusal.

As I see it, FOXNEWS has a couple great TV personalities but after that, there is too much to be desired and I think that is the rub on the TV station. Who can argue with O'Reilly? Who can argue with the first two minutes of Glenn Beck? After the 62 minutes of programming FOXNEWS might have an additional hour or so of great programming all day long. The rest is garbage. You can see it in the newsreaders body language that they are not informed or behind what they are reading and for the most part, I am not convinced they understand the material. You can turn FOXNEWS on during the daytime and get sick of the show within minutes unless NASA is shooting off a rocket etc. Its' when these day time news readers keep blasting Obama, keep bringing up some stupid point, mistake, opinion, nonsense, every five minutes with nothing meaningful to add is what is annoying. Actually, it makes a fool out of the reader and FOXNEWS and it has created this debacle. Maybe FOXNEWS should consider being something less than a 24-hour news station.

It looks like Halloween came early this year, and the Fox fiends are out looking for the Great Pumpkin.
The director of Fox "News" said flat out, "we have an agenda." This was back in the 1990s and he (Roger Ailes) is still there. I see no reason not to take him at his word. They are not fair. They are not balanced (similar to many of their devotees, from reading some comments above). They DO have an agenda, which they pursue with a zeal bordering on the same fanaticism I see from some of their followers, most of whom, I'll bet, had NO problem whatsoever with Fox fawning over the failed Bush presidency of 2001-2009.
Europe likes Obama, but not because they watch CNN. Most of Europe does not speak English, and they watch (and read--remember how to do that?) news in their own languages, presented by their own people. They don't need Americans to give them their own news. I've been stationed in Europe for many years now, and I have yet to meet a European who prefers CNN to their own programming.
Europe likes Obama because he realizes there are other countries on this planet besides our own, because he does not tell them "my way or the highway," because he listens as well as talks (and speaks English correctly, so their interpreters can understand him). In short, they like him because he is everything Bush and the Republicans are not. CNN had nothing to do with it. Indeed, the Europeans who see CNN broadcasts here tend to think they are biased toward the right. They don't get Fox for the most part. In Germany, extreme Nazi-like propaganda is still forbidden by law, so Fox would never get a license to broadcast there anyway.

After re-reading the U.S. Constitution the other day, it occurred to me, the founding fathers really knew what they were doing when the put the second amendment right after the first. Wow, do you think there might have been a reason for that?
Jim P. - 16 years ago
Just a few of my thoughts:
1. If the Obama admins ideas are so great, why are they afraid of Fox?
2. We are fortunate. We get both extremes in news. I hope is stays that way.
3. While traveling Europe I am amazed how much they like Obama. Of course, their only view of the U.S. is through the eyes of CNN.
4. Where's the change and openess he promised.
5. And finally, I would be happy to accept any health care plan "they" come up with as long as "they" will use the same one. Is that really asking so much? Why do they have their own seperate health care system? Don't they work for us? Did I miss something here?

Wow! how things change so fast! As a President Obama should have never trusted the media! Now I believe this is the beginning of the end for him! You can't attack the free press and expect them to keep liking you! The media will stab you in the back while giving you applause to your face! I think Obama has trusted the wrong people to be his friends! This is rather sad because it was the media who created him! I can't wait to hear what Rush says about this!

Fox didn't tell anyone to vote here--we told each other. If you're still blinded to what this Marxist government is doing, be prepared to bend over and take your freedoms up the patootie. It's coming, baby! All your elitist entitlements will soon be provided by the government unless we fight back...and trust me, you won't like them! Did you ever hear the phrase, "I'm from the government, and I'm here to help you?" Yeah--it USED TO get a good laugh! Not any more!

Free speech ladies and gentlemen, free speech.
This country was built on some very profound rights
and this was a very important one. Censoring a news
program that contains editorial comments is against free
speech and a dangerous precedent for our government.
Not to mention the credibility liberals will lose as they become
dogmatic, rigid and intolerant.

I wonder what the faux zombies have to say now since they're up on the polls? But of course fox knows about this poll and told their audience to go vote their way. Hmmm I wonder what would happen if the white house gave a shout out to all their free thinking citizens?

Fox Rules!! Kicks Butt!!!! if you don't like their views, vices or channel ther is a button on your remote or Tv that says off or next channel. Funny tho, their ratings are extremely high. So what does that say about all you losers who don't watch or want to cray about what they have to say. You can say your bs and they can't. Where's their freedom to exercise free speech or is just for liberala and Democrats to be able to spew their socialistic view. Think about it peple if the so called Govt and present administration is able to try and squash reporting or a news Channel who is next?? YOU!!!!!!!

Many people have fought and died for the freedom of speech. How sad we are even having to debate this matter. Let's face it....we need to take our freedoms more seriously. This so called President was elected by people who probably cannot even afford a television on which to watch FOX broadcasts. Most of them were pulled off the streets by ACORN workers and given a hot meal in turn for their vote. I enjoy the intelligent, educated, knowledgeable and straight forward information FOX produces. It's obvious the White House is worried about what we will learn from it. Be afraid...be very afraid. Wake up America. George Washington is flopping over in his grave about now.

I find that it is interesting that Fox does ask tough questions. The other News programs on Television do not, in fact, they editorialize in their reporting. They have not even investigated the open door to the Death Commission that is already law in P.L. 111-5 dated 17 February 2009 that is also called the Ameria Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Stimulus Law) in Title VIII. What does "Quality of Health Care" mean? It is so open ended that it will be what ever the Commission writes and publishes in the Federal Register.
It will follow the criteria that is published in former HEW Nominee Tom Daschle's book on adopting the European model for health care. People on Medicare that have passed the Acturary Table for "Life Expectancy" will be hard pressed to get care that will extend their life. We need to correct the problems with Medicare and we will also save money on Social Security! That according to a staffer on the Senate Finance Committee!

What is all the big fuss about. This is just the same thing that all Dictatorships and Fascist governments do when they are in their infancy. Stop all the worrying. Next year you will have free health care. And soon after that, all jobs will pay the same. Isn't that what you spineless little communist liberals have wanted all along. Well you are about to get what you want. Oh, and now you can report the the Central Office for your new work assignment. Might be pitch forking hay into a wagon because global warming, excuse me climate change regulations from the UN, will shut down all combustion engines in all industrial complex countries who have kept the rest of the world in poverty. All because of you idiots who follow the liberal democratic mantra.

THEY ARE NOT DOING NOTHING ABOUT JOBS, HOUSING, COST OF GAS, FOOD AND ETC.....WANT TO RAISE TAXES ON ALL THE AMERICAN PEOPLE....WE ARE TAXED POOR NOW.....OBAMA IS TRYING TO LEAD US TO THE ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT.....VERY BAD FOR AMERICA!!!! The President made an oath to uphold our Constitution. He should be looking at the first amendment:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging [curtailing, restricting]the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Then we see the President saying that Fox News is not a news network because he doesn't like the popularity of the Fox commentators and what they say.
This is totally an attempt to abridge the freedom of speech and press.

I feel that fox news is at least addressing some questionable topics that seem off limits with other networks. If the whitehouse can't deal with fox how will they handle real issues. Why, when there are so many serious problems that this is country is facing, are they worrying about a network that they themselves have labeled not a "real" network! I listen to NPR as well and I think the more we listen to fox the more we seek out other sources to check validity. Can the whitehouse not believe that Americans can figure out for themselves which networks/ reports are valid?
Chica's Mom - 16 years ago
Someone made a very good point. How can we expect a man who can not handle criticism to be a strong world leader? If he has trouble with criticism at home, how can he be strong for America abroad? The answer to this question is obvious and that is why he spends most of his time traveling the world apologizing to anyone who will listen. A true Christiam does not apologize for his religion or deny it before others. A strong leader does not fold under criticism nor govern by quashing free speech.
JAC - 16 years ago
I am a self-proclaimed moderate and have never voted a straight party ticket in my life (however, I do feel we all have a responsibility to vote). I did not vote for Senator Obama because I didn't feel he had the leadership experience required to be successful in the job of president. This is another unfortunate incident where the president displays his lack of maturity as a leader. When you are the one at the top the buck stops with you. You are in the hot seat and cannot do your job properly if you are so thin skinned that you cannot handle any criticism of your job performance. I am sure President Obama read the job description of president and commander- in- chief, but I'm not sure he had the political experience to internalize it- did he really think he could take this job and expect no criticism, no comments regarding his family and no disturbance to their family functioning? That level of naive thinking just supports my belief he was not prepared for the position.
Now that he is there, prepared or not, he has a responsibility to up-hold the rights of ALL Americans- even the ones he doesn't like. I find it hard to beleive that the president is willing to sit down and speak with some of the most radical and dangerous dictators in the world, but is uncomfortable having an interview with Hannity or O'Rielly? Part of being in charge is being professional enough to manage your communication with the people you agree with and the people you don't.
Hopefully, it is just a lack of experience we are seeing and not a more serious move down a path toward censorship and other abuses of power. This has definitely raised my flags and I will continue to watch these elected and appointed officials for signs that they are no longer working for me,a law abiding, tax-paying citizen of the United States, and take appropriate action. Afterall, we the people are in the driver's seat and more voters need to remember their obligations as citizens and take the responsibility seriously. If we don't, we will have no one to blame the consequences on but ourselves.
Chica's Mom - 16 years ago
It should frighten every clear-thinking American that any White House can determine who can and who can not report news, regardless of their leanings. What has happened to professional journalism in America? You may not like everything FOX has to say, but, if you don't watch FOX, you don't know two-thirds of what is happening in the world and especially in this administration. Our president is entirely too thin-skinned. If George Bush had been half as thin-skinned as Obama, he would be bones by now. The media was never kind to Bush but he never tried to quash any of them. He took them all in stride and lived with the consequences. In the end, he took the more presidential route. It is very unattracftive and unpresidential for Obama to take personal offense at everything and everyone who disagrees with him about anything. He would be far better off if he paid more attention to what ALL Americans are thinking and less about what the press thinks.
JESSIE - 16 years ago
I THINK FOX NEWS IS THE BEST NEWS NETWORK OUT THERE. I HAVE LEARNED NOT TO LISTEN TO ANY OF THE OTHER STATIONS. THEY ARE NOT TRUTHFUL. YOU KNOW HOW KATIE CURIC TRIED TO THROW SARAH PALIN UNDER THE BUS. CHRIS MATTHEWS FEELS A TINGLE FROM OBAMA. OBERMAN IS STRICTLY ONE SIDED, LEFT. FOX NEWS HAS THE BEST NEWSMEN, AND WOMEN AND, THE BEST LOOKING WOMEN OF ANY NEWS CHANNEL. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK , FOX..... GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.
The attacks on Fox News make it abundantly clear that President Obama can't handle criticism. Compare his antics with the steady behavior of President George W. Bush. While we may be quick to find fault with President Bush for a variety of reasons, when did he ever restrict free speech simply because he was getting piled on by the press? He just took it like a man and refused to base his decisions upon the most recent polling data. He did what he believed was right. What with his administration's chatter about the "Fairness Doctrine" and his own attacks upon Fox News (about the only conservative voice in the news media), it seems that Free Speech is in the crosshairs of the current administration. And that's a sad state of affairs indeed--especially when we're poised to nationalize our healthcare system and burden the generations to come with our own generation's inability to live within its means.

Are you that blind that you actually believe that NPR does not lean to the left? True it does not lean as far left as CNN, NBC, CNBC, MSNBC, etc, but they do lean farther left then you are giving them credit for. Fox News does actually tell the true story behind any administration including Obama, Bush 2, Clinton, and Bush 1. It is obvious to me that you have never actually listened to Fox News before your hero took the office of Presidency there for you have no idea exactly how they bashed the three previous administrations to Obama, two of which where republican.
The White House is trying to discredit any reliable source of news against the un-constitutional acts they are trying to force upon us! Had this been any other administration, the President would be impeeched for treason and held responsible for those actions! At the very least, the people of this great nation would be up in arms against the treasonous acts this administration is successfully completing.
It is not the fault of Fox News that the above mentioned networks will not show an objective view of this administration. It has all been left at the feet of Fox News! I THANK THE LORD GOD that Fox News is doing the job that they are!
You should be thanking GOD and our MILITARY that you have grown up in a nation that allows you the freedom to voice your opinion! The freedom that both GOD and our MILITARY have provided for all of us!
Thank you.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!
The WH picked the wrong fight by deviating from their responsibilities towards Americans and engaging in biased opinions.. e.g. the Gates incident!

while they should, i'm betting most republicans and conservatives do NOT get their news from PBS. Conversely most liberals and democrats don't watch Fox. so, your survey will be biased by those who watch PBS, those of a more liberal ilk. this leads me to believe the number of those who believe that Fox is biased will be higher than that of a more general population.

Anyone who does not understand the basics and history of "freedom of speech or press " is a very novice person in the history of human rights.
People who would favor silencing of Fox news (or any other news organization) really don't have a grasp of why the Constitution was necessary when this country was founded and people shoud worry that about 40% of the people (at the time of this writing) voted in the favor of the President. The 3 branches of government are the normal checks and balance provided by the founders. Whether you are Democratic or Republican when one party has the full power to shut out the other as is the case right now, (House, Senate, Administration) it should shake you to your boots. Then when one of the branches tries to silence the media, that is a red flag for trouble and cause to be worried. It you've never experienced silencing of the press, it is not something any person or nation should relish. Whether you like Fox or not, the press is your watchdog

The election is over. Barak Obama won. He is now President of the the United States; the president for all US citizens. It is time to GOVERN, if he has the ability to do so. The Obama Administration must stop the assassination of those who oppose the president's polices. Too many Americans have sacrificed blood, limbs, minds and lives to preserve the right for ALL Americans to express their views. If his policies can't pass the test of time and light or he can't personally take the criticism, then he needs to get the Hell out of there. America deserves a leader who can stand up to the enemies of the country, not someone who cannot handle American dissent.
I make these comments recognizing that I may very well wind up on the White House's enemy list because I have chosen to exercise my right of free speech.

As a veteran, I volunteered to serve my country, and when I see our present President unwilling to make a decision that does not back up the Generals he appointed, I am ashamed of him. Obama promised us no special interest lobbyists as well as a transparent administration. Obviously he uses words that he does not understand what they mean. Tell us how closed door meeting attended only by the democrats can be classified as being "Transparent". The leaders of the democratic party are trying to eliminate our constitution. The first and second amendments are being attacked every day, and Obama's administration is beginning to follow the same path the Adolph Hitler used to gain control of Germany. If we, the Americans who love our freedom and our country do not start making our objections known, there is no telling what the future will hold for us, our children and grandchildren. Thank God for men like Glenn Beck who are doing America a great service by pointing out that Obama was an organizer for Acorn, and all of us are aware of their underhanded and unethical actions.

I understand that there is a strong resentment against George W. Bush about the WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. If he was as vile as many accused, he would of found WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION and he would of planted them if he had to. Instead, he faced the consequences and the eggs that were thrown directly at his face, the CIA, and just about every other modern country in the free world. When is the last time you heard of a President requesting that a Network Media be ostracized? This time it was Fox but next it could be NPR!
CONFLICT is a SIGN OF HEALTH in a FREE REPUBLIC and is not to be SILENCED. If anything, it should be encouraged! Remember, this time it is Fox's ox to be gorged, but who will be next. Hitler silenced the media and controlled it with Goebbels......just who does Obama want us to listen to?
Think about this....both LEFT and RIGHT. As members of a FREE REPUBLIC, it is our duty, no matter what are political perspective, to encourage disparate voices, not silence them.

*Most* of the opinion shows on FOX are hosted by folks of a conservative view. The news is not. So what. What's the problem? Is it that the WH is incapable of making their case if someone - God forbid - asks a critical question? It must be.
If the WH has an issue, they've had a standing invitation to show up and make their case. What they chose to do instead was boycott, make appearances on ANY network except FOX - but including Nickolodeon - then whined because Obama didn't get his speech covered, then make appearances on CNN, and then set up a website from which they fling stones at a safe distance.
And then Obama had a private pity party with Olbermann and Maddow of MSNBC.
Assume my 'take' on that is pretty much exactly the way it sounds. For the record I could care less where any of them appear. I'd actually kind of prefer it if they stayed OFF FOX, as I actually watch them.

Since the obama administration can be better described as Communism-USA; it should not be surprising that they would try to shut down the one news channel that didn't go along with their planned takeover of the country.

The fact that the other news agencies took the side of Fox in this embroilment speaks volumes. The Obama Administration's actions in this matter can be frighteningly likened to the philosophies found in Plank 6 of the Communist Manifesto. I watch MSNBC just to see what they have to offer. It is poisonous, hate speech directed at Bush and Cheny and Palin, continuously and is dangerously polluted and slanted. Unbelievable the things they say and get away with. And they are afraid of Fox???? They should be ashamed of themselves. If the conservatives said anything like that aimed at Obama it would be sedition. Or at the very least racist and biased. Horrible stuff there. You should watch and be dismayed.

Listen up people.....All news is in my opinion somewhat "controlled" by the powers that be......I don't believe it to always be true and or accurate.....therefore you must have a brain and be able to use it, and analyize the information given. and not just be a "sheep" and show ignorance
by believing and repeating any information given.....In other words it is good to be skepticle. The best thing in all of this is that the other news stations are coming to the aid of Fox News......and wisely so, because they can see the writing on the wall....If Fox goes, could they be next??? Personally, I would prefer to still be able to call that place the White House, NOT the Hitler House...

The White House and local govt., have way to much control over the Media. What makes the person or people in the news think they can tell someone they can't cover the news. San Diego Police and Sheriff's same thing. They want to control who does the news. Only the bad people try this garbage. The jerks hiding and lying. Fox is right on and maybe someday we will get a Federal investigation into all the allegations of beatings lies and cover ups in San Diego Sheriff's and PD.
Along with some true accountability,. This is new Govt. tactics, when they hide ,cheat and lie,. Accuse the news guy of not being news. WHITE HOUSE 101. Expose corruption and charge the person exposing it. When we the people can't just get on line and view the Documents needed to qualify as the leader of this great nation. Then we the people are no longer we the people. When that very someone is in control of the news then the dictator wins

I don't think there is an unbiased source left for news unless it is The Christian Science Monitor. They still seem to adher to the who, what, when, where and how principles without adding their conjecture as to why if they don't have hard facts to support it. Civility and honesty in the news and politics has, unfortunately, seemed to have deserted the world no matter which side of the issue people are supporting. Shouting and name-calling by liberals and conservatives only makes the other side mad and gets nowhere. Fox News is guilty on there syndicated programs more than straight news. The other networks (ABC, CBS, NBC and CNN) seem to have lost their objectivity also. Maybe not with the vitriole that Fox sometimes displays, but their objectivity is gone. Although I am not a big fan of NPR because it tends to push issues with which do not necessarily agree, I do listen and I appreciate their support of free speech for all, not just for those with which I might or might not agree. I would prefer that free speech take in the rights of the speaker as well as the rights of the listener.

Been there, Watched it happen......I have worked in the pressroom for the Los Angeles Hearld American then the Examiner, the Los Angeles Times, the Daily News, the Southwest Wave, the Daily Breeze and the Wall Street Journal.
Political bias versus reporting the news became rampent in the print media and has now become the same poison to the broadcast media.
Today, at least in my opinion, the only paper that really tries to "Report the News" and not push any particular political agenda is the Wall Street Journal. CSPAN will for the most part, will report what is written or stated in many news articles and at least allow the public to voice their views.
Whats most amazing to me is how the Senate and Congress now meet behind closed doors more that ever before and one has to wonder why? Isn't this supposed to be government of the people, by the people and for the people? Then why are the politicians affraid to let the people see and hear what they are doing "BEFLORE" it becomes law?

Totalitarian governments suppress freedom of speech. Democracies do not. Politicians who are hiding key tenets of bills or policies are fearful of criticism. Conversely, those who are confident in their ideas, values, and platforms are not, and encourage open discourse and debate.
The curtain is being opened to view the Ozlike truths in Obama's world of "transparency." The hypocrisy of trying to have more conciliatory, liberal networks gang up on Fox is evident. CNBC, MSN, and the Big Three seem to sense this, and are ironically defending their TV nemesis. Why? But for the grace of God go I! Would it be OK if a conservative President asked for a ban on MSNBC, Chris Mathews, Lawrence O'Donnell, Keith Olbermann et al? I think not.
This Chicago hit style doesn't play well. Obama is no longer squeezing arms for votes in the downtown wards or strong arming recalcitrant upstate Illinois pols.
He's not the conciliator portrayed to many Americans during the primaries. Bill Ayers and Rev. Wright may be more indicative of his friends and character than many wanted to believe. This incredibly stupid, anti-free speech tact is perhaps the best empirical proof of that.

(1st amend down) You know, we really don't need all those guns (2nd amend down) We really don't need search warrants, the government needs to have immediate access (4th amend down). Once the socialists get all of those darn constitutional roadblocks out of the way, they'd be able to run this country the way it should be run, one country under allah with liberty and justice for some

I DON'T AGREE WITH MOST OF THE LEFTWING AGENDA I HEAR ON PBS BUT AS A 40 YEAR VETERAN I AM PROUD THAT YOU ARE ABLE TO PRESENT YOUR VIEWS. ONLY IN THIS THE GREATEST SOCIAL EXPERIMENT IN HISTORY DO WE HAVE A CONSTITUTION THAT GUARANTEES IT. DRIVE ON AND BE ASSURED THAT I WILL CONTINUE TO PROTECT THE CONSTITUTION AND YOUR RIGHT TO PRESENT YOUR OPINIONS.

Nothing about the Obama administration has been 'fair and balanced'. It's all far left wing extremism, and I'm adamantly opposed to out of control spending.
George - 16 years ago
Does anyone actually believe that the media, other than Fox, really reports the news? I heard on the radio that the New York Times was going to have to lay off workers because their advertisers and subscribers were using the internet for their news. Why don't they just admit that they stopped reporting the news long ago and people are sick of their bias!
If it wasn't for FOX News Americans would not have a cluye to what is going on in the Obama Administration, Acorn or any other Left Wing political organ.
Misplaced Texan - 16 years ago
Fox News is NOT “Fair and Balanced”. MSNBC leans to the Left but not as blatant as Fox News leans to the Right. I prefer NPR and CNN. Having said all of that, I firmly believe in the First Amendment. I will fight to the death for it. Fox News, as bad as they are, should remain in the White House Press Corps. End of story.
As for this poll, I am a bit suspicious at the wording for being "Pro-Fox News". "...Fox News on this one; it asks questions others don't and the White House should be able to handle them..." I don't believe the description for Fox News is correct. It's not a matter of the questions for me, but the Talking Heads and their Right Leaning reporting and Commentary that proves Fox News is "Unfair and Unbalanced."

Fox has them "outfoxed" with their intelligent reporting and let the public decide attitude....the white or black house should listen to them....

Anytime a government tries to silence the newsmedia red flags should go off.
Hitler was elected because he owned the media in Germany and silenced all his critics. Why are the other news organizations quiet on this one should be the big question.

Watching political television news shows has become very much for me like watching sports on television. (Follow the analogy and I will try to make the connection for you.) When I watch the Flyers on Comcast, I am always swelled with pride over the solid stats that the announcers share, how enthusiastic they are every time a defenseman makes a great play and when we score, and how they can explain away an error that cost us a goal as well. When I watch on ESPN, I am repulsed by the lackluster comments about our star players, I am baffled by the "read" the announcer makes about a cheap shot or a lucky goal, and I am defeated by the way they can ruthlessly blame our players for shoddy performances. Fox news is my Comcast. It is calling the "game" of politics and it is encouraging my players. They "read" the story of what is happening with conservative leaders and give us reason to support them and be proud, etc. It is slanted to the political right, but it HAS to be since every other channel out there hates my players and wants to see them fail, blame their every action, and shamelessly showcases the stars for the other side. Fox is our only option.
The notion that mainstream media isn't flagrantly liberal is blindingly clear if you are a conservative. Sticking with the sports theme, it is like being fed a diet of Yankee sports talk radio all week long while you are rooting for the Phillies. If you are a Yankee fan, it probably all seems on the up and up. The fans are quoting stats, speaking the truth about their players, etc. However, if you are devoted to the other side, it is a torturous diatribe that you cannot escape. We are all so thankful for Fox.
And I was never made to be scared by the supposed "fear mongering" that is attributed solely to conservative news media, but I admit that if a US president IS taking sides against free press then it is time to be scared.

The WHite House AND the House and Senate, NPR, the major news media, etal are dealing totally in brainwashing and NOT news.
They are indoctrinating their listeners in order to CONTROL what and how people say on given/no all, subjects. They also are conditining their listeners so that they can CONTROL what and how they actually do things. This is brainwashing at its best.
Just ask our Korean prisoners of war what brainwashing is.

Well, this is sure a fine mess that we are in!!!
If we let the WH have their way in everything, we will be another 3rd rate country.....Where is the American Spirit and the guts that our forefathers had! Get off your duff, America, and be a country to be proud of. This is not a fight over Fox~~~this a fight to suppress every one and everything. This is just the beginning. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!! If I did not have cancer, I would be out there fighting for our GOD given rights.

The way I see it the point has been entirely missed... This is a question that never should have been asked! To have asked this question gives false credibility to those who seek to stifle one of our greatest freedoms.
As I read the comments from both liberals and conservatives I'm absolutely astounded at the lack of respect shown by either side for the other. Each willingly calls the other a liar and seems unable to even consider the possibility that the other might just have a valid point
I would classify myself as a Constitutional Conservative with a good measure of Libertarian thrown into the mix. I believe our Constitution says exactly what it means with no need for interpretation. My instincts tell me that I should be conservative as I lead my life and thhey further tell me that government is almost never a solution to a problem. Rather, government usually is the problem. However wrong they be, opinions contrary to my own are absolutely valid and deserve equal status to mine here in the US.
Again I refer to the comments above and wonder if the second Civil War has already begun. A sad commentary on all of us!

What ever happened to, "I may not agree with what you said, but I will defend to the death your right to say it?"
Attempts to squash and silence opposition by politicians should be vigorously opposed by every single American, no matter which way they lean.
Watching our constitution being trampled on with hob-nailed boots should alarm everyone who calls themselves an American.

WE the people..the new Patriots are finding out who Obama really is and the people he is surrounding himself with for "transforming" our country into what they think we want. They are wrong! Why PBS and the other major networks are not covering or exposing these matters has destroyed what journalism was meant to be......our watch dog over government.... You are a government product, so what you say is no surprise. But, the others? Why?
Call Fox what you want.....but, they have our ear!

I think Fox News has a right to exist and a right to share in Wasington briefings.
I don't think they have the right to lie to their followers with misleading slogans, such as "FAIR & BALANCED" when "FLAWED & BIASED" is really the truth .

I was curious about how Obama was thought of in Russia, so i typed in Provada and found a news article in english on the subject. Putin was reported to have told Obama not to pursue his communist agenda. Putin said that they had just gone through 70 years of it and it did not work for the Russian people and it would not work for the United States either. So keeping out news teams that disagree with our presidential thinking is not the answer. Obama was accused of setting up his unelected team to control the auto and banking sectors and even electing to do the unthinkable of firing GMs CEO. Also setting up his Czarist cabinet that is not accountable to our congress. Very saddenning to have such a man in the White House. That is what Provada had to say. Glad I did not support him for his run for the presidency.
Gary Sterner - 16 years ago
The only reason Obama and his Bunch Of Thieving Bastards doesn't want Fox reporting on the thievery is because they know it's the truth. They're like the cockroaches in his kitchen. Run like hell when the light comes on. Thankfully this rotten FUCK won't get reelected.

This White House wants to censor the TV news/press and for all extent and purposes he has them all in his corner with the exception of Fox News. Anyone who fails to see this is blind and Americans are fast discovering this. Note how Fox News viewership has gone up 10% since the White House attack on them as a news organization.
People are tired of being dictated to by this administration and the sorry main stream media that has taken over the TV airwaves with their unending cheerleading for this president without doing the hard hitting journalistic questioning that used to be their stock in trade. No other recent administration in memory has received such favorable treatment as this current administration! Fox Cable News has more listeners then CNN & MSNBC combined and their viewership will only grow bigger the longer main stream media is controlled by the White House. This worries the White House and thus the reason for them to go on the attach against Fox News.

The liberals speak of Nixon's 'enemies list' with disdain 35 years after it happened...but to them this is different. If otherwise well intended people would quit covering their ears, closing their eyes and yelling "George Bush" at ear splitting levels, until an opposition view to Obama abates they would be better off. A cursory glance at this administration reveals that it is populated, at the highest levels, with hard core revolutionarys including self avowed MARXISTS for heavan's sake. These people hate the US as it has historically been constituted and when BHO said "We are days away from FUNDAMENTALLY changing the United States of America" you can take him at his word. The recent war between Fox and the WH is merely a test battle for the war to be fought. Check out Mark Lloyd, FCC Diversity Czar and get yourself a heaping helping of REALITY. The first order of business for a revolutionary government is to quell dissent and gain control of the media a la Chavez...who is their role model.
This should underscore the brilliance of the Founding Fathers making Congressional terms 2 years...The Lunacy Ends in 2010!

Tim Russert used to ask the hard questions. Sadly he is gone, so I am glad for the one remaining news network willing to ask those hard questions. You have to wonder why the WH is so fearful (or incapable) of defending their policies.

NPR, ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC are just the Fox News people except on the Liberal side. So what's the beef? George Bush took his lumps for every little thing. So now it's Obama's turn. No fault No foul!
Just get used to it.
Fox certainly does ask the questions everybody else is afraid to ask for fear of upsetting Obama. Grow up and quit acting like 3rd grade school children.
Fox is the best news agency going right now. It's the place to get real news and not the fluff all the others put on the air.
Furthermore, you let everyone get by with slamming Fox this way, and you could be next. Stop it now before it's your turn.

The obama administration is the most corrupt I've seen during my lifetime. There agenda is to transform this country into a socialist state and they make no secret of that, Just review the czars he has surronded himself with and their stated beliefs if you have any doubt. The main stream media is a joke. We are very thankful for Fox News. We must ensure Fox is not shutdown.
sally farrar - 16 years ago
Will someone please explain one, simple thing to me?
I concede that Fox is slanted and biased to the right which, as a conservative, I like. What I want to know is where was the indignation when MSNBC et al were not just critisizing GWB for 8 years but trashing the living daylights out of him and everyone and everything connected with him? That Olberman fellow and Chris Matthews, not to mention Letterman and those other "comics", were repulsive in the way that they went after the president.
I think Obama is a wretched and awful president but it would make me sick if anyone attacked him the way Bush was attacked for all those years.
There is something about the hypocrisy of the Left that is rather wicked. IMHO.
One other point: at least Fox has some representatives of the Left on their various commentary programs, i.e. Juan Williams, Mara Liasson to name two. The main streamers have no one from the right except that former congressman from Florida (what's his name? the one who sits at the desk with Brezinkski's daughter?) and he is very lame. I get the feeling he's just picking up a paycheck.

I can't even believe what is going on the WH. Of course they don't want anyone telling the public what they are really doing. It's all behind closed doors and we aren't invited to help make any of the decisions they are making that will affect each and every one of us. They will all be exempt from any of the repercutions for their actions. I don't see anyone in the WH offering to lower their paychecks and send that money to the hungry. Instead they spend their money on lawyers for their dogs

For all you liberals that simply regirgitate what the white house and the National Barak Company tell you, what Glen Beck for one week and then post one statement (non option based) or fact that he has wrong. Problem is you have all been brain washed for so long you couldn't see the truth if it smacked you in the face. Wake up idiots, the politicians (DEMS and GOP) have been playing you against each other for years while they slowly take away all the freedoms that made America great and fill there own pockets with special interest money. If you think Cuba, Russia or even Canada has a better system then I suggest you go live there. The US was founded on individual freedom and the right of every person to work hard and succeed not as an entitlment state where everone holds out there hands asking for a freebe. Get a clue before it's too late, Government run healthcare! LOL has anyone seen social security lately? It's bankrupt and worthless, try to retire on it. Want an alternative well don't ask NBC or CNN no, but Fox News posted a story on Galvisten Texas where since the late 80's early 90's the residents have been able to opt out of social security and into a private retirement fund. When comparing the two an individual making 75K per year contributing to the prvate fund will retire on over $4600 per month, where the same person would have to live on $1100 per month under social security and the private system is perfectly solvent where social security in broke. So you still want Obama care or do you think the free market system is the solution? I'll know your IQ by your answer. Botom line, nothing the goverment does ever works and politicians are corrupt money grubbing power grabbing career scum bags with only therir own interests at heart. Be smart and vote the next election based on the canidate that most reflects your values and not the one with the best smile and the smoothest delivery.

I watch the Lehrer News Hour daily! When I am out, I tape it. It is fair and always gives both perspectives.
I refer to myself as a social democrat and a fiscal conservative. Definitely middle of the road. I voted in the poll for FOX.
I never listen to or watch FOX news. Too far to the right BUT MSNBC is just as biased favouring the leftt. The White House isn't listening to the population is saying about MSNBC and to a lesser degree CNN.
I am very uncomfortable when I hear the White House demonizing FOX. Under the present circumstances, I do not feel that it is in the WH purview to chastise a news outlet in the manner that it has been!!!

Are we really surprised that the government is once again neglecting the rights of the people? Can we really say we are surprised that they are trying to silence people who question them? If they silence the questions they have no one to answer to. We should all be scared right now because this is only the begining. If we don't take a stand then who will? In responce to the person who said people who watch Fox news are morons, if having a moral fiber, believing in freedoms, and having faith in God makes me a moron then yes I am a "Moron" I pray for our country everyday that more morons are willing to speak out for what they believe!! Go Fox keep asking the questions that cause doubt in what our government is trully doing.

Acorn, Van Jones, Rev. Wright, Tea Party's, 9/12 D.C. March -- newsworthy all but where was the other media? They are all Lap Dogs for Obama and his cast of radical Czars. The liberals who yell the loudest about Free Speech only mean "liberal free speech". MSNBC is Obama's direct media arm and as long as the media falls in line with their policies they are deemed newsworthy. Wake up before America becomes Cuba and a banana republic.

Response to Kyle: Ha! I'm not a lib. I'm in agreement with most of the comments posted. I just simply stated that this poll is flawed because it allows more than one vote. I'm sure that there are some crazy libs wasting their time manipulating the votes. I find it hard to believe that a majority of people would want their freedom of speech taken away. FOX has the right to do what they're doing and their questions are right on. IMO, there could be harder questions asked. Other media sources have been a disgrace to journalism. I now pray that the people and the states wake up. Contact your representatives and tell them what "YOU" want the state to do.

I bet back to George Washington's time, administrations provided information to the rag linens that they liked, and snubbed the rags that they didn't like. Nobody's denying Freedom of Speech to Fox News. They can say pretty much whatever they want, the government won't muzzle or censor it. This is an opportunity for Fox to gumshoe and expose more interesting stories. I, for one, want hard news, not the lazy journalism of a TV station interviewing administration officials.

Fox news is the best of all the rest when it comes to news reporting. Oreilly leads the way. He is fair and balanced. There is one, just one reporter that is partial to the conversatives. He's a patrioit but I must admit I get upset with him. I feel the White House is acting like a little spoiled child going after Fox News. If they don't get their way, your going to get bullied. It's not working and you just watch and see the White House backing off. My goodness the White House has so many other priorities that are being neglected. The attention the White House is giving Fox News is sending Fox News ratings sky ward. I wonder what NBC, CBS ABC, CNN and other networks are thinking. It's not wise to follow the Pied Piper.

I don't know why we the people of the United States can not hear the truth. What is our goverment trying to hide form us. Let FOX NEWS report the truth that is what all our reporters should. Obama reminds of a street thug. Trying to bully his way into getting things done. That is Chicago politics. I wish we could impeach Obama for the lies he has told to the American people. I love watching Fox every morning and night. If I watched ABC, NBC or CBS I would think everything in this country was just dandy. Well it isn't and it isn't getting better as the WH would like us to believe. Thumbs up to Fox! Keep asking the tough questions.
"Douglas Gary SAID:
2009-10-26 16:29:11 ET
Fox's polls show that most people want to know how government answers their questions. These taxpayers have the right to know. Only guilt, answering a question openly, causes hesitation or refusal.
Let us all pull together. If there is something to be shameful for, each of us needs to address it. If you receive a paycheck because it is your job, then let's make sure it is done right. We are America, one and all, and best on the planet!"

OMG I just read the comment from "Carlos" "Everyone needs to support our Dear Leader in his efforts to control the media. " Oh holy mother of God, what planet are you from? That truly says it all...you got it Carlos....he is trying to control the media !!!! What's next? Controlling what we see on television, controlling what we read in books, do we need to ask permission to leave our homes???? Someone please tell me this "Carlos" is not Obama's Mama.
One of the worst situations would be to allow the government to pick and choose which news organizations are legitimate. Clear thinking individuals from either the right or left can easily see this.
FOX NEWS IS THE BEST!!!! THEY REVEAL THE TRUTH OF ALL THE LIES THE OBAMA GOVERNMENT IS TELLING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE....THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE NOT STUPID....THEY CAN SEE THRU THIS ADMINISTRATION....THEY ARE ONLY LOOKING FOR THEMSELVES AND "NOT" THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.....WHAT HAPPENED TO THE ECONOMY? THEY ARE NOT DOING NOTHING ABOUT JOBS, HOUSING, COST OF GAS, FOOD AND ETC.....WANT TO RAISE TAXES ON ALL THE AMERICAN PEOPLE....WE ARE TAXED POOR NOW.....OBAMA IS TRYING TO LEAD US TO THE ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT.....VERY BAD FOR AMERICA!!!! PEOPLE NEED TO WAKE UP!!!!
Fox won me over by using the Whitehouse's own words and video to hang it out to dry. As a Chicagoan, I can tell you, if you don't toe the line, you will get trampled by the politicians. Now these same folks have brought their antics to Washington.
NRH :)
Someone made a very good point. How can we expect a man who can not handle criticism to be a strong world leader? If he has trouble with criticism at home, how can he be strong for America abroad? The answer to this question is obvious and that is why he spends most of his time traveling the world apologizing to anyone who will listen. A true Christiam does not apologize for his religion or deny it before others. A strong leader does not fold under criticism nor govern by quashing free speech.
@Matthew Lee
Folks, Obama and our government is looking out for us. At this time of great social and economic instability, he should be able to get rid of ANY opposition that doesn't support what he is trying to do.
Everyone needs to support our Dear Leader in his efforts to control the media.
You have to be kidding me! Hasn't anyone ever heard of the First Admendment?!
Nowhere in the Constitution does it say, And the President can decide what is news.
NPR - National Propaganda Radio
Liberal/Progressives true facist colors come out when it comes to freedom of speach AGAINST their position.
I am an liberterian who was not a Fan of Bush but watched the liberal media spend 8 years going to great lengths to make fun of Bush's mistakes.
You liberal/progressives need to grow a thicker skin - or, better yet, scrurry back to your roach motels - We know how you fear the light of the facts.
Since the obama administration can be better described as Communism-USA; it should not be surprising that they would try to shut down the one news channel that didn't go along with their planned takeover of the country.
All the anchors of all the alphabet networks and the other cable entities were evidently happy to become one of barack's whores and dish out propaganda 24/7!
Muzzle the Fox dogs.......oops, you gottcha catch em first and be careful they don't bite you......after all, the President's point of view is the only one that counts. The rest of you...just shut up.
"What amendment?........who cares".
The fact that the other news agencies took the side of Fox in this embroilment speaks volumes. The Obama Administration's actions in this matter can be frighteningly likened to the philosophies found in Plank 6 of the Communist Manifesto. You've got to hand it to Obama for his unabashedness, I suppose. He wears his Marxist ideals like a bright red cape for all to see.
Why should the whitehouse critize FOX news. I've heard of people letting the fox in the chicken house, we've got a bunch of Skunks in the whitehouse.......
The "red" phone on Glen Beck's desk has yet to ring with answers to all the "questions" concerning this W.H. administration's actions and associations. The silence speaks for itself I believe! America beware!! The alarm clock is ringing!
I thought the promise of the President was that he would be the president of all people, not just the liberals. Just another promise broken - among many others. Sounds like the administration has a hearing problem. I seldom have ever reponded on these things (I am 79) but I guess it's time to let my voice be heard. ADMINISTRATION - LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE -- WE DO HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOICE OUR BELIEFS AND BE HEARD --ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL -- OR HAS THAT BEEN DROPPED FROM OUR CONTITUTION?
It's not about liberal/conservative. It's about government removing-obliterating your freedom of speech and access to information regarding government. Pay attention please. There are many places on earth that did NOT pay attention and they are gone literally and figuratively. They are history. Aren't you scared? For your children if not for you and your family?
There will NO NPR, Fox, CNN, NBC, ABC or any other info outlet if you l let this proceed. Now you're scared huh?
Starting to smell like CHICAGO in Washington!
This is America and everyone and every organization should be able to have their say without retribution. God Bless America.
What I like about Fox is that they are not afraid to call all things as they see them and are very, very seldom wrong. When they are wrong they admit it and unlike Obama, don't change what they previously said and fail to bring their misstatements to the table!
The Incubus is in the White House, and we will all lose our freedoms if he succeeds in silencing any of the news networks. We are slowly becoming a Socialist country, that was his agenda from the start.
I'm not a big fan of NPR, but I do admire the integrity and reportage of Juam Williams. He seems unbiased. I am reminded however of Josef Stalin's opinion of votes whe he stated, "Its not who votes, but who counts the votes"
You know, we really don't need all these news agencies...if we can get it down to just one.
Shut all the news channels off and start thinking for yourselves people. Quit letting other people tell you how to think. All the media does is stir the pot to keep us all separted. Wake up America!
MV
Tim Russert used to ask the hard questions. Sadly he is gone, so I am glad for the one remaining news network willing to ask those hard questions. You have to wonder why the WH is so fearful (or incapable) of defending their policies.
Whatever gives NPR the impression THEY themselves are a news organization. I've never heard more liberal-biased "news" than at NPR. It;s pure propaganda.
Intolerant and racist. Like most liberalism/leftist philosophy.
The end justifies the means, etc.
PEOPLE!! Wake UP!
Banana Republic have any meaning for you??? Any organization...even the top in our country --the Presidential Office...that tries to dictate what can be said, when it can be said, where it can be said etc. etc. IS NOT trying to lead a democracy!!! ...WE had a fiasco election with the involvement of ACORN...between the criminal efforts of Acorn and the uninformed of this country we have a potential Despot..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wake up. educate yourself as to what is REALLY going on in this country... you will not get THE REAL STORY ON OTHER news programs...at least FOX makes an effort to air both sides. THERE IS A REASON FOX NEWS IS NUMBER ONE IN THE RATINGS!! FAIR AND BALANCED..
Wake up america and watch Fox news. The mainstream media is part of the problem in this country. This country is starting to go down the crapper.
El Presidente ! You should be ashamed of yourself. You behave like a little girl. Be a man and dictate from the podium . So what if 60% of the country wants your head on a pole. They can do nothing until the next election. Now, get back to work!! and, don't forget to call Opera.
To hell with the other news media, other than FOX, if they "do not back FOX". The current White House Administration is not to be trusted. Their actions wreak of SOCIALISM of which I want no part.
I vote for FOX. If they succeed in silencing FOX, who is next???? CNN, ABC or perhaps could it be you or me? Better think about it!!!!
Brian - great point... nothing like seeing that "hard news" like the coverage of micheal jackson's death by CNN, MSNBC, ABC, and every other mass media outlet..as the senate was passing the cap and trade bill...
Does anyone know where I can go and get the news without any bias one way or the other, now that's a novel idea? Yea thats what I thought
The issue here is not if FOX NEWS is fair and balance but FREE SPEECH UNDER OUR CONSTITUTUTION. if FOX NEWS is not fair and balance then MSNBC is not either. So do we pick and choose what part of the constitution we what if we do that we are DOOMED.
p.s. Don't unravel what our fore fathers fought and die for.
Does anybody that thinks Fox news is biased think the other news reporting networks aren't ... really.
Fox is no further right, then the rest are to the left. Thanks to our fathers we have a choice of who to listen too!
Stop guessing and hiding the truth...tell us what what is true and don't lie to us the AMERICANS. We have the right to know what is going on in the world with no LIES.
Obama is a crybaby, not a leader. Sniff sniff wittle boy.
"The truth? YOU CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH" Mr Obama. Thats why you dont want Fox around.
