Belinda Sue - Maybe if you read my post again you would get your comments to be more accurate. I did not get the email that called for slanting the poll, my source did. Wonder what else is read and not understood too well.

  • rush is right - 16 years ago

after reading alot of these post all i can say is you liberals need to wake up if i wanted to live in a communist country i wouldnt have served in the armed force. and the more people let this administration cover up there flaws and keep the public in the dark the worse things will get. atleast there is one news orginization that will tell the truth not cover for obama. and nbc ,cbs, abc and especially cnn are the true doom and gloom network WAKE UP PEOPLE GET OFF UR WELFARE AND STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS AS AN AMERICAN

  • Christine - 16 years ago

It's disturbing how the White House is trying to control which news we get. This administration has no respect for the First Amendment freedom of speech, and is all too willing to shut out dissent.

  • Al - 16 years ago

I am an NPR listener, and occasionally find the discussions biased towards liberal thinking and giving the Obama administration a "free pass" with regard to challenging their comments and opinion. That said, I have found the common media to have lost their journalistic footing and simply parrot the White House policy. That is not good. I watch Fox News because they challenge the Obama administration as well as the Pelosi led congress...believe it or not folks, our fearless leader is not always right!
The Poll results do not surprise me. Wake up Obama, fearing having your positions challenged by Fox News is making you look like you are not confident or that you are hiding the truth!

  • hoosierdaddy - 16 years ago

Nice how you can cast as many votes on this as you want. This poll is hokum.

  • David B. Rees - 16 years ago

Gosh, I didn't hear anything on FOX about this poll - I just got an email from 3 different friends. Just like the 9/12 March on the Capitol I attended with my wife - nobody asked us - one night I just turned to her and said "we're going" and she was thrilled. One thousand miles later - we arrived not having any idea how many people would be there - and that made it a very special time in American Historyl!!!

  • Gary - 16 years ago

You can't help but feel pity for the bleeding heart liberals like Crocoduck, one of the early posters, when his best defense is to point out grammar and spelling errors like that is important in this survey. I was taught sometime early in my grammar school days that a sentence ends in a period, not a comma. This attitude seems to be the norm for the elite libs. Just look at the people that Obama is surrounding himself with and you can see our future if he is allowed to continue on this path. Fox may be the only voice of sanity we have left.

  • Belinda Sue - 16 years ago

Lou Thompson... You say the poll has been compromised because of an email. Yet you also received the email to this proves the poll is accurate. The email apparently went out to everyone regardless of leaning. There were several other comments such as yours as well. Never heard about the poll until they received the email. All are saying that the poll is slanted because of the email THEY received. Does this mean the numbers against Fox News should be much lower than they actually are? Just like in 2000 and 2004 the liberals are very sore losers. The poll if you must know really does reflect the view and attitude of the people. You don't have to agree with Fox, CNN, MNBC or any of the others to fight for their rights. When you stop defending the rights of others it isn't long until they will not defend your rights.

  • Dr Philip Thompson - 16 years ago

Fox is not a puppet of the Obama Administration. They report the facts and faults. ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBS and CNN have been bought and payed off by the Obama Administration. Count the dollars they spend with these broadcasting companies during the election. Without these funds, they would have gone under! Liberalism is truly a mental disorder.

  • Wilson Parker - 16 years ago

Some of the post that I have read say's what Hitler did when he first in power.
Some wonder what Obama is up to. Now do you want to know what I think?
What I think of what Obama is up to is ( Anti-Christ.) Does anyone else think that way?

  • Robert - 16 years ago

When a "news" network's own "daily memo" to staff (from Roger Ailes) tells the editorial staff how to cover a story -- what to focus on and what to leave out -- then it ceases to function as a journalistic enterprise.

Who is the president of this Fox "News" Network? A former journalist? A former network news producer? How about a Republican political consultant!
The truth doesn't have a chance any more.

This is not about "freedom of speech". It's about the power of one corporation to distort the truth, resulting in a) huge ratings and b) a misinformed electorate.

Obama is right not to play ball with the enemy. I think he should go further and prohibit any administration official (from any agency, at any time) from speaking to or appearing on this network.

At the same time, he should use the Nixonian tactics Fox accuses him off and sic the FBI/IRS on the lot of them, beginning with that fascist Rupert Murdoch.

  • Marion - 16 years ago

I watch all of the news channels so that I am aware of ALL view points. I do not find FOX to be biased. I do find that they ask interesting astute challenging questions and are open to all view points. I am currently reading Katherine Graham's autobiography. It seems that there have been several attempts in the past to favor one news medium in the past by both Democrats and Republicans. Fortunately, there is always one disenter from the media group who typically stands out for their honest reporting of all issues. The Post and Newsweek made it during Watergate - I believe that FOX will be the outspoken news media for the Obama administration. Further, having read three biographies on Kennedys and one 1200 page biograhpy on Mao - it is my sincere feeling - long before Glen Beck ever brought it up - that Chairman Mao and President Obama have much more in common than Jack Kennedy and President Obama.

  • YOU ESSAY - 16 years ago

It is truly a sad time for our nation. America is being dumbed down inexorably. Discourse has devolved to diatribe. I find it particularly ironic that those who identify FOX as a great news station tend to rely upon name-calling to describe those who dissent.

  • Steve - 16 years ago

Looks like the White House is losing big time on this one!! Bet you won't see the results of this poll on ABC, CBS, NBC or CNN.

  • SR - 16 years ago

I was sent this email earlier... maybe explains why the numbers are so high:

Fox News is losing in an NPR Poll, but with the power of the Internet we can turn that around in a few hours.

If you haven't heard this, the White House is accusing Fox News of not being a legitimate source of news, calling them biased, etc. They have tried to block Fox reporters from news conferences, etc., NPR has put a survey online for us to voice our opinion. Currently it is 71% in favor of the White House, because mainly liberals log on to the NPR website.

If Fox loses this poll you can bet Obama will mention it as support for his attack on Fox.

Let's show them how we feel about honest conservative news reporting.

    To vote log onto:

This is about freedom of speech and the government trying to control our freedoms through their I like you, I don't like you approach.

The federal government is there to protect our freedoms, not to becme a dictator, either by their influence or by their cohersion.

  • George Kocan - 16 years ago

CBS, NBC, ABC, NPR, all function as mouthpieces for the Democrat Party. But, the courts never went after them for violating the Fairness Doctrine, when it was law. Of course, the leader of the Democrat Party complains about any organization which refuses to mouth the party-line.

  • Duane - 16 years ago

No one is saying you need to listen to FOX News or to agree with them on anything. But the fact that there exists a legal venue for those who oppose the current Administration to have their positions heard is what makes America great. Don't try to silence them just because you don't agree with their viewpoint or because they ask questions that you find difficult to answer. Let's agree to play fair by not changing the rules just because your side finds itself in the unique situation of having obtained control of the game. When the pendulum swings the other way, which it inevitably does, your side will be treated only as fairly as you chose to treat your opponent. So pick your battles carefully. Poor decisions may come back to haunt you. You may find that sacrificing our Freedom of Speech in order to silence your opposition will be a hefty price to pay when it later works to your disadvantage.

The real issue here, and it's a scary one, is how President Obama is using his office, to in effect, censor the Fox News agency. This should alarm anyone, liberal, moderate or conservative. There is no place in our country for this to go on. Don't forget, this President also asked you to turn in your neighbor, if they were descending against the health-care bill and to submit any e-mails that opposed the President on this issue. President Obama couched this by saying that he wanted to dispel the un-truths that were out there.real hard ball question of this administration. There are a few true reporters left and Fox News is putting them on their staff. These copied remarks say it all.

  • Adam - 16 years ago

Karl Rove - Fox News contributor. I think that about covers Fox News' intentions.

I find it somewhat amusing that Fox can sling all sorts of lies and misinformation, and then gets upset when the WH calls them out on it. It's also funny that Cal Thomas, of Fox, is outraged. Yet a year ago, when Bush counselor Ed Guillespie issued a letter from the WH, basically stating the same thing Anita did, except aimed at MSNBC, he defends the WH and says they should've done it sooner.

This Democratic imbalance too shall pass. I just hope the country survives the cure.... much like chemotherapy. Next year the change will once again begin and it'll be another couple decades before Democrats can try to dismantle the Constitution. Have faith America..... we have to have the Carters and Obamas to appreciate REAL leaders.

  • Solana2012 - 16 years ago

    For Lou Thompson:

I received an email from a conservative friend about this poll.
I'd never heard of this site.
I'm not "seasoned". If I (and the others like me) weren't informed of this, and didn't take the time to vote on this poll, it would be full of liberal votes and comments and "biased".
That's what makes this country great; both sides get to speak their minds.
And look at the majority of the mindset....you are the minority.
You, and others like you accuse Fox and people like me of telling "half truths" yet you can give no examples of these "half truths". You spout, with no factual basis, accusations you've heard and expect US to believe YOUR "half truths". Read the comments above. Read about Obama's screw-ups. Read why we, the people, are outraged. They are truths. Backed up by facts. Keep spouting all the way to losing your welfare checks.
    Long live democracy.

  • thehuntinggod - 16 years ago

Dan Rather was fair and balanced? Where was the outrage when he was creating news? Fox news is asking the questions and Obama and his henchmen are afraid the American public will actually figure out what they stand for. It is so much easier to go to a "News organization like CNN" that is more interested and willing to ask the question of what dress Michelle is going to wear and how was your workout, and fact checking Saturday night live, than asking a real hard ball question of this administration. There are a few true reporters left and Fox News is putting them on their staff.

Anyone who ever tries to shut out news media is bound to lose. I spent many years as a newspaper reporter and editor and some as a magazine editor followed by 35 years as a public relations manager in tech industries. Any time a company or politician tried to deny contact with press or media people the deniers lost the battle.

News media in a democracy need to be free to express unpopular or contrary opinions or the meaning of the First Amendment is lost.

Victoria says,"Have they ever said a good thing about Obama? Anything? Not even when he won the Nobel Peace Prize?"

Victoria: Its rather hard to believe that you would cite that example. What precisely did Obama do that merited his winning that prize. Even he himself acknowledged he had done nothing to deserve it but HOPED to in the future! We know what he hasn't done but since when is a Nobel Prize given out for what MIGHT be achieved in the future?

It was a sordid attempt by the Norwegian Leftists on the committee to help his credibility and perhaps to influence his decision on sending troops to Afghanistan.

To any thinking person it is an embarrassment that the some really worthy candidates were over-looked for a President who has yet to demonstrate any real achievements oher than to get himself elected with a bunch of false promises that he is incapable of carrying out. It reeks of junior league soccer where all the losers get a trophy for just showing up.

Victoria, If you honestly do not see the farce of such a selection then you obviously measure achievment by a much different standard than I do.
I can understand why Obama's mantra of "Hope" would mean much more to you than to me.

  • Kevin - 16 years ago

There is no such thing as an unobjective news organization - Fox included - given the unobjective nature of humankind. That said - for the White House to call Fox down for being biased and refusing to commit to the same when asked about MSNBC (CNN interivew with Valerie Jarett) shows the true colors of a White House that has a skin as thin as tissue paper. Those making comments about those that like FOX news being less then intelligent only wallow in their own intellectual insecurity - or urban eliteness. Take a look around - it is rural areas that are surviving the multiple crises that our country is enduring - and will continue to do so. And - would also hope out those that even look down upon them should they find themselves stranded on the side of a rural road.

  • Susan - 16 years ago

The Obama administration is proving to be just a bunch of thugs in fancy three piece suits. They try to shut down anyone who does not promote their ideas. That is my opinion and I am sticking to it, because it is my first amendment right to say what I think. P.S. don't blame me for this problem, I voted for the old guy!

  • Lou Thompson - 16 years ago

This poll has been compromised. I was informed of the poll by getting a "let's go to the poll and set the record right email" form a source that gets all of the Fox News and other far right scare them with the lies emails. No doubt many of the folks that jumped into this poll and offer comments are seasoned at doing what they do, use half truths to caste doubt and slant any attempt to have a reasoned dialogue. No sense in engaging, the folks that are here because of the email I got and others like it can't be reasoned with.

  • Red Bob - 16 years ago

The Obama administration is just plain wrong on this one. Almost anyone who reads, listens or watches the news and values the "Four Freedoms" understands that trying to stifle contrary opinions takes away from our constituional rights, no matter who is in the Whitehouse. That's a dangerous road to travel, because the "other guys" could do the same thing when they got in power, thereby contracfting our freedom of speech from both ends toward the middle, until nothing is left. Is that where President Obama and the Democrats want to go?

  • Mike - 16 years ago

Lets all admit it... The white House is trying to make FOX out to be "The bad Guy" We all know fox says it like it is... The White House is pulling more @&@% on working class Americans and FOX helps us stay ahead of the crap. Thanks FOX !

  • Jerry Wojtecki - 16 years ago

Fox not only reports the news BUT tries to educate the viewer. As they say, WE REPORT - YOU DECIDE. Some people CANNOT accept the truth because it hurts. This administration is the SOME PEOPLE. When personal documents are sealed you obviously have something to hide. ALL this "he said - she said" can be dropped IF this current president shows his cards.

  • Victoria - 16 years ago

These web polls are worthless and NPR should know better than to sponsor one - they are so easily manipulated by whichever side has organized better.

That said, I believe FOX news is not news at all. Have they ever said a good thing about Obama? Anything? Not even when he won the Nobel Peace Prize?

  • Thomas - 16 years ago

The old paradigm has been shattered. The three networks and major newspapers have controled public opinion for decades. Not anymore. Wasn't it Dan Rather who tried to sink Bush with falsified war records? Which is worse, opinion or outright fraud?

  • jellkdog - 16 years ago

Fox is my winning bet with people like Charles Krauhammer, Bill Kristal, Juan Williams, Jim Cavuto and the rest of team. They all work hard at getting to the bottom of things in a fair and balanced manner while the White House is overstepping themselves. Change is good in some ways but being deceitful is something else. Saying bye bye to them cannot come too soon.

  • Randall Brett - 16 years ago

It is beyond belief that Obama would try and sensor the press. Any of the press, including FOX. Obama and his administration should be ashamed of themselves. They are not for the public. What are they trying to hide? If I remember correct the last time this happened in the White House there was a cover up by Nixon going on and he tried to sensor the press. Did we not learn anything by that President. Obama is up to no good and he wants to keep the press from finding out? If he keeps FOX out now, who will be next, NPR, NBC, ABC, CBS, N.Y. TIMES, Wall Street Journal or anybody else. There is no reason why a news organization should be kept from covering news worthy events, no matter what their political persuasion. Something must be done about our rights being stripped away one by one with out all of us Americans raising a lot of H--- about it. We must get mad about this sensorship and let our Senator, Congessperson and the media know this is wrong and not let it happen. If Obama keeps this up I think we should ask for his resignation, if he will not resign then start impeachment proceedings, based on not upholding the constitution.

  • An American - 16 years ago

There are some people commenting above that this poll is not a true representation because some people are voting several times. To prove the point I tried to vote again and a little window popped up telling me my vote had already been counted.

Those comments smack of sour grapes to me.

  • Mary Mihalakos - 16 years ago

Fox News has been reporting opinion rather than news and yes I will vote on that. I like to hear the pure true news and make up my OWN mind. If I want someones opinion, I will watch that type of show!

  • Jean Smith - 16 years ago

This president needs to become an American and stop slandering the USA to foreign countries. Maybe he and others (non-Americans) should find another continent to live on and let America be America as we were established with the constitution. We are America! If you come here to live because we are a better place then don't keep trying to bring your old ways here and changing our country to the one you left.

  • Traveling Man - 16 years ago

I can't believe the Government nor Fox. Fox has been a Bush/Republican network ever since I can remember and it is highly slanted.

A media analyst?, No, I am a proud news junkie! I teach print media in the Mass Com department of an HBCU, in Mississippi. I am 60, white, Christian and conservative. My classes are 95% Black and most of my students love me as I love them. My daughter is married to a Black man and their son is the apple of my eye. When I critisize the Obama Administration some of my students used to call me a raciest or bigot until I started showing them photos of my daughter, son-in-law and grandson. Most of my students have been so propagandized they parrot phases and ideas they seldom even understand. "Michael Vick was selectively prosecuted "Just to take the successful Black man down" and "President Obama has been more harshly treated by all the media than any other President ever just because he is Black" One student even told a Broadcast instructor very seriously, "President Obama is the Messiah!" The difference between Conservative talk radio and Fox News compared to NPR and all of the other news organizations is that Fox and News-Talk cover the stories and ask the questions none of the rest of them will! I don't claim to be a media analyst, only an incidental learner. I listen to NPR, watch Fox, CNN, PBS and some CBS. This is the truth as I see it; Fox asks the questions the Obama "Lapdogs Media" won't ask and Obama and his supporters want to shut them up irrespective of the first amendment. They only want free speech for those who agree with them and their socialists policies. President Obama, this is the kitchen, it's often very hot in there, if you can't take the heat maybe you're not up for this job?

  • Gerry - 16 years ago

We are entering one of the most dangerous times in the modern history of this country due to electing an inexperienced Jr. Senator who is frankly, a flaming socialist and someone who is beginning to show Americans that he and most of his so called "czars" (some who are tax cheats, and in favor of anti-American ideologies) are taking this country in the wrong direction.

  • spm - 16 years ago

People who suggest only Fox and NPR question Obama don't listen to other newscasts. Sorry folks, FOX *sponsored* the 9-12 protests -- do you know of any other network that actively sponsors protests against any President. Report on them, yes, but actually sponsor them? Come on!

  • Jim - 16 years ago

I would think the President and his staff have far greater things be to focused on than to even care about what any news source has to say. Mr. President, please be more Presidential and quit campaigning. You have the job and the office you hold is above all this even if your not.

  • n. johanson - 16 years ago

But thanks for making the point. I assume that liberals who do prefer an civil debate are embarrassed by your meaningless blather!

Anyone who thinks Fox is Fair or Balanced is an idiot. It's ok though, lots of people are idiots and you'll have lots of idiot friends to agree with. I've seen plenty of all the news stations, and anyone who trusts what they hear on Fox has some serious issues.

Here's what happens w/ fox news stories:
    1. Fox makes up some shit.
    2. Other stations debunk what Fox made up.
    3. Fox says 'OMG nobody's covering the shit I made up, they must not be 'Fair & Balanced'.
    4. Repeat.

  • Bill Fisher - 16 years ago

In what parallel universe is it OK for the government to suggest to news organizations they should ignore one that the administration simply doesn't like? This should frighten people. It's time the other so-called "news" organizations began reporting the truth. What happened to investigative journalism? Is it only Fox News that can seem to remember what it is? Seems we're gatting White Washed by the mainstream media. WAKE UP AMERICA!

  • Scy - 16 years ago

Ever wonder why the liberal Demo's like Reid, Pelosi, Frank, & their ilk don't
want to be interviewed or near a Fox news commentator? Is Fox biased?
Yes, if giving we citizens a look @ what's happening around us.
Ever listen to Bill Marr, no bias there right???

  • W - 16 years ago

I consider myself liberal in the classical sense, hence strongly believe in the US Constitution, Bill of Rights, and the rights of man. I strongly believe in the freedom of the press, even when I don't agree with their coverage and frequent bias (on either side). Having the WH try to exclude conservative voices is just plain wrong. Did Bush try to exclude CNN or the NY Times? Bush scared me and now this administration scares me even more. I say "VOTE ALL THE BUMS OUT AND LETS START FRESH!"

  • Shelley - 16 years ago

I am a Fox News viewer as they usually have both a Republican and Democrat, sometimes Independents voicing their opinions on questions they ask. I have watched the other news shows so I could make an objective opinion but choose Fox because it is more "fair and balanced" by having both sides represented. Their coverage of this healthcare fiasco has been most informative.
They have one of their reporters that has read the whole bill, unlike those we voted in office, both Democrats and Republicans and report very interesting aspects of the Bill.

  • Pdlane - 16 years ago

This clip speaks for itself......."Using emails, community sites, political blogs and Tweets, conservatives have mounted a strike to "win" an online NPR poll on the war between the White House and Fox News."

  • Think Pink - 16 years ago

Wonder what the Fox News All Stars will have to say about this poll. They are as "fair and balanced" as it gets (just ask NPR's Juan Williams or Maura Laisson), their exchanges are thoughtful and though-provoking (especially when Charles Krauthammer speaks), and I've yet to witness any of the panelists (even Bill Kristol!) spitting as they talk.

  • GAR - 16 years ago

Seems as if the survey now shows and overwhelming support of Fox and their right to report the news. Do any of you remember when the news was reported? Seems as if the major news networks have "reporters" that want to make the news. Fox and their reporters and commentators are the ONLY ones giving a fair and balanced view of the news and current events. I will be surprised if any network picks up this survey. I will also be surprised if NPR publishes the results. Hope I am surprised.

Crocoduck, is that why you had a typo in your very own post? :)

The constitution guarantees freedom of speech and freedom of the press. Obama also has freedom of speech, so I suppose he can run around and say Fox News is not a real news station all he wants. The problem with that, though, is that it looks extremely unprofessional. I'm embarrassed for him. Ever heard of taking the high road? I do watch Fox News. I also use other news sources. Personally, I think they nail Republicans and Democrats alike. If he truly feels like they are 'out to get him' or whatever, I think the best thing would be to IGNORE it. It doesn't make you look any better picking a fight with a news station when you are THE PRESIDENT. Like some have said, he should be dealing with more important things.

  • Bill - 16 years ago

I am not a liberal or progressive or whatever they want to call themselves but I listen to NPR every morning when going to work. Why? Because it's important to get both sides of the story. I have never in my 58 years have ever been so disgusted with journalists and the so called "mainstream" media as I have over the past 5 years. I'm amazed that other than FOX, no other news organization asks Obama any serious questions, or investigates his socialist and maxist Czars. The 1st amendment was written to ensure that the public learned the truth. Only Fox has had the guts to ask the questions, dig deep, and trumpet the truth. All the other "News" outlets merely regurgitate Obama's mis-truths.. like socialized healthcare will not add a single penny to the massive deficit this administration has created. Anyone who actually believes that is an idiot.

I get entertainment from NPR, lies and distortion from the white house, and news from Fox, the other networks don't even seem to honor the existence of real people (traditionalists) whom thirst for real news and honest reporting.
But we conservatives make-up a huge sector and we earn, and pay taxes on most of the wealth of the USA. Snobs in the "media" downplay the earnest disaffection and disgust the real people have for tax-and-spend morons who want hope (and such) to steer the way and by their misguided actions in governing, "HOPE" to dilute the strength of the masses as they refer to us.

Censorship is not part of what made America great. Obama's Narcissistic personality won't let him accept criticism of him, his plan's or ideas. This makes him especially dangerous as he won't listen to others, take the ideas of others, and feels he and his ideas are superior to all others. He will take us down a path of his choosing with little or no regard to what the people say. He is a true liberal marxist, he knows better than we do what we want and need.

Perhaps it's time for PBS to do an in-depth examination of candidate Obama's promises vs. President Obama's actions. Of course, it may take a bit more than the usual hour to thoroughly explore the subject. Now that would be TV in the "public" interest!

Fox news is "fair and balanced". Their commentaters ie Hannity, O'Reilly, and Beck are not, and don't pretend to be. Compare Fox to the disgustingly hateful MSNBC. Olbermann and his ilk are classless and clueless.

  • SAW - 16 years ago

Thank you NPR for this survey. The White House has forgotten all the 'slick' speeches that Mr. Obama made prior to being elected. His lack of leadership and well beyond normal partician politics is staggering. Not at all what he promised to be like as our President. Transparency? Fox News has gained tenfold respect in many people's eyes due to his ridiculous lobby against them but even moreso because they are the ONLY news (yes News!) source that reports on questionable activities of the Congress and this White House. NBC and CBS and MSNBC, ESPECIALLY, repeat the talking points of this out-of-touch Congress and White House. Again - Thank you NPR, for his survey.

Silencing critics is never healthy in an open society. But then again we are finding out this current Govt isn't so open. Sad. Not the change we had in mind eh?

  • Rou - 16 years ago

How could anybody not like this White House or FOX news they are the only ones putting the fun back in dysfunctional......... ;-)

  • ml - 16 years ago

Why are opposite viewpoints so theratening to this WH?

It's well know that there is no defense against the truth and that
if one operates in lies there is a lot to hide and eventually the truth catches up.

It's amazing the arrogance that reeks from those who believe they are all-powerful. They are only all-powerful over a citizenry that doesn't think or
reason for itself. Bye-Bye welfare state.

Many liberals have a unique approach to Freedom of Speech: If they agree it is okay, but if they do not agree, then censorship is just dandy.

  • Polly Forestier - 16 years ago

This White House and administration is a disaster. Term limits are LONG overdue and cronyism is running wild! Fox is the only network to take on the heavy questions and ask for answers. The WH continues to ignore the questions...that says a lot. Obama is still campaigning and is apparently too busy to decide about Afganistan. He has plenty of trained people in the military to make decisions but he has to say the final word (I think to feel more important). I'd sooner trust the opinions of the military than a non-military no experience first term President. Inexperience is certainly apparent, as was suggested in the campaign. Clinton has turned into a wimp after being so strong during the campaign. Obama has gotten to all opposing his retoric. I am very fearful for our country because it is being changed as we speak. The ratical czars hired to "advise" the president are doing their job and he is apparently listening to their communist promptings. We, the people, are fodder for this WH and it's frightening to see what's happening.... pray FOX stays on the air because that's our only fair and balanced station.
MSNBC is vicious..CNN ..CBS...all far left and nothing "fair and balanced" about them! I look forward to voting and I hope we wipe the slate clean and get everyone in the Congress OUT...what a disappointment.

  • David - 16 years ago

Ok. This is a little weird. Why don't we ask MSNBC the same question? Of course the poll is going to be inaccurate. Mainly because of the demographics. This whole thing is one giant embarrassment for our country. It's like BO is getting picked on in the playground...then goes and cries to the teachers. This is why liberalism is a mental disorder. "I can lash out at you...but when you do it, we need to make some legislation to stop that." This country was founded based on the fact we want the right to disagree and have it mean something. And YES to everyone out there, when FOX news reports that BO lied about something and delivers the facts and proves what he lied about...that is news. Watching his thunder-thigh wife hula hoop is not news. This administration is killing the democratic party in leaps and bounds...and that's a good thing. Too bad they are taking the country down with them.

Patricia Phillips says "Most of Fox news commentators are entertainers and exist for the excitement and angst they stir up. I usually turn most of them off because they are rude and incendiary. I prefer commentary that is calm and factual, not emotional and spiteful. I have heard some actually spit while speaking, that is not a pretty sound. I support the White House in being cautious who attends their press conferences. I doubt that all of Fox reporters are singled out, I am sure that the true newsmen are welcomed and this does not apply to them. Come on, some of these guys are just hateful and spew rediculous non substaniated information for listener participation...."

First she says she turns them off, then she says she's "heard they spit" implying she hasn't actually watched them.....
What I found truly interesting about her comment is how professionally written it is. Re-read it; it's articulate and the spelling is perfect; it almost looks rehearsed.....until you get to the very last line.

    "rediculous" and "non substaniated".....

Is this possibly some form-letter-response generated by WH watchdogs where the actual person tucked on a little sentence of her own?
    I have to wonder...

  • Larry Morawietz - 16 years ago

I like FOX NEWS as they tell it like it is. I know that allot of others, like NBC, CBS, and CNN do not publish allot of the news because they do not want to hurt the White House of the People in it or the ones associated with it. Thanks for FOX NEWS, at least we can get to the TRUTH.

  • Whanda Swihart - 16 years ago

The news media should come out full force in support of FOX News. Today Fox tomorrow any other news media that dares to disagree with the government.

  • Think Pink - 16 years ago

While not exactly a scientifically representative sample, with almost 566,000 responding to this poll, only 30% of voters are with the White House on this one while 69% of voters support Fox News. The ayes have it! Ha! Read it and weep, you Red Diaper Doper Babies!

This coming Tuesday, 3 Nov, election day, stand-by for another indication of the anti-Obama sentiment extant in the American populace at large ... or at least in Virginia, New Jersey and upstate New York.

Next Friday, 6 Nov, starts the countdown: only three more years until we vote Obama out! If I were a Leftist, I'd be ... LEAVING! WHAT A GOOD IDEA!

I find Fox News to be a Fountain of Truth that cannot be found on CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS.

This Socialist?Marxist President and his Crooked Chicago Crowd are doing all in their power to destroy The Constitution and our Rights as Citizens.

They are after Fox, nest it will be The Internet, and yes, they are already after another Fountain of Truth, Talk Radio.

  • Dave Fleming - 16 years ago

A heavy handed Obama can lead to a less than acceptable government....socialistic and we are heading there fast. Believe what you like, but we are heading to harder times and we have opened the door and leaving it open for Obama to be and dictator type. Carry a big stick and knock down anyone that speaks out. What has happened to our America? Obama and the WH staff will I believe live the past because they have not learned "her" lessons. God help our nation and our leaders.

  • N. Johanson - 16 years ago

Patricia says: "Come on, some of these guys are just hateful and spew rediculous non substaniated information for listener participation...."

This is the kind of general "ridiculous, unsubstantiated" criticism I hear from many Fox critics but no one provides specifics to support their criticisms. It adds nothing to the discussion.

While I supported Obama during the campaign, I am very disappointed in what he promised and what he has actually done thus far. Additionally, he now has me, my children and my grandchildren in debt that may cause unrecoverable damage to this Nation. I certainly find that FOX asks the appropriate questions and seldon get anything but poo pooed upon by the Administration. FOX does at least report both sides of the story and gives my President credit when due.

  • Beverly from MS - 16 years ago

Thank God for Fox News. They are the only ones giving true facts regarding the background on the czars, and other white house personnel. They also have the best research teams for truth and factual information. Additionally, they have a balanced debate with conservatives, as well as, liberal views being shown. As they say, they report, you decide. At least they are reporting stories.
I think it is disgraceful that some news networks such as NBC are so deep in Obama's back pocket. They know nothing about factual reporting.

I suggest that you liber alls who don't or won't listen to FOX read your Bible starting with Gen.47:13-27. It was the sermon a black minister preached to his flock about the politics of the "Anointed One". At the end he prayed this...
" We cry out to You because of the ruler that we have chosen for ourselves as a nation. Lord, we pray for this nation.
...and protect Your people from the atrocities of Pharaoh's government. In God We Trust..." FOX gives both sides to most of the questions.

  • Cathy - 16 years ago

For the most part, Fox News is the only network that is standing up for conservatives and Christian points of view. They ask tough questions that the liberal media ignores.

  • N. Johanson - 16 years ago

While I do support Fox News in this unsavory attack by the Whitehouse, I think these polls are silly since they are based primarily on the narrow demographic of the particular site and can be easily altered. Only national polls implemented by a reliable independent polling agency (Rasmussen to name one) informs us of the general mood of the nation.

This is just a "feel good" exercise for one side or the other.

  • N. Johanson - 16 years ago

The foundation of this country contains a keystone - freedom of speech and freedom of the press. It is the JOB of the press to challenge and criticize the government as they did LIBERALLY with the former adminitration. The founders did not trust the government to use their power prudently for the good of the people and that is why the founders wanted an unencumbered press to publish and inform the people when government tended towards abuse of power.

However with the Obama administration there seems not only to be a reluctance to challenge by the mainstream press but too often a perception of Obama booster-ism.

Much of what this administration, as well as the former, is trying to do is NOT a power granted to the federal government by the Constitution yet few in the press, with the exception of Fox and talk radio, are challenging their actions! Much of the public sits by passively without challenging these extra-Constitutional activities because so few truly understand their own Constitution. That leaves open the question as to whether we are any longer a Constitutional Republic with power vested in the people because power is lost if not exercised.

Love them or hate tham Fox is the only one with the journalistic guts to challenge this government's over-reaching initiatives that will effect everyone in this country with, I fear, negative consequences. The Obama adminsitration's targeted attacks on Fox News might be seen as a nuanced version of Hugo Chavez's crackdown on any press that criticizes him adapted to the sensibilities of the American public. If you shut down one critic you send a powerful message to other to stay in line - even if they are in line at the moment.

I believe this crude Chicago-style tactic by the Whitehouse has backfired because even many press liberals who would normally defend the Whitehouse are criticizing this heavy-handed over-the-top Nixonian tactic.

The other side effect is that many Americans who were mesmerized by the smooth rhetoric of Obama's promise of openness and transparency are beginning to open their eyes to the contrast between Obama's Actions and his Words.

As if the Fox attack is not enough, the Whitehouse is now putting out feelers about providing financial support to the ailing press - imagine that! That's just another way of saying the Whitehouse will use taxpayer dollars to coop the press completely so they can become a 100% propaganda machine for the administration. What a swe-e-e-et arrangement. If and when that occurs Obama can replace those on the editorial board who do not show"correct thinking" ala GM management and we will have Chavez-lite.

If a newspaper cannot draw adequate support to stay in business let them fail there are many other channels from which to draw news - much of which has not been "filtered" through the political bias of that particular newspaper's editorial board.

Until the rest of the press becomes accountable for the job they were and are Constitutionally protected to do, I say GO FOX NEWS!

  • F Meyer - 16 years ago

This is absurd, I do not understand what the White House is doing. This even makes less sense then the Fairness Doctrine. Why aren't they going after MSNBC or CNBC or CNN who seem to bend the other way and are certainly less fair and balanced then FOX News. This administration and this Congress have become a joke. I guess we can blame all of this on "W".

  • Chmee - 16 years ago

GK Limber, you aren't interpreting this correctly. If that email had never been sent, then those of us who believe in allowing freedom of speech would never have heard about this poll since there are very few listeners to NPR (or visitors to this site for that matter) are in the camp of restricting the First Amendment, whether they be Liberal, Conservative or Libertarian (as I am).

So that supposed majority that it looked like a few days ago in favor of saying it was OK for the WH to censor dissenting points of view is not an accurate picture of the rest of the country, only of your world view. In many ways I feel sorry for you, as if it were actually allowed to happen, as by taking the side of the censors you are ceding the civil rights that people in this country have fought and dies for over to those that have no regard for any opinion but their own. How long will it be before your opinions will be next on the censored list?

  • Angela Cox - 16 years ago

The reason they are fighting so hard against Fox News is because Liberals are so used to getting their way on everything. They can't handle the REAL truth, it scares them to think that the American people can actually think for themselves. This president thinks he can control everything and everyone except Fox News. He should be taking care of more important things than Fox News. Maybe instead of going on Letterman and other talk shows like he is some kind of celebrity. He has made a mockery of the presidency. We have been in business for 21 yrs, and our company in the last 6 months has taken a dramatic financial hit.
I don't even want to hear the race card played.....
My husband and I are both Caucasian and have adopted 3 African American kiddos who I would lay down my on life for. By the way, we are as far from being rednecks as any one person can be.

  • Dave D. - 16 years ago

If it wasn't for Fox News we wouldn't have any objective news.

I find Fox News to be very meaningful and just pretty reliable. America needs Fox News to hold our Government and others accountable for their actions and what they say. It is very evident that other news agencies are NOT and are just along for the ride.

Keep up the GOOD work Fox News.

  • Wes Seward - 16 years ago

Thank god for the patriots over at Fox News. They are willing to ask the questions the others won't, in a time when the fundamental principles of our great Constitutional Republic are being defiled everyday by this Administration. A Government agency or office should never attack any organization of the press. The President clearly is very arrogant and doesn't like people who don't just believe everything he says and follow and love him to death. It is our duty as Americans to question him. He seems to not understand he is not our King, and he is treading on the wrong peoples country. We were founded by a group of Rebels and Radicals that were not afraid to stand against any form of tyranny no matter how powerful, in the name of what then was a radical and new idea:Equal Liberty and Freedom of Choice for all and Extremely Small Government.

  • C. R. Wood - 16 years ago

I am 84 years young - retired military (28 years), been through 2 wars as a commissioned officer, etc.
Thank God for Fox News - the only place we can get any kind of real objectivity in local and world news today !!!!

  • Ray Hanna - 16 years ago

I am a conservative but I do listen to NPR because I want opinions from both sides. It is a shame our administration doesn't respect the opinions of others. The majority voted for change and that is certainly what they got. The first president that does not respect the position and opinions of a major network and it millions of followers.
