I am completely pro-choice, but I feel if you're going to abort, please PLEASE do it as soon as possible. I'm a medical student. I'm not just talking out of my ass. That fetus is STRUCTURALLY fully formed; it's just growing and developing now. You can probably tell the sex of the baby via ultrasound by now (didn't check to see if you had because I was really saddened by the site). The earliest chances of viability are not that far away...about 24 weeks (23 at the very lowest limit that I've heard of). That means, friends, that the child could possibly SURVIVE outside of your womb then. One month, theoretically, AFTER abortion. However, if you just have to abort, do it as soon as you can. Waiting and allowing the fetus to continue growing is, honestly, pretty cruel.
So, I know you may not read this, but let me encourage you as others have: abort now (as pain receptors in the brain are not really able to process that information until mid-second trimester) or place the baby for adoption. I personally wish you would give birth to the baby; my birth (unplanned pregnancy, natural birth!) was beautiful, life changing, and I love my daughter. Whatever you choose, please do what is best for that baby and make sure you don't raise him or her. The mental damage you would likely inflict would probably be irreversible. Many folks would love to adopt a baby. I encourage a closed adoption.

Obviously you are having second thoughts. Just let me tell you what I tell everyone who is thinking of having a abortion. I made that mistake once and hated myself for years afterwords. When I say hate I mean self destructive. I knew it was wrong but I did it anyway. Worse decision I made my whole life, I never forget to mourn my child. By the way my 11 1/2 week fetus had fingers toes and was sucking its thumb. I was awake for the "procedure" and it hurt like hell, imagine what the slicing and suction did to my tiny baby! My regret was I did not give up the baby for adoption. Believe me I would be breaking down doors to find my child and restore a relationship with him or her today. But I cant. Abortion truly stops a beating heart and children deserve a chance at life

My wife is pretty indecisive, but this just takes it to a whole new level. The ONLY reason I voted at all (I voted to give birth) was in the event that you actually make your decision according to this poll, at least someone with some sense (me) gave his opinion. How can you look at your ultrasound of your child and post it with the caption, "16 week 3D ultrasound of our little alien". Do you not see how it's obviously growing and forming inside of you? It's not walking, talking, or crying yet but it's not dead... If it's not dead, what is it? The baby is forming inside of you. Please take the time to not be selfish and at least give it up for adoption. Give your child a chance in the world. I think a lot of people really didn't understand the reason you posted this. It is a very hard choice to make when it comes to the health and well being of a person that you love and the choice to raise a child that will need constant care for many years. And then there are the staring and rude comments that idiot people make and the child is hurt and sad all the time. People say put it up for adoption. So then the child goes into an uncaring family that don't care what other people say or do and the child is unhappy and wont leave the house. I have 2 kids age 13 and 15 and I see how people raise their kids in todays world. It is a lot tougher than it was when I was young. Parents do not believe in correcting their childrens behavior. Kids do and say as they please and are never told they shouldn't treat a person that way. I could not bring a child into the world knowing what they are going to be put thru. There are many childless couples out there who would love to be parents, my partner and me included. I don't want to pretend to know what you are struggling with. I know life and decisions are very difficult. I know that being pregnant alone is tough without having struggled through miscarriages. I gained 80 lbs in my pregnancy and it was a very tough, tough haul.
Yet as a mother who has adopted a precious little guy from a family that bravely chose to give birth I just wanted to let you know that our little guy means the world to us. He has several developmental issues and struggles that we get to walk through with him and we treasure every minute. I get tears in my eyes every time I attempt to think about life without him. They are really cool people, and I'm thankful to have them in my life. They are better than "icing on the cake" of my life. Wife, if you have this fear of what's going to happen, I tell you that that moment will be magic. I have four children on my own. I married when I was 19, and the fourth kid was born when I was 23. Just 4 years of marriage, and 4 children!! However, on my first child, I had all those fears that you felt, but I decided to have my baby, and I have no regrets. You will recover your own body, and you'll be the best mother of the planet, because of love. You are the perfect wife because you love your husband, right? On this situation, it will be the same. You have to learn to love the little person who is living inside you, and then, when the baby is born, you will be the perfect mother, I guarantee that. My mother died when I was 17, she was 44 years old, so I have no one who teach me to be a mother. I'm sure that you have a mother, and a mother-in-law who will help you to raise your child.
For the husband, love you wife, support her on all these emotional and physical changes, and love you child. She'll be the more beautiful after finish her pregnancy, because that's our nature. But we women are very sensitive, and I'm sure she needs your support and your understanding. Be patient with her, and please, never leave her alone with her fears. Share all your thoughts and feelings, and try to manage it TOGETHER. I know that you are a good husband.

All I ask is that you consider the child. I emphasize, THE CHILD. Quite often when we debate abortion, we speak of pro choice or pro life. The problem is, that while we are busy having our debates or arguments, the person who matters, THE CHILD, doesn't have a say. Give the child a say. The only way that the child can have a say is if he/she is given the opportunity to have life. Remember once the egg has fertilised life has formed and then develops into a baby.

From what I understand, you have already gone through miscarriages and your finally pregnant, and what I'm assuming is a healthy pregnancy and you are unsure if you're ready to have a baby?! I understand that miscarriage is a heart wrenching, emotional rollercoaster but seriously, if you aren't ready, STOP TRYING. They have these wonderful things call birth control.. you should have thought about that before getting, for lack of a better term, knocked up, again. My very first thought about this was how horrible you guys were to put this up for a vote. After a little thought however I will say that you never should have put this up for a vote you will regret it. However new parents make huge mistakes every day. At 17 week your baby will actually feel you kill him. At this stage in pregnancy they dont just vacuum them out like a regular abortion. They actually make you give birth by separating the placenta. Then if the baby will not come out, he/she is then pulled apart in pieces. The baby can still be alive during this process. Sometimes the baby comes out whole and is thrown into a trash can to die alone and cold. Thrown out like a piece of trash. I do not believe in abortion but can understand the choice very early in the pregnancy. But at about 3 months the baby becomes aware. There is no justifying tearing apart a baby. That being said I sincerely hope your choice will be to keep this child. The baby will change your life. You may be selfish now. I think all parents are to a point before they have kids. But that will change. When your son grabs your face with his little hands and kisses you on the mouth then throws himself into your arms. I have a friend who lost her baby this past week. She was 17 weeks pregnant. She had to deliver a baby boy that weighed 4 oz. and was 8 inches long. She said he looked perfect when he was born, just like he was sleeping. There are so many hurting families who would take in your baby and give him or her everything you would if you could.

I am in outside sales, which is currently salary+commission, but will move into straight commission starting at the beginning of July 2010. I have been in this position since July 2009. I have competition from several direct manufacturing sales reps, large distributors, and local distributors. Here are the advantages and disadvantages of each:
Direct Advantages: Immediate knowledge of new technology, no middle man mark up, one shipping bill (paid by manufacturer or buyer of goods), access to larger range of non-commodity items, control inventory, have access to many distributors that can effectively sell their goods which increases market share, and set prices of commodity they manufacture.
Direct disadvantages: Typically have 1-3 sales reps per region (i.e. southeast, mid-atlantic, northeast, etc.) limiting the number of accounts they can successfully manage/cold-call, lack physical customer service or physical technical service available to or affordable for smaller users or altogether, are sometimes not trustworthy because they will go in behind their distributors that sell their commodity to one account in large quantities (i.e. they missed a big account, and have found out about it through a distributor selling their particular product) which leads to the distributor not selling their product anymore, have too many distributors selling the product ultimately driving the set price down through deviations, possibly rely on distributors to actually sell the product, and competition from other direct sources.
Large distributor advantages: have access to other commodities that go hand in hand with other manufacturers (poor example- grocery stores sell milk as well as cereal), get direct pricing, many locations regionally or nationally easing the shipping burden of buyers with multiple locations, personal service either customer or technical, many sales reps that are able to cover a broader territory, access to multiple manufacturers of the same commodity allowing to keep prices in check, service programs that smaller companies can't offer and direct providers can't match in price or value, and experts of many many commodities as opposed to one or a few.
Large distributor disadvantages: smaller local distributors creating price wars (think Michael Scott Paper Co vs Dunder-Mifflin), direct mfg's going in behind and stealing business, limited access to all of the mfg's (you won't find Harris Teeter name brands in Food Lion and visa versa), can't truly set prices because it's based on both supply and demand, territory management, and tough growth prospects in slower economies (this is true for direct as well really)
Local distributor advantages: Typically a good ol' boy setting where the seller and the buyer know each other for years (this does happen at all levels, but mostly at the local level), local folks are right down the street and can be used in emergencies, if the local guy buys at high enough volumes then there is no shipping charge to the end user, and access to both direct mfg's and large distributors.
Local distributor disadvantages: easily beaten in price, array of commodities, array of technology, lack of trained staff, low cash flow, etc etc etc.
This is what I have noticed in my six months, I am sure there are plenty more that need mentioning. The way I am setting myself apart as a sales person is this: I go after the big accounts right now while I am new. The big accounts, if I land them, will take care of me while I am new and building a customer base. The money made off of those allows me to focus free time on smaller accounts that get me higher margins. I build up big accounts, I would like to have 5-10 of these, then get 20-30 medium accounts. If I lose 1 or 2 big accounts, the 20-30 medium accounts keep me afloat while I go after new big accounts. I don'

I am a teacher and deal with parents and their choices in my classroom for the past 26 years. I must say that I am not surprised by what any parent does or does not choose to do about their children any longer. But please remember, that the choice that you make or the choice that you choose to make based on total strangers and their opinions on this issue will ultimately be a consequence your child will have to live with or not.
You Guys don't deserve to be parents, this child is precious and a gift to you which you don't deserve. The baby deserves parents who at the very least respects his right of privacy. Imagine what you have done for his self esteam as he grows up and discovers what his parents did when they discovered that they were expecting him, played Russian routelle with his life by reducing his chance of survival to a vote by strangers. I just wanted to take a second to apologize on behalf of all of the fanatical, anti abortion 'christian' people who have put hateful comments on this post. There are a whole bunch of people who claim to be followers of Jesus who approach this subject in a way that does nothing but convince others they are judgmental, hateful and sometimes crazy. It pains me to see this because I am a christian too and I feel these people make others believe that all christians act this way. They don't. We are called to love others, and sometimes there is no love or compassion at all in the words spoken by some of these people.
I am 16 weeks pregnant also. My husband and I wanted this pregnancy and we're really excited about it. That being said, I can see how a pregnancy can create many emotions, fears, and doubts. I do believe that every life is sacred from the time it is conceived, and I do profess Jesus Christ as my savior. I'm not going to yell at you and call you names, that accomplishes nothing. We also lost twin girls at 22 weeks, and let me tell you, holding your children as they take their final breath is the saddest experience one could imagine. But then, we wanted our babies, we knew it together, and, cared not what others thought. If you don't want the child after birth adopt it out. I've never claimed to be a moral compass for anyone, but my personal view is that everyone is faced with difficult decisions in their lives, instramental crossrodes of which they have to choose something that will forever change the path of their lives. it is my belief that you define yourself as a person in these times. We can only hope that the voice of humanity can echo louder than that of selfish indecision. It is immoral to bring a child into an overpopulated world, when there are children starving all over the world because there isn't enough food to go around. The whole planet is dying as a result of overpopulation and the pollution, deforestation, overfishing and general exploitation that results from human presence. If you want a baby, adopt one, but do not give birth.
The moral and right thing to do is have an abortion. For the sake of the environment, for the sake of starving people the world over, for the sake of the world as a whole. The right thing to do is to not have this baby. There is nothing wrong with having an abortion at this point in a pregnancy, it doesn't have a true brain, it is far less of a being than an insect.
