Fox are still free to distort, lie and mislead and are still in the WH press corps, so they are **NOT CENSORED**. Claiming they are censored and repeating that lie ad-nauseum does NOT make it true, no matter what Fox News may command you to think!!
There have been surveys that show Fox News viewers as being misinformed compared to consumers of other network news/opinion, the "other side" of the story many of you refer to is the fictional side that Fox makes up. Fox have been discredited too many times, they have been shown not only to have bias but demonstrably mislead and are blatantly disrespectful to anybody making statements that challenge the constant barrage of deceit Fox spews out.
Also, Fox doesn't lean conservative, it leans GOP, there's a BIG difference. You can be conservative... AND/OR you can pander to the xenophobes, homophobes and fundamentalists that make up the GOP base. Fox does the latter, if it didn't it would have been more critical of Bush simply on the basis that Bush and his cohorts were not true conservatives.
Look at the Daily Show from October 28th, 2009 - to see just how lame and worthless Fox News are... although laughable, it's actually very sad to see how warped Fox News are.

I think many of the people responding here have missed a big point. The problem is NOT whether FOX is good or bad, but rather the main point is the sad state the country is in right now, as witnessed by the fact that THE QUESTION HAD TO BE ASKED AT ALL!

I watched Fox News for nearly 5 years and no longer can afford cable news. I felt much more aware of the happenings around the world and now miss Fox very much, I feel short changed and lacking. Fox news has not always provided me with complete analysis, but it is important that we not accept everything as being absolute. Each of us has a mind that needs norrishment, we must each come to our own understanding and not be fed "facts" as one would recieve it with blinders in place. If we were robots with the right to vote and the responsibility to do so and not humans with free will and God given mental abilities, then and only then should there be such a big hella beluh between the WH " OBAMA_ GIBBS" and the media. I was ready to drop the channel because in my opinion Alan Colmes was so obnoxious at times, but Shep Smith has never been balanced and his reporting of Katrina was a disgrace. If he had his way he would have forced Bush to send in all the rescuers within 24 hours and instead of having 10,000 lives lost , we would have lost 50,000. Smiths southern countryman want everyone else to be blamed but they themselves and they were the ones that refused the get out of the way of the hurricane. They were told to leave 6 days before it hit, but no, Shep blames president Bush because a hurricane hit his people. He has on many occasions showed his true colors and favors openly his strong leanings toward the very liberal democrat direction. Another leaker on Fox News in my opinion is Juan Williams, He is the most racist person of all the news organizations and the second most racist person on the scene in the past four years is Barock H. Who was speaking about "balanced news" during that time? The major networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) didn't challenge the Bush White House corruption for that entire period of our history.
Dan Rather tried to do investigative reporting but the power of the wealthy GOP forced him out of his job...the only anchor to challenge George W. Bush and his "military" record. Isn't it interesting that if the press is talking about the GOP, these individuals and their issues should be "hands off", but if it is about a Democrat or democratic issues, then anything is "game" including questioning the legitimacy of our president. The far right has practiced amnesia, forgetting that the Bush administration maintained such control over the media that fair reporting was virtually unheard of for 8 years.
Of course the far right is complaining when their propaganda machine is no longer controlling this country through the press. Small wonder that Americans turned out in record number last year to overthrow the corrupt GOP (Greed Over People) party regime!
If the Fox network were to truly provide two sides of each story, they would be entitled to better representation. It caters to narrow-minded bigots and shallow thinkers, spoon-fed regurgitated hate in lieu of anything true and honest. With the Fox network, these small minds have that venue.
Americans have had to wait until 2009 for a return to reason and balanced news.
The other major networks are not liberal, but rather lean decidedly right. MSNBC has a left-leaning program schedule in the evenings however if you listen to Joe Scarborough of Morning Joe, you realize that this network does provide an opportunity for the "small minds" to have a voice, providing validation to me of how narrow their vision truly is.
In the real world, you sow what you reap....thus when a broadcasting organization is unethical and unbalanced, they may have to accept that they won't have the same privileges of other more balanced broadcasters...much the same as others who lose their liberties through inappropriate behavior.
So, Fox News, if you want to have a place at the table with legitimate journalists, then you will have to reflect on why your party was defeated and why it continues to shout "NO" and offer nothing to Americans but hate, bigotry, and deception.

Actually, I listen to NPR quite a bit. If you listen to the news on NPR on every story the liberal elitist view is promoted. I listen to FOX News news programs a little less, but they tend to let the interviewed guest express his opinion without interruption or comment. The factor trying to present an accurate view and tries to keep the guest from using unfair or misleading comments. The factor gives more latitude and respect to the President than any other guest. Glen Beck is interesting, but NOT news and not presented as NEWS. Hannity once again clearly not news, but fairly presented as a Conservative commentator. He certainly gives the Republicans hell when they don't hold the Conservative line. In short I think you need to listen to many sources in this highly opinionated media.

Wow. It's amazing what an email campaign can do to skew a poll (even a poll like this one, which you would expect to have a reasonable liberal bias given the poll giver). A conservative I know inadvertently included me on the email below, so it had the opposite result of its intent (I voted against Fox), but at the time the vote was 70/30 against. You can't tell me that a 180 degree turn isn't the direct result of a targeted email campaign or worse a technical hack. Let's be honest, are 900,000 people who support Fox that can also read?

If you haven't heard this, the White House is accusing Fox News of not being a legitimate source of news, calling them biased, etc. They have tried to block Fox reporters from news conferences, etc., NPR has put a survey online for us to voice our opinion. Currently it is 71% in favor of the White House, because mainly liberals log on to the NPR website.

Nobody posts the videos, the recordings, the quotations like FOX. Nothing tells it better that the very words of the person being reported on. The president nor anyone on his staff ever calls FOX or appears on FOX to deny or counter anything that is reported. They just do their best to shut them out. That doesn't work too well, as there are thousands, maybe millions, of eyeballs watching all over our U.S. and over the world to uncover the truth and send the evidence back to the only news outlet that has the guts to print the truth. Stand up America, before it is too late. Yes, vote in the next election--for sure. But the speed of this administration--taking us down the path of socialism--is very rapid!! When they come home to visit before going back, I ask them, "when you are seeing the news over there, who is giving the best reports of the reality of war?" They ALWAYS say FOX NEWS!!!! As I see it, the people that criticize FOX News believe in certain myths that NPR exemplifies. One of those myths is that wealthy people have a lot of money. They do not. What they have is lots of "stuff" that is worth lots of money IF they can find somebody that wants to buy their "stuff".
However while they own the "stuff", as in a business that provides jobs and services, the "stuff" is used as a tool to increase production, and hopefully increase their "profit as well.
NPR too often demonized "profit" as akin to "over charges" that is nothing more than "greed".
Meanwhile "non-profit" implies even-handedness because there is no need for profit to grow the organization. The fallacy of this is appalling because many "non-profits" like NPR rely on government funding. Does this difference insulate NPR from bias when reporting on political matters? Does biting the hand that feeds you make sense if you are supported by either "profits" or "funding"?
The White House is populated with anti-profit, anti-business types that frankly do not trust private enterprise because they equate it with greed (profit) and explotation of other people. Those same thoughts are never applied to "non-profits" even though the same money is involved, it was just received through different means. Profits have to be earned or they dry up, funding must simply be granted.
The question is really which hand is feeds you, profits or grants and donations?

I am amazed and gratified that so many understand that free speech is in jeopardy in this and many other situations in this current administration. It is very sad to see where this could lead, as several have said--the Chavez way. Something I didn't see mentioned concerning Fox News are several programs where news and commentary are certainly as balanced as possible--Chris Wallace, Fox News Sunday, Bret Baier's evening news. The Wall Street Journal Report and the Fox News Watch are also good analysis news. If Fox News is not doing the "news job", why would John Stossel and Tucker Carlson have recently come from other news outlets? They may not be hard news, but I believe they are the investigative reporters, and we certainly need them, desperately. I hope this whole unbelievable "thing" that the White House did will make all the news outlets do their jobs better since they can see what can happen when they are "in the tank" for an administration.

I find it interesting that there are no unbiased news agencies in the USA. Fox News ha a bias as do the other "news agencies". What we have lost is a Cronkitian Truth that can be depended upon. We have lost the 4th estate. That is the truly devastating thing here. Yes the White House is attacking all of its detractors which politically is a problem and despicable at best but when you have nowhere to go for the unbiased story then we as a nation have lost a great deal. Fox is no better or worse than the rest. Fox does have liberal representation as CNN has Lou Dobbs. But the rest have little to be sure.

It makes me laugh when the WH and other DC club players go after Fox because the want answers to their questions. I do believe that the Constitution gives them the right to ask the questions. It does not give the white house the right to push them aside and not answer the questions. If those in the WH do not want to answer the questions then one must ask what have you got to hide? If all of the DC club had the guts to answer the questions instead of hiding then we would have no problem.
If anyone should be censored it should be the WH for going all over the world and stating the US is a bad place and we are wrong. I quit watching the network news years ago they are a joke. I watch Lou Dobbs on CNN then switch to FOX. Lou is the only one on CNN worth watching.He was a lot better before CNN took him off before the election last OCT. The "mainstream media" does not report the truth, and they have pretty much stopped asking questions regarding left-leaning policies. The current spending of this administration is out of control, far beyond anything prior, and they are driving our great nation to bankrupcy. They have taken control of companies and company policies without justification. They are planning on taking over the nation's health insurance by lying about the numbers continually. They are unwilling to rein-in costs of the existing medical programs (Medicare and Medicaid), which has resulted in those programs costing exponentially more than was planned on at their inception, yet the mainstream media seemingly cannot make the connection, and is staying silent. The only reporting out there is Fox News. The best place to find out what is really going on is talk radio and Fox News.

Freedom of press is constitutional and we as a democracy need to defend the right to hold and openly speak of dissenting views. Democracy is where all views are allowed, not just those who win. Control of the press is the beginning of most dictatorships.
I've been a daily NPR listener for 20 years, they are most definitely left leaning. I've watched FoxNew a few dozen times, they are most definitely right leaning. As long as you know the bias of your information, you can make an informed decision. EVERY new organization is biased.
One last topic, I'm disappointed and the trash talk on some of the posts here -- mostly the liberal supporters. Name calling and foul language is a sign that your argument is very weak indeed.

Wah, Wah, Wah...The white house is manned by the head boy child and other cry baby leftists. They need to grow up and man up. As far as I can see these leftie politicians and there ilk are on a Anti American path and are close to treasonous behavior. If they continue on this path We will become a commie banana republic. If the President and congress sign this ruinous Cap and trade treaty, that puts our constitution under a left wing world government and signs away our soverneignty, it is my opinion, that all should be arrested and tried for treason!

Freedom of the press... This pertains to all press...
This is guaranteed in the constitution of the United States of America.
This is the very document that the President of the United States of America swore to support and defends.
Although I do not believe in some of the policies of the President, I do respect the office of President of the United States of America. Mr. Obama is the president and should conduct himself as such. The Fox News network is a recognized news organization. This network should be afforded the rights guaranteed to them by the constitution of the United States of America. I feel it is a travesty and disgrace to the Office of President of the United States of America to disregard the freedoms of the press as Mr. Obama has done to the Fox News Organization.
The press was granted this freedom by the founding fathers to bring fourth balance to the people. The press serves an important role in America and any one whom shall try to destroy that balance is not a friend of the United States of America. This freedom of the press holds with it great responsibility to the people. This responsibility is to report to the people all news regardless of the personal beliefs of the management of the news organization. They are not to abuse this power to persuade public opinion toward one political party or another.
Over time news organizations have become skewed and biased. More and more news organizations have come forth to bring balance to the people. Fox News is one such organization.
I say to all Americans. Everyone should demand that News organizations return to their roots and become fair and balanced reporters of the news. If they cannot report all news regardless of the political views of the management then their very charter should be revoked.
Until such time that News organizations become fair and balanced reporters of the news. Conservative press and the Liberal press should be given equal recognition by all Americans. This includes the Office of President of the United States of America.
The fact that I an American citizen can make such a statement stands as testimony that the United States of America is still a great and free Nation.

If viewers would only understand the difference between "news" and "commentary" this whole debate would come to an end. A "commentary" is a set of critical remarks and can be positive or negative according to the opinion of the commentator. So if you agree with the commentator you will simply be agreeing with his/her opinion. However, "news" on the other hand must be recent events and information. News should not include opinion. Can news be slanted? Of course it can. A station, or newspaper can elect to broadcast any news they want and the listener/viewer can elect to change the chanel or not buy the newspaper either! So now it is your turn. Can you turn on Fox or CNN and distinguish between news and commentary? Try it!

Whether it's Rachel or Ed, Glenn or Rush, most of us can see through the bias that shapes their comments.
The most dangerous "reporting" that happens is when "news agencies" begin to make news by knowingly withholding information or manufacturing information as did Rather and Mapes.
Even in that situation, the truth had a way of finding the light of day with no government help.
A president should not lower him/herself to calling out an individual in the press for special treatment. That puts them both on the same plain.

I only watch Fox 100% of the time. It is the only network "fair and balance"
Most of the other networks are socialist.
Due to me background I know what is a socialist country and don't want United States to become Socialist/Marxist.

First, I want to thank Len for setting the record straight on "Church and State". I can't believe how many news organization continue to miss state this along with many politicians. Jefferson did in fact write this in a letter, not the constitution.
Secondly, I was an avid watcher of CNN for years (Cross Fire was my favorite), but they seemed to always have an agenda. When Fox News came on the scene, I was skeptical but to my delight, I heard news not opinion. When I heard opinion, I knew it was opinion. Wow, what a concept...I knew who was liberal and I knew who was conservative and all the voices in between. I still don't know the political ilk of some of the news commentators on Fox. I did at CNN...it was very clear, including Lou Dobbs who is now getting death threats because of his conservative views.
When I have conversations with folks of liberal bent, they seemed to always get personal, insulting and dismissive. I love a good debate, andI have no problem with someone having a different point of view but why get personal, emotional, intolerant, close minded and not open minded to diverse opinion? Why must liberals become hateful and angry when you ask them to back their statements up with facts in a civil manner?
This WH, this congress are going the way of the Europeans (now there are some folks I want to follow--Two World Wars, high unemployment, broke)...Europeans believe in the Elite/Serf model of governing. A few have the power (they think the brains) and the rest (serfs) need to follow like good little people. If you don't know what a serf is, look at European history, they served the Kings, Queens, Dukes, Lords.
Robert, Adam, and some of you other angry, unhappy, hate mongers need to exam your souls. I don't dislike you because you have a difference of opinion than I, but I dislike your lack of diverse, closed minded, intolerant thinking and insulting manner. Liberals NEED to eliminate the 'competition' and end the discussion.
The majority of the liberal vote are government workers (who do not pay fica or med taxes) and welfare recipients (who pay no taxes and receive free food/housing/utility allowances/medical/college tuition).
If we started taxing gov't workers the same amounts we're being taxed and if we cut off welfare and stopped giving women more money every time they have another child by another baby-daddy, and we stop giving free college tuition to "underprivilaged" people (why can't they get a job and pay for college like I had to??? Not everyone 'deserves' a college degree!)...if they were cut off and had to earn their own living, how much support would they give Obama when THEIR money is taken away to give to a 'charity' of the govt's choice?

Fox is one of the checks and balances for a government that is increasingly making people dependent upon it by all the entitlement programs and projects that hide an underlying intent for our representatives to be reelected. How difficult is it for children to grow up and leave home when the "parent" provides everything. Many a trust fund baby has destroyed their lives and their individual initiative. Freedom to master your own burdens or the seductive dependency upon the government. This we need to ponder and allow programs that start encourage us to grapple with this conundrum.

Facts not feelings should guide your decisions folks! NPR, FOX, ABC, CNN EVERYONE has a bias and it is reflected to varying degrees in their reporting. We ALL have a responsibility to seek the FACTS out and most times this requires sifting through alot of opinion. Get over it! Let's be responsible citizens and put our feelings aside. No matter how we might feel about FOX news they certianly have the right to ask questions of this administration. No matter how we might feel about this administration they have no right to bully news organizations, or ANY organization for that matter. In fact it's my OPINION that using the power and status of the White House to try and intimidate any US citizen or domestic organization is fundamentally and morally wrong, maybe even an abuse of power. And no matter on which side of the isle you sit, you would be outraged if these tactics were used against you! I applaud the other news agencies for defending the right of FOX news to have access to the White Hose.

I still beleive in the First Amendment that says we have the right to say what we think. If Obama and his people have a problem with Fox News, or any other individual or group trying to exercise that right, then this country is in SERIOUS trouble. I am basically an independent thinker and voter who supports those people & organizations that think the way I do. I try to base my opinions on constitutional facts - in fact I sometimes check with a friend who is a college professor of Constitutional Law.

Fox news seems to traditionally sensationalize news but that is what I have come to expect . . . and weigh which is my choice. Government twists facts and outcomes to shed a favorible view of what it does. It is no more reliable than the news media . . . something that I cannot tolerate! For the Whitehouse to condemn the Fox news media is hypocritically insane! I deserve better from govenment as I have no other choice; I do have a choice when it comes to responsible news media reporting. Well, it's just one more "food for thought" for Obamaism in action. What's next? Which freedom will be attacked next? The press, freedom of speech, second amendment rights? If one could step back to the '30s in Germany how similar would it appear to present day life in the US? The similarities are there. It is just a matter of time . . . if we let it happen.

It seems that FOX News is the only National Television station that does ask questions on everything. It is what I was taught journalists are supposed to do. It seems that the other stations are only reciting what Obama wants them to say.
Where is the independent thinking? Why are we not questioning not only Obama, but the whole of Congress?
Social Security has a shortfall this and next year, because the funds were stripped in the 1960's to pay for the Vietnam War. These funds were never repaid by Congress. Why doesn't Congress try to run Congress like a business. You have debt which you cover first and then go on to new ideas. If Congress ran this way the US dollar would be worth something. The debt we have is unmanageable. We must reduce it not increase it.

Maybe the White House could get something healthy accomplished if they would quit running around declaring "The sky is falling, the sky is falling and it's all Fox News' fault!" Why is it so hard for them to focus on the big issues instead of trying to root out the dissenters to their philosophy? I began reading the coments, then just had to stop. Listen folks, it's simple. FOx leans right, the rest of the media leans left, that is the way it is. NPR, well, NPR is far left. Yes, I listen, almost every day and the comentators are left leaning, the guests are predominantly left leaning and the stories are skewed leftward, but that is understood going in, I do not expect 'fair' when I listen to NPR, just as I do not expect 'fair' when I listen or watch any other news organization.

This pres talks down America on overseas trips, talks down Americans and American businesses and business owners at home. There have been surveys that show Fox News viewers as being misinformed compared to consumers of other network news/opinion, the "other side" of the story many of you refer to is the fictional side that Fox makes up. Fox have been discredited too many times, they have been shown not only to have bias but demonstrably mislead and are blatantly disrespectful to anybody making statements that challenge the constant barrage of deceit Fox spews out.
Also, Fox doesn't lean conservative, it leans GOP, there's a BIG difference. You can be conservative... AND/OR you can pander to the xenophobes, homophobes and fundamentalists that make up the GOP base. Fox does the latter, if it didn't it would have been more critical of Bush simply on the basis that Bush and his cohorts were not true conservatives.
Look at the Daily Show from October 28th, 2009 - to see just how lame and worthless Fox News are... although laughable, it's actually very sad to see how warped Fox News are.

I watched Fox News for nearly 5 years and no longer can afford cable news. I felt much more aware of the happenings around the world and now miss Fox very much, I feel short changed and lacking. Fox news has not always provided me with complete analysis, but it is important that we not accept everything as being absolute. Each of us has a mind that needs norrishment, we must each come to our own understanding and not be fed "facts" as one would recieve it with blinders in place. The other major networks are not liberal, but rather lean decidedly right. MSNBC has a left-leaning program schedule in the evenings however if you listen to Joe Scarborough of Morning Joe, you realize that this network does provide an opportunity for the "small minds" to have a voice, providing validation to me of how narrow their vision truly is.
In the real world, you sow what you reap....thus when a broadcasting organization is unethical and unbalanced, they may have to accept that they won't have the same privileges of other more balanced broadcasters...much the same as others who lose their liberties through inappropriate behavior.
So, Fox News, if you want to have a place at the table with legitimate journalists, then you will have to reflect on why your party was defeated and why it continues to shout "NO" and offer nothing to Americans but hate, bigotry, and deception.
Actually, I listen to NPR quite a bit. If you listen to the news on NPR on every story the liberal elitist view is promoted. I listen to FOX News news programs a little less, but they tend to let the interviewed guest express his opinion without interruption or comment. The factor trying to present an accurate view and tries to keep the guest from using unfair or misleading comments. The factor gives more latitude and respect to the President than any other guest. Glen Beck is interesting, but NOT news and not presented as NEWS. Hannity once again clearly not news, but fairly presented as a Conservative commentator. He certainly gives the Republicans hell when they don't hold the Conservative line. In short I think you need to listen to many sources in this highly opinionated media.
Wow. It's amazing what an email campaign can do to skew a poll (even a poll like this one, which you would expect to have a reasonable liberal bias given the poll giver). A conservative I know inadvertently included me on the email below, so it had the opposite result of its intent (I voted against Fox), but at the time the vote was 70/30 against. You can't tell me that a 180 degree turn isn't the direct result of a targeted email campaign or worse a technical hack. Let's be honest, are 900,000 people who support Fox that can also read?

If you haven't heard this, the White House is accusing Fox News of not being a legitimate source of news, calling them biased, etc. They have tried to block Fox reporters from news conferences, etc., NPR has put a survey online for us to voice our opinion. Currently it is 71% in favor of the White House, because mainly liberals log on to the NPR website.

Nobody posts the videos, the recordings, the quotations like FOX. Nothing tells it better that the very words of the person being reported on. The president nor anyone on his staff ever calls FOX or appears on FOX to deny or counter anything that is reported. They just do their best to shut them out. That doesn't work too well, as there are thousands, maybe millions, of eyeballs watching all over our U.S. and over the world to uncover the truth and send the evidence back to the only news outlet that has the guts to print the truth. We have several customers who are in Iraq and Afghanistan. When they come home to visit before going back, I ask them, "when you are seeing the news over there, who is giving the best reports of the reality of war?" They ALWAYS say FOX NEWS!!!! They say, "watch that one, don't listen to the others". That says a whole lot to me.

Although I am an independent (conservative) and listen to NPR I do like them more than other medica especially MSNBC who I believe for the most part are in the hip pocket of the President.
Fox News is more conservative and leans toward the republican party, however, they are generally fair. Most people who complain about Fox News do not watch them very often.
As I see it, the people that criticize FOX News believe in certain myths that NPR exemplifies. One of those myths is that wealthy people have a lot of money. They do not. What they have is lots of "stuff" that is worth lots of money IF they can find somebody that wants to buy their "stuff".
However while they own the "stuff", as in a business that provides jobs and services, the "stuff" is used as a tool to increase production, and hopefully increase their "profit as well.
NPR too often demonized "profit" as akin to "over charges" that is nothing more than "greed".
Meanwhile "non-profit" implies even-handedness because there is no need for profit to grow the organization. The fallacy of this is appalling because many "non-profits" like NPR rely on government funding. Does this difference insulate NPR from bias when reporting on political matters? Does biting the hand that feeds you make sense if you are supported by either "profits" or "funding"?
The White House is populated with anti-profit, anti-business types that frankly do not trust private enterprise because they equate it with greed (profit) and explotation of other people. Those same thoughts are never applied to "non-profits" even though the same money is involved, it was just received through different means. Profits have to be earned or they dry up, funding must simply be granted.
The question is really which hand is feeds you, profits or grants and donations?
I am amazed and gratified that so many understand that free speech is in jeopardy in this and many other situations in this current administration. It is very sad to see where this could lead, as several have said--the Chavez way. Something I didn't see mentioned concerning Fox News are several programs where news and commentary are certainly as balanced as possible--Chris Wallace, Fox News Sunday, Bret Baier's evening news. The Wall Street Journal Report and the Fox News Watch are also good analysis news. If Fox News is not doing the "news job", why would John Stossel and Tucker Carlson have recently come from other news outlets? They may not be hard news, but I believe they are the investigative reporters, and we certainly need them, desperately. I hope this whole unbelievable "thing" that the White House did will make all the news outlets do their jobs better since they can see what can happen when they are "in the tank" for an administration.

I believe in freedom of the press; as far as I am concerned Fox news tells it like it is. Obama does not have the right to critize and defer one network. I find it interesting that there are no unbiased news agencies in the USA. Fox News ha a bias as do the other "news agencies". What we have lost is a Cronkitian Truth that can be depended upon. I quit watching the network news years ago they are a joke. I watch Lou Dobbs on CNN then switch to FOX. Lou is the only one on CNN worth watching.He was a lot better before CNN took him off before the election last OCT. The "mainstream media" does not report the truth, and they have pretty much stopped asking questions regarding left-leaning policies. The current spending of this administration is out of control, far beyond anything prior, and they are driving our great nation to bankrupcy. They have taken control of companies and company policies without justification. They are planning on taking over the nation's health insurance by lying about the numbers continually. They are unwilling to rein-in costs of the existing medical programs (Medicare and Medicaid), which has resulted in those programs costing exponentially more than was planned on at their inception, yet the mainstream media seemingly cannot make the connection, and is staying silent. The only reporting out there is Fox News. The best place to find out what is really going on is talk radio and Fox News.

Freedom of press is constitutional and we as a democracy need to defend the right to hold and openly speak of dissenting views. Democracy is where all views are allowed, not just those who win. Control of the press is the beginning of most dictatorships.
I've been a daily NPR listener for 20 years, they are most definitely left leaning. I've watched FoxNew a few dozen times, they are most definitely right leaning. As long as you know the bias of your information, you can make an informed decision. EVERY new organization is biased.

Mr. Obama is the president and should conduct himself as such. The Fox News network is a recognized news organization. This network should be afforded the rights guaranteed to them by the constitution of the United States of America. The press was granted this freedom by the founding fathers to bring fourth balance to the people. The press serves an important role in America and any one whom shall try to destroy that balance is not a friend of the United States of America. This freedom of the press holds with it great responsibility to the people. This responsibility is to report to the people all news regardless of the personal beliefs of the management of the news organization. They are not to abuse this power to persuade public opinion toward one political party or another.
Over time news organizations have become skewed and biased. More and more news organizations have come forth to bring balance to the people. Fox News is one such organization.

It bothers me that, as of today, 21% of those who voted do not believe in a free press. Without an opposition press, we will quickly loose our freedoms.
The whole situation shows why Obama should be impeached. It is called "freedom of the press" and Obama should be protecting it, not trying to undermine it!!!

If viewers would only understand the difference between "news" and "commentary" this whole debate would come to an end. A "commentary" is a set of critical remarks and can be positive or negative according to the opinion of the commentator. So if you agree with the commentator you will simply be agreeing with his/her opinion. However, "news" on the other hand must be recent events and information. News should not include opinion. Can news be slanted? Of course it can. A station, or newspaper can elect to broadcast any news they want and the listener/viewer can elect to change the chanel or not buy the newspaper either! So now it is your turn. Can you turn on Fox or CNN and distinguish between news and commentary? Try it!
Whether it's Rachel or Ed, Glenn or Rush, most of us can see through the bias that shapes their comments.
The most dangerous "reporting" that happens is when "news agencies" begin to make news by knowingly withholding information or manufacturing information as did Rather and Mapes.
Even in that situation, the truth had a way of finding the light of day with no government help.
A president should not lower him/herself to calling out an individual in the press for special treatment. That puts them both on the same plain.

First, I want to thank Len for setting the record straight on "Church and State". I can't believe how many news organization continue to miss state this along with many politicians. Jefferson did in fact write this in a letter, not the constitution.
Secondly, I was an avid watcher of CNN for years (Cross Fire was my favorite), but they seemed to always have an agenda. When Fox News came on the scene, I was skeptical but to my delight, I heard news not opinion. When I heard opinion, I knew it was opinion. Wow, what a concept...I knew who was liberal and I knew who was conservative and all the voices in between. I still don't know the political ilk of some of the news commentators on Fox. I did at CNN...it was very clear, including Lou Dobbs who is now getting death threats because of his conservative views.
When I have conversations with folks of liberal bent, they seemed to always get personal, insulting and dismissive. I love a good debate, andI have no problem with someone having a different point of view but why get personal, emotional, intolerant, close minded and not open minded to diverse opinion? Why must liberals become hateful and angry when you ask them to back their statements up with facts in a civil manner?

The majority of the liberal vote are government workers (who do not pay fica or med taxes) and welfare recipients (who pay no taxes and receive free food/housing/utility allowances/medical/college tuition).
If we started taxing gov't workers the same amounts we're being taxed and if we cut off welfare and stopped giving women more money every time they have another child by another baby-daddy, and we stop giving free college tuition to "underprivilaged" people (why can't they get a job and pay for college like I had to??? Not everyone 'deserves' a college degree!)...if they were cut off and had to earn their own living, how much support would they give Obama when THEIR money is taken away to give to a 'charity' of the govt's choice?

I quit watching CNN and now only watch FOX news. I will never watch CNN again. Their reporting is so biased in favor of BO that it is not even news. They literally worship the man on the air waves! CNN should be taken off the air forever and all the employees charged with federal violations of election interference and given the maxium penalty under the law. BO would never had been elected had CNN reported the news without bias. Shame on them. Shame! Shame! Shame! Fox is one of the checks and balances for a government that is increasingly making people dependent upon it by all the entitlement programs and projects that hide an underlying intent for our representatives to be reelected. How difficult is it for children to grow up and leave home when the "parent" provides everything. Many a trust fund baby has destroyed their lives and their individual initiative. Freedom to master your own burdens or the seductive dependency upon the government. This we need to ponder and allow programs that start encourage us to grapple with this conundrum.
Facts not feelings should guide your decisions folks! NPR, FOX, ABC, CNN EVERYONE has a bias and it is reflected to varying degrees in their reporting. We ALL have a responsibility to seek the FACTS out and most times this requires sifting through alot of opinion. Get over it! Let's be responsible citizens and put our feelings aside. No matter how we might feel about FOX news they certianly have the right to ask questions of this administration. No matter how we might feel about this administration they have no right to bully news organizations, or ANY organization for that matter. In fact it's my OPINION that using the power and status of the White House to try and intimidate any US citizen or domestic organization is fundamentally and morally wrong, maybe even an abuse of power. And no matter on which side of the isle you sit, you would be outraged if these tactics were used against you! I still beleive in the First Amendment that says we have the right to say what we think. If Obama and his people have a problem with Fox News, or any other individual or group trying to exercise that right, then this country is in SERIOUS trouble. Fox News is not a news organization. It provides entertainment for a segment of our population that feels anyone who does not share their views is inherently evil and attempts to demonize them. They do not present any positive approaches or solutions to problems nor do they want civilized and respectful discussion the very serious issues facing our country today.

Social Security has a shortfall this and next year, because the funds were stripped in the 1960's to pay for the Vietnam War. These funds were never repaid by Congress. Why doesn't Congress try to run Congress like a business. You have debt which you cover first and then go on to new ideas. If Congress ran this way the US dollar would be worth something. The debt we have is unmanageable. We must reduce it not increase it.
Maybe the White House could get something healthy accomplished if they would quit running around declaring "The sky is falling, the sky is falling and it's all Fox News' fault!" Why is it so hard for them to focus on the big issues instead of trying to root out the dissenters to their philosophy? I began reading the coments, then just had to stop. Listen folks, it's simple. FOx leans right, the rest of the media leans left, that is the way it is. NPR, well, NPR is far left. Yes, I listen, almost every day and the comentators are left leaning, the guests are predominantly left leaning and the stories are skewed leftward, but that is understood going in, I do not expect 'fair' when I listen to NPR, just as I do not expect 'fair' when I listen or watch any other news organization.
